A Dance in the Night.

Summary:

Viago and Emmrich attend a ball from afar. They make the most of the night.

Work Text:

Viago watches from the balcony, waiting in his fancy suit with fancier baubles, sipping wine while scanning the floor below. Em may not be here yet, but he’s still going to keep an eye on things from the balcony. After all, there’s no telling when someone is going to try to assassinate him.

Familiar footsteps sound behind him in new boots. Viago smirks, taking another sip. “You’re late.”

“Forgive me, dearest, I’m afraid it took me a little longer to find my way here than I’d hoped.” Viago turns just enough to look at his paramour. The deep purple suit Viago picked out for him is accented even better with the hints of green and glinting gold accents Em’s so fond of.

“You’re lucky I like you.” Viago teases. “There’s not many people allowed to make me wait without expecting a poisoning in their future.” Setting his wine aside for the moment, Viago strolls up to Em, pulling him in for a kiss. Em smiles against his lips.

“Well, I’m thrilled to be one of them.” Soft music filters up to them from the ballroom below. “Shall we dance, Dearest?” Viago smirks, taking Em’s hands and letting him take the lead.

Em leads beautifully; its an easy task, no, not task, it’s simple enough to follow Em with every desire of his pointed in one direction. He can’t help himself, letting his guard down just enough to get closer than strictly necessary for their moment together. He may feel up his paramour just a bit, but Em returns every touch and gesture.

The song goes on, their pace growing more energetic as the tempo increases. Breathing quickens as they explore every inch of their balcony. Styled, neat hair slips out of it’s place, fringe slips over foreheads, sticking to newly wet skin as they glide across carpeted floors. Soft patters of too-new boots whisper their path to any who would listen.

Hungry blue meets hungrier green. Heated touches move across hotter skin. A playful smirk meets a daring gaze. A grin forms as a confidence shines through.

Something in Viago thrills as Em Spins, then dips him with lips pressed to lips. A nibble, then they’re exploring every inch of each others mouths. Viago smirks, reaching up to pull Em closer, refusing to let him escape so easily after teasing him in such a way.

Em pulls away first, placing him on his feet, but Viago wants more. “Later Dearest. This is not the proper venue for more.” Em swallows, but so does Viago.

“I’ll hold you to that.” He can think of a few things he’d want to do to Em, but none of those things can be done in an unsecured location. Instead, he retrieves his wine, takes a seat, and pours Em a cup of his own. Em smiles, sitting down beside him and taking the cup.

“Not going to enjoy a serving of antidote, my dear?”

“No.” There’s no need when he already has. Viago passes his man a series of vials. Em downs each of them without complaint or hesitation, soothing that little bit of his paranoia as he confirms the man he loves is safe for the moment.

It’s only once his lover finishes each of the vials that Em finally sips his wine. “Wonderful, Dearest.” There’s something about the way the Necromancer went from heated and teasing to soft and sophisticated that only makes Viago want this ball to end sooner. Then again, Viago never stays for the full event if he can help it. Too many risks…

“Would you care to stay longer, or shall we head back home?”

That heat returns to Em’s eyes. “Why don’t we go another round? I’ve not been here long. It would be a waste to leave so early into the night.”

Viago’s smirk returns. “Of course.” He has the feeling tonight’s going to be one of the best.
