You were sitting at your desk as usual,drinks and snacks scattered around your desk. The RGB lights cycle slowly,baking your room in a rainbow glow,curtains sealing away the night.
You had a stressful day,and wanted to unwind by playing one of your favorite genres,RPGS. But which one?
You could finally start deltarune,chapter 3 and 4 are releasing next week,or keep on playing final fantasy 7,that game has been rotting on your backlog for weeks. Maybe you could buy expedition 33,your friend has been raving about it for weeks and weeks like a broken record. But it isn’t on sale right now and you don’t want to waste the money you're saving for other stuff. Maybe just emulate a Mario rpg? Those were a major part of your childhood,and hell there are browsers that could run them easily!
But despite all your options,you decide to go to the one series that always gave you comfort,Persona.
You’ll always have a fondness for that series,the unique melding of life sims with standard rpg gameplay. Endeared by the seemingly endless waves of lovable characters. The beautiful narratives of each game telling their own stories. And of course the music.
Considering the fact you have physical copies of pretty much every game in the series,figures,and each manga released for it. It was safe to say you were a superfan. Hell you even got into SMT because of this series. And you can thank one game for it all. Persona 3.
You can go on and on about how much you own to persona 3. The game enticed you from the day you played it at a friends house on their older brothers ps2 when both of you weren’t supposed to,seeing the first full moon changed you. And ever since then, you were obsessed.
Once you got your first laptop, you emulated FES,making sure to only play it at the dead of night when your parents were both asleep. You brought an old psp and a used copy of the portable just to experience Kotone’s story. And you genuinely cried when reload was announced,you preordered it the second you could,and while you were left unsatisfied with some aspects,being able to reexperience a game you adore was all you needed.
As your white mouse cursor hover over reload,right before you were about to boot it up ... .you remember something.
You pretty much did everything. Every social link, every request,and you played through the main story more times than you could count. You even beat episode Aigis! (Outside of the joker fight,such a waste of 30 hours,you should have just watched a cutscene comp instead). You wanted to get something new out of the game,something different.
And you knew exactly how.

You scroll and scroll,the blueish grid going on and on. All sorts of mods pass your dimly lit pc screen. Model changes, balancing, shitposts,all well and good,but nothing truly speaks to you. Just more neat but ultimately meaningless mod after mod after mod.
You were considering just giving up for the day and scrolling on social media. But then,right as you were going to close the tab,one mod in the endless sea of shitpost mods and other stuff.
“Live like social links!”
What? What the hell could that possibly mean? Your curiosity was eating away at you,bite by bite.
You slowly click the little infobox. The page lagged a bit. Way more than usual. Maybe your WiFi was buggy? Eh whatever.
Eventually the page finally booted up. The page description was….a little odd.
“Take the social links to the next level with this mod! All you need is to install this mod and hook up a mic,then speak!”
“Warning,this mod is very experimental! Use at your own risk!”
You don’t know why the person who created the mod would leave this,there was no real risk to just installing a mod right? Besides maybe… malware? But the mod already had a few downloads so…
Whatever didn’t matter. You already had a pretty good mic on you,and it seemed simple to set up besides that. So you figured,why not! You pressed the download button,put the mod into your mods folder,and hooked up your mic.
