the sun was so warm.
the seasons were changing, the trees and shrubs around the luofu were now becoming barren with the chilly wind.
you really understood mimi now. she loved sunbathing and honestly you might pick up the same hobby now that it's colder. though you didn't really need it since your large home was heated quite well, especially funded by your husband's wealthy income as the general.
but there was just something different about laying in the sun, the heat wasn't just in the air it felt so nice and evenly spread around, soaking in the comfortable light. it really helps that mimi smells amazing, and the sun was helping spread her scent around. she smelled of.. cat? like sugar cookies left out on a granny's window to waft around the neighborhood.
and her purrs were really helping set the ambience mood.
"darling?"
you hum, your eyes still closed. you could hear padded footsteps walking near you.
"what're you doing? on the floor, no less?"
"i'm spending quality time with mimi, of course." you reach behind you haphazardly to pet her. she purrs in agreement.
"by using her as your pillow?" he muses. you can feel the sun's warmth leave as a shadow is cast on you.
"she likes it! you should join us-.. wait, why aren't you at the commission right now?" you open your eyes, and are happy to be greeted with your beloved's face. your hands reach and cusps his face and your lips peck his face all around. he closes his eyes and lean in, not unlike mimi when you give her chin scratches, "hmm.. lunch break.."
you look at the digital clock on the wall, "it's only 11am?"
he merely smiles, however you sighed in return. you were ready to brace yourself with the barrage of texts from fu xuan soon.
"oh, i did get something for you. and mimi." despite the fact that he was covering the sun, the soft curve of his lips, the glint in his eyes whenever he saw you..
"ready?" he adjusts you before lifting you on one of his shoulders and mimi on another. she lets out a tired yawn in protest but stays limp in his hold. he takes a few long strides with his long legs before coming upon another window view, though this one opens up to the courtyard where he and yanqing usually train. he sets mimi down first before placing you on top of her. what greets you isn't the floor, but a plush surface.
you look down and see a humongous dog bed, enough to fit three mimis!
you look back up at jing yuan, but he's already entering and cradling you; sandwiching you in between him and mimi.
"a'yuan-" you begin, but he merely kisses your forehead. "isn't this much better than the floor?"
you sigh and close your eyes. nobody can rouse the dozing general when he's set on nap time.
the world seems to still as you began to snooze.
however you jolted when a familiar ring tone blasted.
"a'yuan."
"ignore that."
