Work Text:
“You’re being creepy.” Sunghoon said suddenly which snapped Jake out of his trance.
“What do you mean?!” Jake whispered yelled, still trying to keep an eye on the pretty barista working at the cashier.
“You’re staring at the barista and you’re not being slick about it.” Sunghoon deadpanned.
“I’m sure he doesn’t mind..” Jake trailed on as he sighed, leaning his cheek on his fist as he watched the pretty barista take the order of the customer he was helping.
“Nope. Nope! We’re leaving. You’re going to get a restraining order from him soon and i’m trying to avoid that from happening.” Sunghoon decided as he started standing up.
“What are you doing? Hey! Sit back down we aren’t leaving yet!” Jake grumbled, holding onto Sunghoon’s sleeve.
“If you’re trying not to make a fool of yourself infront of him, you already failed because he’s staring.” Sunghoon said while taking Jake’s hand off of his sleeve.
Jake whipped his head in the direction of the pretty barista so fast, the barista would’ve thought he broke his neck.
The sight Jake was met with was the Barista, name tag saying “Jay” was indeed staring at the two with curiosity and a small smile tugging on his lips.
“He’s so cute.” Jake said out loud which definitely caught the barista’s attention because 1) they weren’t so far away from the counter and 2) he probably knew how to read lips anyway.
After Jake realized what he just did, “You know what, yeah! Let’s go, Sunghoon. Like right now.” He said suddenly, packing all his stuff like he genuinely had somewhere to be.
After Jake so obviously called the barista cute, Jay felt his face heat up ever so slightly, wide eyes at Jake’s confidence to call him cute so suddenly.
And as quick as that interaction lasted was as quick as Jake practically booked it out the cafe with a confused Sunghoon following him out.
“You really need to get a restraining order on that guy, hyung. He comes here like every other day.” Jungwon said while working on a customers order.
“I don’t think he needs to. Don’t worry about it too much, Jungwon!” Heeseung suddenly spoke up from the break room.
Jungwon looked at Jay, confused on what Heeseung was talking about. Jay just stuttered out an excuse and tried to move onto another topic which consisted of switching Jungwon to cashier duty while the younger whined, he hated being on the cashier.
And suddenly the topic of Jake dropped just like that.
Hours later
It was practically closing time and Jay was the last one working, not much people were coming in so Jay started wiping the tables and would start mopping the floors after he finished. At least he thought people weren’t coming until he heard the bell on the door suddenly ring.
Jay sighed before looking up and was met with the site of Jake standing right infront of the doorway.
“Sighing already? Such bad customer service, Jay-ah~” Jake teased.
“If it isn’t the guy I need a restraining order on.” Jay teased back as he went back to wiping the tables.
“Hey! You wouldn’t dare. You can’t do that to me, the love of your life!” Jake said dramatically, “Look! I even brought you a jacket because I know you didn’t bring one despite me telling you several times before you left for work and—“
Jake was cut off by Jay’s lips being on his, just a small peck to have his boyfriend shut up just a little. Jake’s hands automatically went to Jay’s waist as Jay wrapped his arms around Jay’s shoulder.
“And thank you for being such a caring boyfriend, Jakey. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.” Jay giggled, noticing the way Jake’s cheeks heated up after a simply kiss on the lips.
“I really like the way your apron emphasizes how small your waist is.” Jake blurted out.
A pause.
And a fit of giggles coming from Jay as he laid his head on his boyfriend’s shoulder. Jake pouted as he felt he was being laughed at and well he was.
“Is that why you were staring more than usual?” Jay said as he calmed down breaking away from the embrace.
“Just a little.” Jake muttered as he looked around. “Do you need any help? I know it’s late right now and we still need to decide what we should eat later.” He continued on.
Jay threw a rag at him and Jake was appalled by such treatment, his reaction being written all over his face.
Jay laughed at his face, “Just the table next to me, puppy.” Jay motion to the table and despite Jay’s treatment of Jake, he worked on the table regardless.
Well not without muttering something along the lines of, “I go out of my way to pick up my own boyfriend and this is how he treats me..”
Jay smiled at his dramatics.
After Jay finished moping while Jake hung out and sat on the counter near the cashier, Jay started getting ready to lock up.
Making sure everything was in order, Jay came out of the back room and look at Jake expectantly, “Are you ready to head out?” He asked.
“Oh i’ve been more than ready.” Jake said hopping off the counter and grabbing Jay’s hand before he went outside to lock up.
Jay looked at him questionably but Jake told him to keep still while he put Jay’s jacket on for him. Well not really his jacket.
“You do know this isn’t mine?” Jay asked, the jacket feeling baggier than he’d used to.
“I know that but is it a crime to want to see my cute boyfriend in something I own for once?” Jake sighed as he turned Jay around to fix up his scarf properly.
“Mhm..” Jay said while rolling his eyes while being caught off guard by Jake taking a photo of him. “Hey! What was that for?” He said while trying to reach for Jake’s phone.
Jake just stuck his tongue at him and said something about it being in saved in his “my jay-ah” folder in his phone.
“You’re ridiculous..” Jay said while grabbing Jake’s hand, leading them out of the cafe so Jay could lock up.
“Only for you, babe.” Jake said while pressing a kiss on Jay’s cheek.
Jay rolled his eyes while dragging Jake down the street to a nearby restaurant for them to eat at.
Days later
Jake got a text from Sunghoon saying, “YOU’RE DATING THE BARISTA??”
