Work Text:

Early morning was one of Honami’s favourite times. Why? Because she was the one to wake up first out of her little group of four, meaning she got to see them all asleep - all relaxed and peaceful. It truly was a sight she cherished, looking over her partner’s sleeping faces and feeling the warmth swell in her chest.

Ichika, the band’s frontwoman, was always smiling slightly in her sleep, as long as she was in the arms of one of the other three. Her black hair splayed out on the pillow (and often, the face of whoever slept near her), and the way her face was always squished up against said pillow, never failed to make Honami fall in love with her over and over again.

Saki slept about as energetically as one can. She found herself sleeping either on top of one of the others, or in the most space consuming positions you could imagine. She’d often accidentally hit one of the three in her sleep while switching positions, all the while mumbling about whatever she was dreaming about. Despite the slight annoyance of being hit, Honami still found it endearing every time.

Shiho slept… eerily still. One could mistake her for being dead, if they didn’t know her well enough. When they were younger, Honami would wake up to Shiho snoring softly, but the grey-haired girl grew out of that habit. Now, even through Saki’s sleep-talking, (though not so much her sleep moving, admittedly. Shiho woke up whenever Saki moved too hard near her) she slept peacefully. Honami admired it, a little.

And now, seeing those exact dynamics with her own eyes yet again, Honami couldn’t help but smile. Saki had shifted in her sleep, and ended up with her pinky finger in Ichika’s mouth, - Honami moved her poor hand - and Shiho had her arms wrapped around Ichika. Somehow, Honami was spared all the chaos in her slumber. The drummer checked the time, eyes darting to the alarm clock on the end table, and sighed quietly. Might as well make the group some breakfast.

However, just as she slipped off the bed…

“Honami?” Shiho’s deep, quiet voice crept into Honami’s ears, and she turned to the source. Shiho was in the same boat as her, they were both early risers. Honami just woke up early, her circadian rhythm just being like that. Shiho had another reason, as she had to follow her idol sister’s schedule for a long time in her youth.

“Good morning, Shiho-chan.” Honami whispered back, smiling. Shiho groaned, although it sounded more similar to a cat’s purring, and she slowly, carefully, made her way out of bed as well.

“Making breakfast?” The bassist asked, yawning as Honami came up to her. The drummer nodded in response, carding her fingers through Shiho’s hair in an attempt to clean it up. Shiho leaned into the touch, her cheeks flushing a light red. Anywhere else, Shiho was usually leaning away from touch, too embarrassed or touch-sensitive for any kind of contact. However, in this house, this room, she seemed to enjoy the contact, the feeling of her girlfriend’s hands running through her hair, or tracing nonsensical patterns on her skin. Honami took a deep breath, savouring the moment, and leaned down slightly - only slightly, the tall gene finally caught up to Shiho recently - to press a few short kisses from her forehead to her lips, and leaving a longer one on said lips. Shiho returned the kiss happily, humming contently.

“C’mon love, let’s go cook.” Honami whispered onto Shiho’s lips, and Shiho whispered a quiet ‘okay’, placed one last chaste kiss to Honami’s lips, and pulled away.

Once in the kitchen, Shiho and Honami allow themselves to move a bit louder, to communicate with their actual voices instead of barely audible whispers. After all, their room is upstairs, and their bandmates could probably sleep through a tornado if they wanted to.

“What do you think they’ll want to eat?” Shiho asked, flipping through the notepad of recipes that was magnetically attached to the fridge.

“Hm… We could make them chocolate chip pancakes?” Honami suggested, pointing her index finger at the recipe in question. Shiho seemed to genuinely consider the proposal for a few seconds, glancing around the kitchen.

“Might as well.” She settled, shrugging and letting the pages of their makeshift recipe book fall back into place. Then, the two fetch all the necessary ingredients for the meal, searching through cabinets, drawers and the pantry for all the pieces.

“Shiho-chan, I think that’s enough chocolate chips.” Honami said, a fond yet exasperated smile on her face. Shiho froze at the call of her name, and pouted.

“I was doing it so Saki wouldn’t complain about how little there was.” She reasoned, and tipped the bag again, letting more chocolate pieces fall into the bowl of batter.

“Alright, enough.” Honami laughed, snatching the bag from Shiho’s hands and sealing it back up. She swore she could hear a quiet ‘aw.’ from the bassist, but she chose to ignore it.

“Do we have any blueberries?” Honami asked from her spot in the fridge, looking back at Shiho, who was manning the pan.

“Yeah, they’re in one of the drawers.” Shiho responded, flipping the pancake in the pan. She had a strange talent to always cook them perfectly, which Honami was only slightly jealous of. In her left hand, she held a container of strawberries, and with her right, she grabbed a container of blueberries, ready to decorate the pancakes with them - for a healthy touch to their not-quite healthy breakfast. With her hip, she shut the fridge door, and made her way to the counter beside Shiho, where she had already set up a cutting board for the strawberries.

“Honami, why are you sticking your tongue out?” Shiho chuckled, an amused expression on her face. Honami honestly didn’t know why Shiho even asked - she was known to do that when she was focused on something.

“No reason.” She said instead, slipping her tongue back into her mouth, only for it to make its way back out mere seconds later. Shiho only laughed quietly once again, before turning her attention back to the pancakes. They were almost through all the batter, Honami noticed.

Honami placed four plates on their dining table, and placed a fork and knife alongside each as well. Shiho placed the plate of pancakes in the center of the table, and sniffed the air.

“Man, we make good smelling pancakes.” She hummed, face relaxed.

“It’s the cinnamon, I bet.” Honami said in response, and grabbed the bowls of fruit on the counter, setting them on the table as well, one on each side of the plate of pancakes. Shiho returned to the table with four glasses in hand - how the hell was she doing that - and a container of orange juice in the other, setting those down as well, before turning to Honami. She placed her hand on Honami’s upper arm, and leaned forward, just enough so that their foreheads were touching.

“Thank you for cooking with me.” She whispered, and Honami felt her breath on her lips as she talked.

“Any time. It's nice not having the other two there to almost burn the house down sometimes.” Honami laughed, bringing her hand up to meet Shiho's.

“Sometimes?” Shiho chuckled, raising an eyebrow. Honami giggled, and instead of answering, pressed her lips against Shiho's again.

They stayed like that for a few moments, enjoying the comfortable silence around them, before Honami pulled away slightly.

“I should go wake the other two up.” She whispered when Shiho chased her warmth.

“One more kiss?” She asked, rubbing her thumb up and down Honami’s arm. Honami sighed fondly, and accepted Shiho’s request without complaint.

Once they pulled away, Honami smiled and resigned herself to her new role as the awakener.

“Alright, I’ll be back with two sleepy girlfriends.” Shiho laughed, and waved to Honami, who had began her journey back to their shared room.

When Honami opened the door, her gaze fell onto her other girlfriends, who were piled on top of each other. Saki had somehow rolled on top of Ichika in her sleep, and the vocalist wasn’t bothered in the slightest. Honami almost didn’t want to wake them up, but she knew they’d be upset if their pancakes went cold. And honestly? So would Shiho. And so, she tiptoed to the bed, kneeled down, and began lightly running her hands through Saki’s hair in hopes that the feeling of her fingers would wake her up. Expectedly, it didn’t, so she leaned down, and peppered the keyboardist’s face with kisses.

“Time to get up, you two.” She said, not whispering, but not at full speaking volume. Ichika stirred at that, eyes slowly opening, but Saki stayed asleep.

“Honami..?” Ichika yawned, rubbing the sleep from her eyes with her free hand.

“Morning, Ichika-chan. Breakfast is ready.” Honami said, placing a kiss on the bridge of her nose.

“Mmm… Saki’s on top of me again.” Ichika groaned, scrunching her nose in the cutest way - in Honami’s totally unbiased opinion.

“That she is. I’m waking her up, give me a second.”

Honami shook Saki a little bit, kissing her temple. That seemed to have worked, as she slowly woke up, looked between Ichika and Honami, and sighed.

“Morning…” She mumbled, hugging Ichika tighter.

“Good morning, darling. Breakfast is getting cold.” Honami hummed, still running her fingers through Saki’s hair. The blonde perked up at that, eyes widening.

“What’s on the menu today?” Ichika asked from beneath Saki, smiling warmly.

“Pancakes and fruit.” Honami answered, pressing short kisses to Ichika’s lips now that she had space. Saki lit up even more, and sat up fully, freeing Ichika.

“Come on, you two, Shiho-chan’s downstairs watching your pancakes freeze and die.” Honami laughed as Saki assaulted Ichika with her lips as soon as she sat up. Ichika just shut her eyes and accepted her death.

Saki’s hurried footsteps rang throughout the house as she ran down the stairs, and Shiho knew she was in for a ride.

“Saki, don’t trip down the stairs.” Ichika’s tired voice followed, and Shiho chuckled as she shook the bottle of whipped cream for the millionth time as she waited for the rest of the household to arrive at the dinner table. And she didn’t have to wait very long. Saki barreled in, ready to pounce on Shiho, but froze when she saw the whipped cream container in Shiho’s hand. She gasped, slowly walked up to the bassist, and held her hand out, a pleading expression on her face. Shiho immediately deduced what that meant, and an evil idea formed in her head.

“Close your eyes.” She said, smiling as innocently as she could, and Saki, poor, gullible Saki, did just that. Giddy, Shiho raised the container’s nozzle close to Saki’s nose, and pressed downwards. With a loud sound, a bunch of whipped cream dispensed directly onto Saki’s face, earning a loud, surprised shriek. Shiho bursted out laughing just as Honami and Ichika made it downstairs, and Saki grumbled lightheartedly as she gathered all the whipped cream into her hand, and suddenly smeared it all over Shiho’s face.

“Hey!” Shiho gasped through her laughter, immediately reaching up to do the same to Saki.

“Stop whipped creaming each other and sit down, you two.” Honami ordered, leading Ichika to the table. Saki nodded, but instead of moving to sit down, or heck, even clean herself up, she kissed Shiho’s cheek. In turn, she got a bunch of whipped cream on her lips, and she licked it off.

“...Saki..!” Shiho choked, face going redder than the strawberries on the table, and Saki giggled. The two eventually settled down and cleaned themselves up, and the whole household was seated at the table, enjoying their lukewarm chocolate chip pancakes.
