"So this is all you are going to do? Be defeated by that weakling and accept your demise!"
Hyunsu never thought he would see the demon so agitated. He thought, surely, his cursed reflection would be happy to see him die, just as it was happy to see him suffer.
"And clean those damn tears from your ugly face now, we will get out of this"
In a twisted way, he felt reassured. Before he wanted to die, to be immortal was a curse too heavy for someone like him. But he knows that its not the time, they didn't make a cure and both EunHyeok and the rest of the survivor are out there. They are waiting for him, he knows, he promised, he cannot go down now and let that monster go around parading Sangwook's body.
He stands up, his own reflection looks back at him. Something has changed. "I guess I'll help you once more" the tone is bored, but the smile on the demons face seems... Genuine. The eyes that look back no longer seem pure black.
Indeed, something is different.
The gray rock layer that seemed to have covered every surface of his skin trembles. If both his demon and him are talking, then that means both are still alive. He pushes against the his constraints, Hyunsu feels trapped in his own skin. In his mind the demon holds his hand, but neither say anything about that, they just push together. Until they feel it. In the perpetual endless darkness, a crack.
The layer of rock that had covered his skin doesn't seem to crumble away, instead it gets absorbed once more. Slowly, he gains control of his body once more, the demon drops his hand and moves back. Hyunsu doesn't mention the small smile that threatens to spill out at the corners.
The monster inside faces him once again, "Before you celebrate get out of this cursed lab, it's obvious their operation was a bust". The blue eyes on his reflection are a new development. The experience was not all that useless, Hyunsu thinks. Now he is sure that his demon is changing and that he might try to tempt him constantly, but it will do everything to keep them alive.
They start walking through the halls, taking in the state of the building. In his mind, the small comments from his demon now much less sharp than before. Hyunsu doesn't comment. A few minutes walking on empty halls, and they run into a person, a scientist judging for their lab coats. But the man looks at Hyunsu once and runs the other way.
Hyunsu needs to get rid of these clothes.
"And then what" the demon whispers. They have work to do.
