Hua Yong looped his arms over the alpha’s shoulders. “Can’t I?”
Shaoyou scoffed, though his jaw clenched. “You look way too fucking good. Everyone will stare at you, Hua Yong… and I’ll want to gouge their eyes out.”
Hua Yong smiled, infuriatingly smug. “Good. Let them stare. I want everyone to see how amazing your wife looks. I want them to envy you.”
Or: Hua Yong wanted to behave for once, really, if Shaoyou hadn’t come out tonight looking like sin incarnate. How could he behave when his alpha looked this fucking good?

As if confused, Boss tilted his head, expression blank. “Excuse me.”
Joke slanted a glare up at the crime lord, and raised his voice. “I said. No.”

He rebelled against the control his father tried to impose on him by becoming a thief. He rebelled against society's expectations of the status quo by stealing from the rich and going to jail. Hell, he even rebelled against his own self and threw away his one defining talent and trademark for the man he loved and tried to become an upstanding man of society by doing any and every menial job he could find instead of taking the easy way out.
So, no. Joke was not a man who easily bowed down―not to control, not to his father, not even to his own pride.
But for Jack?
