Work Text:
Maybe being a prisoner guard wasn’t really the dream job of many. But Sae liked his job. Atleast sometimes he thought there could be worse.
But how much could someone like a job where everyone is violent, loud and definitely doesn’t want to be there? That was the life of a guard in a prison.
Often he wondered himself what he got himself into. While his brother seemed to atleast archieve something in life, Sae woke up every day to go to a prison and watch maniacs.
He was in the section for violent crimes. Like assault. Before he was in the stealing section, but he was recently moved. It may was seen as an upgrade. To give him more responsibility. But since his promotion his job got ten times harder.
It was obvious that the people there weren’t as scared to attack guards. But they were really bold. The second Sae would open the door for breakfast, he would be jumped and always needed a weapon with him.
And the worst was that it was a different guy every day! So the rumor of "prison changes you" wasn’t true for everyone. Sae knew that when these guys were leaving, it wouldn’t take long for him to see them again.
There was one in particular that annoyed Sae a lot. He was rather new but seemed to like Sae from the second they saw each other. Sae wasn’t able to mirror the feelings though.
His name was Ryuusei Shidou. He also got there because of assault. Sae heard that the trial wasn’t really fair though, so Shidou maybe wasn‘t as bad as the rest.
Sae didn’t have the chance to prove his theory yet. Shidou did seem violent with the other prisoners but never attacked Sae or any other guard before. That was nice to hear for once in a while.
Maybe he wasn’t as annoying with the violence. But that didn’t mean he didn’t find a way to annoy Sae elsewhere.
Sometimes Sae took night shifts from his colleagues. It wasn’t like he did it because he was nice. It was because he needed to do what his boss said. So once in a while it was normal for him to get a night shift.
He normally didn’t see these as a bother. It was always quiet and every prisoner was sleeping around this time. Sure, you needed to be cautious of something happening. But something happening was really rare.
As said, everyone would normally sleep. The lights were also out after all. But one time when Sae had got a night shift and Shidou was pretty new in the prison, he got the "honor" of meeting him.
„Hey! You! Prisoner guard or whatever!“
Sae looked around not acknowledging the voice that came from behind him. It wasn’t forbidden to talk to prisoners but it was best not to. He should never let down his guard after all.
„I know that you can hear me!“
Still no reaction. Eyes fixated in front. Not even shrinking when Shidou called him again.
Then he heard something fall. It was really loud. That was when he shrugged in surprise. Luckily the other prisoners didn’t seem to hear that. Good for him.
„I‘ll do it again.“
Now Sae turned around and saw Shidou with some kind of bucket standing in the middle of his cell. He had just picked it up ready to throw it down again. Even though it was dark, Sae could still see the grin on his face.
„What do you think you’re doing? You devil.“
Shidou’s smile grew wider as he slowly put the bucket to the ground and moving closer to Sae. To his luck, the guard was sitting right next to his cell. So talking to him really wasn’t hard.
He had been dying for some entertainment in this hell hole. And that guard seemed to be the perfect person to make up to his expectations.
„Devil? I like that. What’s your name?“
Sae just rolled his eyes. As long as that demon wouldn’t cause any problems, he wouldn’t talk to him. That’s how it was.
Shidou moved closer, sticking his hands trough the bars. Moving it closer to Sae’s chair. But yet he couldn’t reach it, so instead he waved up and down to get his attention.
„Ugh, don’t play hard to get! That’s boring.“
Sae’s eyes twitched as he saw Shidou’s hand moving around like he had some sort of panic attack. He was bored, sure. But that didn’t mean that he would entertain some kind of prisoner just because he was bored as well.
But the ignoring strategy didn’t go as well as it was planned. Shidou the started hammering against the bars. At the beginning it started quiet so Sae didn’t make much of it. But it got louder and louder.
„I‘ll get the bucket if you don’t speak. Come on!“
Sae sighed. It was time to give in. And he knew it.
„What do you want?“
Shidou’s eyes started to light up as he heard the prisoner guards voice. Then he quietly chuckled.
„I‘m bored. I wanna talk to you! You’re pretty.“
Sae’s eyebrow twitched. Pretty? He hated compliments like that.
„Pretty? Look at yourself.“
Maybe that wasn’t what he wanted to say. Communicating wasn’t really one of the skills that he was amazing in.
„Me? Thank you! Now come on, tell me your name!“
„Why should I?“
„I‘ll tell you mine!“
This was dumb. Everything about that conversation doesn’t even make sense. Sae knew that the next time he should take a night shift, he definitely wouldn’t do it. Money or not.
„I already know your name.“
Shidou chuckled. He knew that Sae knew his name. He was a guard after all. For some reason Shidou found everything about him just oddly entertaining. Maybe he was slowly going crazy being prisoned and stuff.
„Then what is it?“
„Shidou Ryuusei.“
Shidou got a bit hot. Was the heating on? Or maybe because it was summer. He couldn’t hide his smile though.
„That’s right.“
Sae just nodded in agreement. Like the conversation had been over. But Shidou wasn’t one to give up yet. The night was still young after all.
„Don’t you wanna know why I‘m here, pretty guy? Do the other guards talk about me?“
„How should I know? I don’t care.“
„Yeah, didn’t really think you were that talkative…“
Silence again. This was a hard nut to crack after all. Shidou didn‘t want to talk about himself and rather learn something from the mysterious guy. A name would be enough.
But if it was going on like that, they would sit there until noon. Threatening did no good either. He was lucky that until now, no one really had woken up by the noise he was making.
So it was only a matter of time before someone would wake up because of Shidou. And we wouldn’t want that now. He didn’t want to get punished after all.
„Did someone already tell you that you’re really boring?“
Sae sighed. He wasn’t there to entertain anyone. But talking wouldn’t hurt. Or would it? He couldn’t tell, really.
„Not yet. You’re a first.“
Now Shidou was the one that had given up. He turned around with his back to the bars and sitting on the ground. He then rested his head against the bars. It wasn’t really comfortable but atleast he had a great view on the guard.
Shidou couldn’t really see much in the dark. But what he saw was definitely not ugly. The guard had some magenta-ish hair and bangs? They were put up by probably something like hair spray. He also had really long eyelashes. His eye colour was hard to see.
Normally all guards wore hats but he had it taken off. The hat was hanging on his chair. Almost for Shidou to reach, but yet too far. His uniform sat right and matched him extremely well. His colour scheme was rather dark though.
„I can see you staring.“
The guard turned around to face Shidou. Wow. His eyes were teal. Almost glowing? Maybe Shidou started hallucinating. His skin was also very clean. He almost looked too perfect to be true. Shidou couldn’t hold himself back from smiling.
„You’re such a pretty boy.“
„Shut up.“
The guard looked away again as if he realized that he was giving Shidou too much attention. He felt like he made the guard uncomfortable by his staring. That’s exactly why he wouldn’t stop. This guy was a lot of fun even though he didn’t talk a lot.
Sae kept his best on ignoring Shidou. It was better for himself. But his eyes got heavier by each minute that passed by, slowly forgetting that he was getting stared at.
Who could blame him? He wasn’t used to night shifts after all.
„You tired?“
Sae was a bit surprised by Shidou since he was completely off guard. Maybe that prisoner wasn’t as useless as he might think. So he chose to talking to him a bit.
That’s how he could stay awake. And communicating with someone once in a while maybe wasn’t as bad. He didn’t really talk with his colleagues nor with his family. And friends? He didn’t have any.
Maybe this was a chance for him to level his communication skills. It was worth a try.
„Sae. My name‘s Sae.“
„Your first name? Woah that’s an honor, Sae-chan!“
Sae turned around to see if Shidou was still sitting there. He did. And had a smile on his face. How could anyone smile when literally prisoned in that cell? It didn’t seem luxurious to say the least.
„Didn’t give you permission for that stupid nickname though.“
Then Shidou frowned. Overly dramatic, of course. As if he would listen to him when it came to nicknames.
„You have one for me aswell. It’s only fair!“
Sae just closed his eyes, laying his head against the wall. He felt a bit stupid to talk with the prisoner. He got asked questions like he was in an interview so maybe it was time to ask a question himself.
„Why are you here? What did you do?“
Shidou’s eyes widened a bit. Seemed like he wasn’t expecting for Sae to take an interest in him. Well the goal of the night had been reached, so why not have a bit of small talk.
„I‘m mostly here because the court was getting a lot of money for saying I‘m guilty. Well, I am. But not to the level of getting to prison.“
Sae just raised an eyebrow. Corruption in court wasn’t as unusual as someone might think. But he never met someone where that actually happened.
„I‘m actually a violent person. Would you‘ve guessed that?“
Sae looked at Shidou. Well, yeah. But could he really be this honest? The nickname "demon" wasn’t for nothing after all.
Shidou had blonde hair. On first thought Sae would guess it was dyed but since his lashes were also blonde he was either very committed or just a natural. But what was definitely dyed was his ends. The were bright pink.
His hair was really messy and unstyled. The prisoners weren’t allowed on beauty products. But it seemed like he had make-up on. Maybe he had sneaked it in here. But that wasn’t Sae’s problem in the least. Who cares if the guy does his make-up?
It was a bit smudged though, which was expected.
He did have a great physice. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he was a professional in some kind of sport. He definitely worked out. And he was also tanned. So maybe he spent a lot of time outside. Must be a big change for him to now be prisoned here.
So in conclusion:
„Well, I wouldn’t say you look trustworthy.“
Shidou just grinned at that. Obviously not taking to heart what Sae had to say.
„Aw, come on! That’s mean.“
Sae nodded in understanding. He wouldn’t really say that Shidou was unattractive. He liked people who worked out a lot. And Shidou definitely did.
His uniform in bright orange was ugly, sure. But the rest? Well he could go around with confidence. That’s atleast what Sae thought.
He shook his head quickly to focus on his work again. He shouldn’t get distracted by some prisoner that works out. That was normal here.
„Something on your mind~?“
„Not really. How long is your sentence, anyway?“
But before Shidou could answer that question the bell rang. It was morning.
Both of them shrugged as the loud bell started to ring. They definitely didn’t expect that. Both of them. Sae heard the noise from all the prisoners waking up.
Was it really already the next day? He couldn’t believe it. He then saw a guard coming his way, probably to tell him that his shift is over.
Sae looked back, meeting Shidou’s eyes. The devil seemed a bit disappointed with their conversation being over. But that was not Sae’s problem. Or was it? No, it definitely wasn’t.
He took his hat and put it on. The guard came to him and saluted. Sae didn’t care for all that professional stuff so he just nodded and then walked away. Looking back one more time, but Shidou already disappearing in his cell again.
But back to the present day, Sae had a normals shift like always. Since his little late-night-talk with Shidou, he didn’t have a night shift again.
The prisoner didn’t forget him though. Sae just didn’t see him around a lot. But on this day he watched the breakfast.
All the prisoners had breakfast at the same time in a big hall. It didn’t take Sae long to spot Shidou. He was pretty good to find in a crowd. He walked alongside other prisoners that Sae could care less about.
He didn’t really take any initiative to get to know other prisoners better. It was useless after all. Shidou was the only one Sae thought it might be good to keep in mind.
He thought the shifts of watching over the prisoners while eating were the worst. Almost every time someone would start throwing food. It was a mess. And in addition to that all the guards just stood at the exit doors like npcs. Sae felt no different.
But Shidou seemed to spot Sae aswell. He immediately stood up and walked over to him.
„Excuse me, you very serious guard.“
Sae looked him in the eyes, confused. What was with that talk?
„Can I go to the bathroom?“
So that’s what he wanted. Sae rose his eyebrows to signalize that he understood what Shidou wanted to do. He answered very serious.
„Every prisoner needs to be accompanied by a guard to assure that they won’t do anything they’re not supposed do.“
„I guess you have to come with then.“
With that Shidou winked and took the lead. Sae following him shortly after. He looked one time to his colleagues who just nodded.
They went to the bathroom silent until they opened the door.
„Nice to see you around, Sae-chan.“
Sae nodded. Shidou really didn’t need to wait to tell him that. They knew each other barely after all.
Shidou seemed to have no intention of actually going to the bathroom. Instead they both just stood there with Sae supporting himself by the sinks. They barely knew each other so he really couldn’t tell what Shidou wanted.
„Something on your mind, devil?“
Shidou started to smile. Like he always did. That put Sae at ease to say the least. He felt comfortable about this criminal for some type of reason.
Shidou took a step closer. Almost a bit too close for Sae’s liking. But it didn’t seem to bother him right now. He just squinted his eyes in not really understanding what Shidou wanted.
„You’re really handsome.“
Sae started to form a little smile. He seemed to get the hint of what was happening here.
„Do you like that compliment more?“
„Kind of.“
With that Sae grabbed Shidou by the collar giving him a kiss on the mouth. It just seemed right. And he couldn’t wait longer with all the staring and Shidou’s eyes almost seeming like they want to stab Sae.
Sae wasn’t good at reading the room. Almost never he got it right. But this time he definitely did since Shidou didn’t take long to kiss back. It didn’t take long for the prisoner to step even closer and also supporting himself on the sink.
It didn’t take long for Shidou to put his tongue in Sae’s mouth. Sae always thought that kissing like that sounded kind of disgusting. But it really wasn’t. It was better than anything he had experience before to be exact.
Shidou explored Sae’s mouth like some kind of cave. And Sae felt like he was getting dizzier with each second. What has he gotten himself into? There wasn’t enough time to think about that later. Right now it was really hard to concentrate on anything, really.
Sae’s mind was blank. There wasn’t a single thought in anything. He felt extremely hot and a bit overstimulated with the situation. But Shidou seemed like he felt no different.
Their breath ran out and so the kiss broke. Sae looked in the devilish eyes. They had something hypnotizing about them. Shidou just grinned.
„Okay how about you’re really sexy?“
„Just shut up already.“
Sae said before pulling Shidou into another kiss.
