Work Text:
Shouto always wished he was a star. When he was a kid he’d spend hours staring out his window at the shimmering stars and the blue-black abyss of the night sky. Just like he was now, laid on-top of the roof of the alliance heights building.
The night was cold and windy, his exposed skin different hues of muted red and purple in strange vein like patterns that only appeared in the unforgiving cold of autumn and winter nights (even though he couldn't quite feel the chill in his right side). The wind was pleasant on his legs, cooling the warm blood pooling in the fresh cuts on his lower thighs.
It was peaceful…
Even his mind, usually so loud with the urge to hurt, was quiet. Maybe that was because of what he planned to do though.
His notes were on his desk back in his dorm. He figured someone would find him. Not that he really wrote many, only his family had individual ones written for them (one would never have the chance to reach their intended recipient. Touya Todoroki was a child long dead after all). With the exception of Midoriya. He figured the freckled boy deserved more of an explanation. Shouto would be dying a much more miserable boy if he hadn't come into his life. He also would've been dead by now if he hadn't. Hell, he wasn't sure why he had even waited this long. Maybe it was because he didn't want to die in that house. Shouto didn't know.
But tonight was the night.
He would die on that roof, finally end the spider web of pain and misery that was his existence for once and for all.
Maybe the afterlife many hoped for would be joining the stars just like he had wished for so long ago. That would be nice… just to exist where no one could hurt him anymore. Quiet solitude to watch the earth spin round and round.
However Shouto knew there was no afterlife, and he was happy there wasn't. He just wanted this to be over.
Reaching for the box cutter securely in his shorts pocket, his phone suddenly buzzed in his spot beside him.
Shouto reached for it, the photo of Midoriya that was his lock screen lit up and he winced when at the brightness. It was 12:39am if his phone time was right, and speaking of Midoriya the notification was from him.
Opening it curiously, Shouto hadn't expected the green haired boy to be up so late on a weekday (weekends were another story… Shouto had been a willing victim of Midoriya’s 3am ramblings on Saturday nights enough times to know).
HeroEnthusiastxx: Hey Todoroki, do you want to come sleep over at my house this weekend? Mama has been dying to meet you
12:38am
HeroEnthusiastxx: omg I didn't even realise how late it was!! Goodnight Todoroki!
12:39am
Shouto smiled softly with amusement (because yes, Shouto did smile even if he was known for his poker face).
Before he could even think about it he replied
TodorokiShouto: That sounds good Midoriya. I look forward to seeing your mother again. And Goodnight. 12:41am
Shouto sighed and stood up. He supposed his plans could wait a few more days. After all, he’d hate to disappoint Midoriya after all he’s done for him.
The least Shouto could do was live a few more days.
