Chapter Text
Isagi Yoichi– The golden boy of his school. He was not the class topper or the captain of the football team. He was just a simple boy who did well in everything he did. He was hardworking and everyone adored him. What was perhaps his most remarkable trait, was that he never stopped improving.
Isagi smiled at all his classmates, even when someone outdid him. He did not become disheartened after failures. Instead, he learnt from his circumstances and adapted to them in order to improve himself. By the time Isagi completed high school, everyone knew his name. He was one of the most precious students in his school and would be an example to the students yet to come.
His high grades allowed him to enter a prestigious university. Apparently, the university imposed intense pressure on its students. Coal would be turned into diamonds by the time the students graduated. It was not for the weak-willed to survive in such an environment but Isagi was determined to prove his worth and make a name for himself.
Making friends wasn’t hard for Isagi. He clicked almost instantly with the sunshine named Bachira who he happened to bump into while looking for the right entrance. The campus was like a castle afterall and it was only normal for new students to get confused. When he finally reached the lobby, it was full of first years. There weren't many students present there, considering the strict scores required to enter the university.
“Let’s go greet them, Isagi-kun!” Bachira said, pulling him by hand.
There were different kinds of students among the first-years. Some even looked like they were foreigners. Bachira took Isagi to a table which had two seats– just enough for both of them. A princess with long red hair and a stern looking macho dude with orange hair were sitting opposite each other; obviously not talking. Not everyone is Bachira.
“Do you mind if we sit here?” Bachira asked the duo, who only nodded in response. “ Scary ,” Isagi thought.
“I’m Bachira Meguru, and this is my friend Isagi Yoichi!” Bachira introduced them enthusiastically. “Friend already?’ Isagi mentally thought. What the hell, sure.
He was so outgoing and confident, it kind of made Yoichi jealous. Well, on the bright side, he won’t be lonely till he manages to make more friends.
“Do you two know each other from earlier?” The orange–haired guy asked.
“Actually, we just met.” Isagi replied. It was an important piece of information after all.
“Kunigami Rensuke.” He held out his hand for the others to shake. It came as a shock to Bachira that Kunigami had not yet acquainted himself with the person with whom he had been sitting for so long. The pink haired boy introduced himself as Hyoma Chigiri.
“In any case, Chigiri-kun, Kunigami-kun, let’s be friends!” Bachira chirped. Seriously, how did he do it?
The door opened again. A young boy stood at the entrance. He had the air of an emperor around him. He walked in and for sure, almost all eyes were on him. Such charisma! He was tall and had a handsome face. His blonde hair past his shoulders, tips dyed and blue. One could tell at first glance itself that he was filthy rich. Isagi couldn’t let himself look away from that mysterious man who walked into the room. It seemed as if his eyes were glued to the mysterious king who moved with such grace and elegance that would convince one that he really is royalty.
The King abruptly turned and looked back at Isagi. The peasant. The nobody.
The pair locked eyes. The king seemed to stare at him with such intense fervour that Isagi couldn’t look away. He was frozen to the spot and that was such a strong sense of foreboding. He knew that there was some reason which was holding him back from looking away but he couldn’t figure out what it was.
Isagi had to look away first– The King shone so bright.
“Woah, look at that tattoo!” Bachira broke the silence.
“What, does he think he’s some bad boy or something?” Chigiri said, making a distasteful face at the newcomer. Isagi didn’t understand why Chigiri didn’t seem to like him. He was handsome enough for first appearances.
“All first years are requested to gather in the auditorium.” The speaker announced, breaking the ice.
“I hope we’re sent to the same room, Isagi-kun!” Bachira said, swinging one hand around Isagi’s neck.
Something magnetic was about to happen to Isagi Yoichi.
He couldn’t deny the attraction present between him and the obnoxiously overpowering King who turned all heads the moment he walked in. He could feel something invisible pulling them together and Isagi was doing everything he could to not get pulled in.
His name was Kaiser, Michael Kaiser; God’s Chosen Emperor.
He and Kaiser were sent to the same residential building. And they were roommates.
At least Kaiser wasn’t an eyesore, but Isagi could tell at first glance that Kaiser would be incredibly arrogant, dominating and challenging. He had a knack for reading people which allowed him to prepare for interactions with them in advance. No matter how much he was enticed by this Kaiser guy, he would not give in, and keep his distance. This man smelt of trouble, and expensive cologne.
Isagi made his way to his new room and waited in front of the door. It was a new beginning for him, and he could only hope that it works out in his favour. He opened the door to find a spacious room with two beds. It was completely empty, except for furniture. The room overlooked the school field, which had a variety of plants and flowers growing.
Isagi took the bed on the left, as it was near the window. First come, first serve. Not long after, Kaiser came to the room with all his luggage. He stood at the door for a while as he surveyed the room. He looked at Isagi and scowled. Looks like he wanted the bed near the window too.
“I want that bed.” He said. No introductions, no formalities. Straight to business.
“Then you should’ve come earlier.” Isagi muttered, unimpressed.
“That doesn’t matter. If I want that bed, I need to have it.” Kaiser replied, fussily. What a spoiled child.
“Too bad that’s not how life works you tyrant.” Isagi said lying down on the bed. It was so soft that Isagi could fall asleep right away.
“Don’t make me do this.” He threatened mirthfully.
“Do what?” Isagi asked, opening one eye to find Kaiser standing right in front of him.
“This.” He replied as he pushed Isagi to the wall and lay down on the same bed himself.
“What the fuck?” Isagi said, getting up hastily. “Personal space exists, you know.”
“You asked for it, Yoichi. Now you either share this bed with me, or shift to the other one.” Kaiser said triumphantly, smirking.
“We’re not that close, don’t call me by my first name. And how do you know my name anyways?” Isagi said irritably, getting up to move away from this pest. Kaiser pulled him by his waist till he was lying beside him again.
“Now we’re close enough, Yoichi.” He grinned.
“MOVE!” Isagi pushed him, getting out of bed immediately.
It was his first day here, and Isagi Yoichi already wanted to go home.
And Kaiser? He knew that if you can’t convince them, then conquer them.
