Summary
The world was supposed to end soon—that’s why Wooyoung refused treatment when he was diagnosed with a chronic illness. He didn’t want to burden Seonghwa, his beloved brother, with the costs, especially when they are already struggling just to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads. Convincing Seonghwa was one thing; getting him to accept it was another. But eventually, Seonghwa gave in—it wasn’t like Wooyoung was going to die from the illness. At least, not yet. He just didn’t want his younger brother to live each day in pain.
They should have spent their final days meaningfully, waiting for the world to end and erase them both, along with everyone else. But here they are—four years after the end of the world— with Wooyoung slumped on Seonghwa’s back, standing at the gates of a safety compound, screaming for help. Begging them to open the gates. To save his brother.
But the gate never budged. Not for the shouting. Not for the crying. Not even for the sound of someone breaking.
If only Choi San hadn’t been the gatekeeper that day.
