Summary
Rowena is quiet on the way home, though she keeps her fingers laced through his. Sam watches her out of the corner of his eye, not pushing her to talk until she was ready. When he parks in the garage and shuts the car off, the redhead finally turns to him, keeping their fingers interlocked.
“I think we should try,” she says, the words seeming to slip out of her, and Sam’s eyebrows furrow together in confusion. At his look, she swallows hard and shrugs a shoulder. “I think we should try to have a baby.”
Sam’s eyes blow wide and he goes a little slack jawed at the sheer shock of her words, given they were some of the last words he’d ever expected out of her. He traces a thumb over the round of her cheek, studying her, and she offers him a small but genuine smile.
