Work Text:
Wind Archer fastened a bag around his waist, putting on a bucket hat before covering himself with a baggy jacket. He turned around to look at himself in the mirror, noting that the hat covered his emerald well. Right now he was Oak Leaf cookie, his mortal disguise.
He had planned to head out to the market today, mostly to buy some more unique mortal cookie food for Millenial Tree and possibly some bread for the forest critters he oh-so-loved. Although it was somewhat counterintuitive to eat as an immortal God, he enjoyed the tastes of some things. More specifically, this one fruit his husband would always bring him, it was called a pomegranate. It had the perfect mix of sour, sweet, and somewhat bitterness in its seeds that he enjoyed; as a plus the white skin was also edible while being beneficial to his health, a win-win.
He tried to position his wings secretly under the jacket, shuffling them as to not look so suspicious. Although to be fair, many mortal cookies had wings or tails, so this wouldn't be much of a sight to most. The difference? His had small sugar crystals hidden between the feathers, a gift from Sugar Swan cookie, and some intricate patterns that somewhat represented the wind's erratic yet elegant nature that would whirl with glee throughout the feathers. Most obvious about the wings was how they were adorned with jewelry from his husband, many silver and gold chains weaved between the feathers with love, some holding the other's feathers or even scales. He smiled happily at the memory, lowering the jacket to see his favorite charm that Fire Spirit cookie adorned his wings with, it was a glass piece shaped to look like a lily, the top held some of his husband's scales, ones he specified came from the small scale patch that covered his heart. He blushes at the memory, lifting the jacket back up and over his shoulders. His head wings were not as much of a call-out as his main wings, Fire Spirit had been instructed to avoid putting too much jewelry on them since excess decoration weight for that specific pair was far more of a hastle for Wind Archer.
Maybe he could buy some 'treasures' for his beloved. He chuckled, thinking back to how the latter would always treat his gifts as if the witches themselves handcrafted it for him. Even if it was something as simple as a keychain or a pair of fire-proof gloves his beautiful blaze would adore it.
He began to walk out from his small cabin that laid on a canopy of trees, something Fire Spirit would call a 'tree house' but Wind Archer would always just refer to it as a cabin. His feather tail brushes gently against the ground, it, unlike his wings, was not something he could so easily hide. Luckily his husband hasn't been able to adorn that piece of him with much jewelry yet, so it still looked some-what mortal like.
He went to where the Millenial Tree stood, looking up "father? " he called out. From the roots a tall being formed itself, taking the shape of Millenial Tree cookie.
"Yes my dear Millenial Tree forest resident? " he asked, looking down at him for a few seconds in confusion, trying to understand who it was.
"Father it is me, Wind Archer" he corrected, chuckling a bit as Millenial Tree looked at him with some shock. "it's alright, at least I know the disguise is good if it fooled you" he joked, shaking his head.
"Greatest apologies dear son, is it okay if I ask why are you dressed like such? " he asked, looking at him "it quite suites you though" he joked back.
"I would like to request permission to take a break from my duties for today and travel to the mortal ones markets? " he requested, looking up expectantly.
"Ah! Absolutely my dear, you are so hard-working you truly deserve the break! " he laughed, grinning "please enjoy yourself, if you ever need time off just ask, I'll be more than glad to grant you it. "
"Thank you father, I will be going off now" he replied, bowing a little. Millenial Tree waved him off a little, continuing to chuckle.
"Enjoy yourself my son" the latter replied, slowly returning back to the roots of the tree.
Wind Archer smiled, taking a deep breath of the fresh forest air before walking off into the trees. The forest was surprisingly very full of trees, by that he meant filled to the very brim with the tall leaved pillars that stemmed from the ground. He knew every single one by now though, throughout his eons defending this forest he has grown acquainted with each one. knowing them from back before they were even sprouts. He summoned a soft breeze behind him, allowing himself to move somewhat faster through the thick shrubbery.
It was not long until the canopy began thinning and the trees became more scarce, before him stood a tall arch with the words Kingdom written in massive letter across it. He took a deep breath, making one final check that his wings where hidden before he entered the streets, immediately being bombarded with loads of other cookies running errands or simply just shopping.
He glanced around through the sea of cookies, trying to see if he could find any familiar shop names. That's when he looked to his left to see Cumin Cookie's savory burritos written across a wall. Fire Spirit had once introduced him to the place, unintentionally making it one of Wind Archer's favorite eating spots. He went inside the small restaurant, already knowing exactly what to order. This is the place where Fire Spirit introduced Wind Archer to something called 'tofu,' it was a common meat alternative and surprisingly they made a 'burrito bowl' with the ingredient inside, simply prepared in a unique way to match the other flavors of the dish.
He walked up to the man at the register who smiled at him, clearly recognizing the man "ah! Oak Leaf cookie! It's nice to see your back in town! " he exclaimed, grinning "I'm assuming you will simply get your regular vegetarian burrito? " he asked.
"Yes, and may I also get the burrito with beef? " he asked, making Cumin cookie raise an eyebrow before he realized.
"Ah, getting something for your husband I see? Quite surprised he's not with you today, you two are like peas in a pod! " the comment made Wind Archer smile, chuckling a little himself.
"Yes, Fire Lily cookie will be visiting tonight so I wish to get something for him" he smiled, watching Cumin cookie type in the order into the register. It quite amazed him how much mortal cookies have progressed over his many years, now they had technology as they called it and 'wifi' or whatever, quite intriguing. But what was more surprising? The fact that Fire Spirit decided to keep his past mortal name for his disguise, it shocked Wind Archer. Usually Fire Spirit was a lot more quiet on the topic of his past so to have him keep such a nostalgic name is somewhat unusual. Nonetheless, Wind Archer loved him for that, frankly he loved Fire Spirit for everything about him.
He was pulled out of his thoughts by Cumin cookie's voice "your total is $12.38" he stated, looking up at Wind Archer who nodded, placing down the exact amount on the counter. Cumin nodded, counting it to double check before handing him a receipt "you should go sit down for now, I'll go make your burritos" he ushered Wind Archer to a table before heading back into the kitchen, preparing the meal.
Wind Archer looked out of the windows, admiring how lively the crowd of cookies outside was "strange, you make such good food, why don't you have more customers? " asked Wind Archer curiously, watching the man over the counter look back.
"I can't really control them, but hey those who try our food are the ones who know where the good stuff is! " he chuckled, setting down the bag with Wind Archer's food on the counter before putting a cold water next to it. "It's a hot day today, don't want you over heating so please take the water" he stated.
"Ah, thank you so much" replied Wind Archer, smiling back at the man before taking the food and walking to the exit "hope to see you soon again! " he called out to the other before waving.
"See you soon as well! " he replied, waving back. With that, Wind Archer left with the food in hand, glancing around. Another store he liked to stop by was right around the corner, he had once tried a drink called 'kompot' there, and to be fair he very much so enjoyed it. In large letters the words Earth Bread's delicacies where splayed across the wood. He looked up at the sun, noting he had some time left and so he entered the store.
Strangely enough, this one was also quite empty, although seemingly a 'supermarket' as some would say. He shrugged to himself before walking over to the bread section, noting the selection. He remembered that the ducks tended to enjoy the whiter variety, so that is what he took. He looked around to be bombarded by a whole spectrum of bread that was of all shades. He looked at it with confusion, walking up to a darker loaf and reading 'rye bread' why did cookies need so much variation in something as simply as bread? He quietly asked himself, although now quite intrigued in the rye bread. It was evident the loaf had some seeds on it, which caught his attention.
Wouldn't hurt to try would it?
He took the second loaf, putting it into his cart before continuing down some more isles, mostly getting things the Millenial forest animals enjoyed or things Millenial Tree liked, which all mostly consisted of vegetables and fruits. Wind Archer came up to the register person, setting down all the things he had bought before the person. While they figured out the price for him he unconsciously drifted into his thoughts, remembering an incident that involved a little kid. He had been standing in line for something, although he didn't exactly remember what it was when a little kid decided it would be comedic to take off his hat. As little kids do they did it, exposing his forehead gem to everyone. Most people didn't really care except for the mom of said kid who very clearly read just enough Earth-Bread history books to recognize him. She appologized like an insane person, dropping to her knees and praying for foregivness as if he would smite her down otherwise, very dramatic. He reassured her it was all okay before taking his hat back from the kid, sighing.
It was a funny memory to be fair, one he and Fire Spirit would often joke about. He took a break from his thinking when the register told him his total, some random amount. He set down the money on the counter, making sure the register confirmed it was the right amount before he left the store.
The market place was still packed, Wind Archer couldn't last a second without someone bumping into him. Quickly as he could he tried to scurry into another store, something along the lines of 'Hot Topic' or whatever, trying to just get away from the hoard of cookies.
"Whats up?" Someone behind the counter called out, he turned around to see what he would personally describe as the living gender-bent Fire Spirit. Although it was clear she preferred a more somewhat khaki color instead of Fire Spirit's red.
"Oh, hello" he answered, greeting her back. To be fair, the store itself looked like Fire Spirit's living heaven, numerous piercings lined a wall, all shapes and sizes where splayed across the place. He, to be fair, stuck out like a sore thumb here. Floral patterns and light green clothes don't camouflage him with the pitch black walls of the place. He decided to walk over to one of the many piercing walls, looking for the kinds Fire Spirit would often wear. He took off some spike ones while also grabbing a chained pair. He kept walking around, deciding it would be best to spoil his husband tonight, truly what was stopping him?
He grabbed two different belt chains that he believed his flame would enjoy before walking over to a more clothing-filled area. He noted a large jacket that had many flame designs on it, ones he personally liked. He went to the section where the jackets where sold, checking the logos to see they where fire proof in addition, likely made for stunts or whatever, but that would play in his husband's favor. He smiled, walking over to the counter and setting down all the items he had hand-picked for his beloved.
That's when he saw something from the corner of his eye.
He looked at it a little closer, noticing some... Colorful flames printed onto the packaging? It stated something about changing the color of fire, that was all Wind Archer needed to know.
He immediately took three packs and set them down onto the counter, watching the cashier look at him in amazement. "Ah! Finally people are starting to pay attention to those! They are definetly perfect for camping."
"That's perfect then, I'm going camping tomorrow, may as well bring some fun" he replied smoothly, his true intent hiding behind an Innocent mask of calmness. In truth, he was extremely excited to for one, see if his husband would agree to the idea and for two, see how his husband would look after said idea.
"Two steps ahead are we? Well I wish you a fun time" she replied "your total is... $84.23!" she stated, looking up at him. He nodded, paying the total before taking the bag with his things.
"Bye! " he called out, waving his hand.
"Farewell! Have fun on your camping trip! " she waved to him back. He left the store, sighing softly before a grin spread across his face. Put simple, he was excited to see how this gift would be received.
Upon finally reaching a spot in the forest far away enough from any cookies he took off his jacket and hat, allowing his wings to unfurl before he pushed himself up with a strong flap of his wings. The canopy from an upwards angle was borderline beautiful, a wide expanse of leaves spread wide in almost an even layer. From a distance he could see the Millenial Tree, standing far above all other trees. Instead of flying to the tree, he flew back to his cabin, more specifically the rock outside his cabin. It was a favorite sun-bathing spot of his.
He gracefully lowered into the small hole that was carved in the canopy, landing right beside the rock. As if on instinct, he lunged onto the rock and laid down on its surface, spreading out his wings before soaking in the stone's hot surface. Whenever he missed his lover he would simply lay down on the rock and sunbathe, the heat a subtle reminder of his beloved. He slowly stood up, stretching his wings some more before walking over to the bags, checking that everything was there. After making sure of such, he sat back down on the rock, spreading out his wings gently while shivering at the warm sun. He yawned, closing his eyes gently as he sunbathed, cooing to himself.
His sun-bathing session was quickly interrupted by a strong burst of wings as someone landed behind him. Although, he knew this presence, causing him not to turn around in worry but to continue to sit there calmly. Within a matter of seconds he felt warm hands brush through his wings, clearly preparing to preen them. He opened his eyes, turning around to see his beloved husband hard at work with his wings.
"Hello beautiful" stated Fire Spirit, looking up at Wind Archer who chuckled in response.
"Hello to you as well. " he chuckled, fluffing up his wings.
"No beautiful? " Fire Spirit teased, pinching off a damaged feather carefully. Wind Archer laughed, shaking his head.
"Okay my beautiful flame" he responded, shaking his head as the latter purred in approval. "I bought you some gifts" he stated, turning his head around again.
"Really? " Fire Spirit said with excitement, his wings raising in interest.
"Yes, but finish preening me first, my wings have been so uncomfortable lately, maybe when you finish I'll do yours too" he chuckled, turning back around and looking at himself.
"I am definetly not against that" Fire Spirit replied, finishing with one wing and gently running his hand through the soft feathers that were adorned with his treasures, a somewhat claim of his. He then moved to the other wing, pinching off the keratin shells and watching beautiful white-green feathers unfurl. Wind Archer did his head wings as well, making sure they also felt fresh. "What about your tail? Do you ever preen it?" Fire Spirit asked with interest.
"Mmm, sometimes, but not as often as my wings. It also usually isn't as hard as my wings though, so I do it myself." He stated.
"You should let me preen it sometime" he replied, finishing the other wing. "Alright, done" he smiled, looking at his work with pride.
"Your turn, turn around" Wind Archer cooed, watching the latter turn himself around and open his fairly much larger wings. Wind Archer hummed, turning himself around before examining the scales. Some loose and damaged scales fell out as he brushed his fingers over the wings. Strangely enough, Fire Spirit's wings were a very unique mix of pheonix and dragon, the wings themselves being like a dragons but some areas, more specifically the upper parts where the stretchy flesh connected to the boney part laid some blazing hot feathers, all holding the same iconic orange color. He collected the scales that fell off, keeping them in the palm of his hand. Sadly, Fire Spirit didn't let him keep them, saying they were 'not up to quality for his beloved wind' although to be honest, Wind Archer would wear them with glee if the latter allowed it.
Upon finishing with the wings he gently stroked the scales that lined Fire Spirit's back, collecting the loose ones from there as well. He finally reached the man's tail, stroking it from the base to about midway, watching his husband's back arch. "Hey, what are you doing? " he teased, giggling.
"Giving you a massage" replied Wind Archer, stroking the base again.
"You know I'm sensitive there... " he murmered, giggling like a little girl.
"Fine, I'll leave that for later" Wind Archer replied, tracing his hands down the rest of the tail, finally reaching the ten or so Pheonix feathers at the end, all combined to resemble a diamond somewhat. To Wind Archer's surprise, a new feather was clearly ready to be released from its shell. It was very rare that he could actually preen Fire Spirit's feathers since, well, the shell would usually burn off after enough time. He took this opportunity whole-heartedly, gently pinching the shell off and watching as the feather unfurled itself. He looked at it with somewhat amazement, brushing his hand against the extremely hot yet soft feather. "Alright, done" he stated to Fire Spirit who stood up, stretching himself while yawning, Wind Archer giggled at the sight, watching the beautiful new feather shine like the sun as Fire Spirit moved his tail around.
"Now, mister my-beloved wind, I demand to see what you got me" he joked, turning around and looking at the bags with interest.
"Alright alright" he took out the burritos, showing them to Fire Spirit who nodded in approval. "Now, you can look through this bag on your own" he smiled, handing a seemingly normal bag to Fire Spirit who now eyed it suspiciously.
Everything was worth it when he saw his husband's reactions.
Fire Spirit gasped at the chains and jewelry, immediately putting them on with excitement. He adored the new jacket, especially upon realizing it was fire proof, simply put, that thing was shoved on him in a matter of seconds . He then looked at the bottom, finding the fire changing packets and looking up at Wind Archer. "Don't tell me-"
"I want to put them in your hair" he replied, watching Fire Spirit sigh, smiling himself.
"Anything for you my love" he stated, handing Wind Archer the packets and getting on his knees "wait, wouldn't I have to ingest them? " he asked.
"Why? " Wind Archer raised an eyebrow.
"The fire on my head isn't exactly burning on like logs or whatever, it's like a piece of me and it never goes out as long as I eat" he stated, raising an eyebrow.
"How would you eat them though? Don't you like not have a digestive system exactly? " he asked.
"My beloved dumbass, how else do I eat the burritos? " he teased. "No, it just needs to be ignitable then I can have it"
"So you don't digest it? " Wind Archer asked.
"Dear, we have been married for eons, are you just NOW realizing this? " Fire Spirit laughed.
"Okay okay, I get it, you have to eat it" he nodded, watching Fire Spirit cover up his mouth as to not laugh.
Wind Archer rolled his eyes, handing the packet over to Fire Spirit who swallowed it all without a second thought. Chewing it while raising as eyebrow "tastes like charcoal" he murmered, turning around to see his husband look at him with border line amazement. He looked over at his tail, seeing his feathers become beautiful shades of blue, green, and purple. He giggled, turning back around to see Wind Archer still looking in amazement. "Like what you see~? " teased Fire Spirit, recieving a surprisingly calm nod as his husband watched him like he was the very sun.
Fire Spirit blushed at the action, staring into Wind Archer's eyes as they looked at him with pure love and adoration. Somehow his face managed to get redder even though it was already the deepest shade of said color. Wind Archer gently took one of Fire Spirit's wings, spreading them and tracing the feathers that had gained new colors gently. He looked back at Fire Spirit, smiling as he fluffed up his own feathers, gently cupping Fire Spirit's face. "You look like stained glass on a sunny day, vibrant, unique, and just absolutely breath taking" he cooed before gently kissing Fire spirit, holding him close.
Fire Spirit's flames exploded at the action as he stared in awe at the man above him. Wind Archer giggled, brushing his hands carefully over Fire Spirit's horns. "Hand me another package this very moment" Fire Spirit joked, in love with the gaze Wind Archer gave him while he looked like that.
"No, I want to admire your orange and yellow flames now, I have realized I take them for granted too often" Wind Archer replied, watching the darker colors slowly fade from the flame, revealing the iconic yellow one. Wind Archer gently stroked his hand through the remanents of Fire Spirit's mortal hair. It was surprisingly warm, even though it belonged to the very god of flames. He smiled at the waviness of it, gently pushing away the strand that hid Fire Spirit's burned eye. His hand gently stroked up Fire Spirit's horns as he watched the fire warp around the pillars. He looked at him, gently kissing his forehead before pulling away. He pulled Fire Spirit up, pointing to the bags. "May you help me carry these to our home? " he asked.
"Absolutely my breeze" answered Fire Spirit, still staring at Wind Archer with pure admiration.
He loved his beautiful flame.

Later in the day Fire Spirit was laying on the couch belly-down. Meanwhile, Wind Archer sat on his legs, gently massaging the scaled area on the latter's back as Fire Spirit purred deeply, kneeding the soft fabric of the couch.
"Your like a cat" Wind Archer joked, smiling.
"Say what ever you want love" the other replied, his wings spreading out some more over the floor.
"I'm going to shoot you if you continue to flirt" he stated, looking away as a blush spread through his cheeks.
"Then I will gladly be purified by your arrows" Fire Spirit flirted back, giggling. Wind Archer shook his head, giggling to himself.
"Alright, whatever you say my flame" he murmered, lowering Fire Spirit's tail before laying on Fire Spirit, sighing deeply.
The fire god turned around, allowing Wind Archer to lay on his stomach. He gently brushed his head into Wind Archer's hair, taking in the other's smell with another low pur. Carefully, Wind Archer spread his wings over the two, Fire Spirit returned the favor by also wrapping his around them both, yawning. "Goodnight my Windy" murdered Fire Spirit, kissing Wind Archer's forehead.
"Still shocks me how you can call me Windy even though we are married" he joked, snuggling into Fire Spirit's warmth.
"Goodnight would have done it" laughed Fire Spirit, shaking his head before receiving a gentle forehead kiss.
"Alright then, goodnight my love" Wind Archer replied.
"Goodnight to you as well" Fire Spirit murmered, closing his eyes gently. The lovers drifted off to sleep in said position, soft flames crackling in background.

Millenial Tree had entered the cabin, looking around for the food Wind Archer said he would bring to find the bags sitting at the entrance. Deciding to be quiet, he gently walked through the house to the living room to find exactly what he expected. The two where coiled up against each other, deep in sleep, Wind Archer hazily opened an eye, looking up at Millenial Tree as his mouth started to open.
"No worries my son, please keep sleeping it's nothing important" he reassured, watching his guardian nod before closing his eyes and falling asleep against Fire Spirit's neck again.
Now Millenial Tree could see what Timekeeper cookie meant, they were a perfect couple.
