Summary
‘He smelled of death the first time she stood close enough to him to notice. Not putrid and thick like rot — no, it was more elegant and clinical than that. A subtle smell, not entirely unwelcome, that carried notes of bleach and the heady, intoxicating scent of blood. A scent only somebody well-versed in such matters would recognise. She hadn't killed before, and had no intention of doing so, but was familiar with the unique and rich smell of blood.’
