Chapter Text
As the sun rose, casting its rays upon the humble town of Whitscar, our unexpected hero, Candy, awakens to the sound of morning birds singing. The light is shining directly on her face, which makes her groan and cover herself even more- her bed looking more like a nest of sorts.
"Why the fuck is the sun so bright..." she murmured to herself, a rhetoric question because the sun is always bright. Candy sighed as she slowly got up, her mind still foggy and her senses not quite there, "I really need to buy new curtains... ugh.." she groaned, voice hoarse from just having woken up. Getting on her feet, she groggily made her way to the kitchen to make breakfast, but then she remembered she can't cook so... she had to go outside, again. Obviously, she got dressed in a nice light purple sundress, with pretty black loafers and a cute white bonnet that matched her dress, and made her way out of the door. Candy had just planned on buying a few things: a loaf of bread, butter, some fresh fruits, and some milk. You know, just regular things.
But, as she walked into the city centre, something had caught her eye. A crowd was gathered around the notice board in the heart, along with it were loud gasps and gossip. Candy could make out the words "saving" and "reward" which did intrigue her (I mean, who doesn't love a reward?) So, she pushed through the crowd, heart pumping with excitement to see this thing first-hand, and she wasn't disappointed in the slightest! The flyer read [HELP WANTED! Please, if anyone can, my son has been kidnapped by the dragon "The Great Evil" you all know him by! Please, help me! And, I promise 1 billion million zillion gold to whomever saves him. - The King] Holy fucking shit THE KING?! YOOOOOOO
Candy realised the gravity of the situation, and that the prince was in great danger! The reward was tempting alright... the king promised riches that seemed too good to be true, and she would become famous for saving the prince after all. Blinded by greed and a desire for recognition, she took the flyer off of the board and declared to the people before her that she would "Save the prince and bring Whitscar fame and glory that it deserves!" Instantly the crowd cheered and gave Candy encouragement, because they're sheeple and they believe anything anyone who sounds authoritative enough says. So, with a heavy heart, she went back home to take out her gear she had left to gather dust in for a few years. She was a retired knight of The Order, and served them diligently. "It wouldn't hurt to go on one last journey, eh?" Candy mused, staring and the grime covered armour and sword she had left all those years ago. After a quick wipe down, they looked good as new, almost even better than before!
And, with a heavy heart, she stepped out of the door and proudly marched towards the gates. People followed behind her, waving and giving her their blessings and well wishes before she fared forth to complete the most daunting of tasks.
