Summary
Seven years ago, journalist Sylvia Heartinger left her home in Paradis to try and understand what was left of the world after the rumbling. She quickly realised there was a lot of nothing.
Radicalised by what she saw, Sylvia decides to make one last trip to the island of Kerensa, to speak to the only person involved in stopping Eren Jaegar, who answered her letters - Reiner Braun, who now lives in self-imposed isolation, making very bad tables.
On the island, Sylvia is met with a dilemma. She hates Reiner Braun, a man who was directly responsible for the death of her mother and brother. She should kill him, but she needs his words, his story, to try and understand the unfathomable act that wiped out most of the human race.
Through their conversations, both Sylvia and Reiner are confronted with uncomfortable new feelings, moral dilemmas and are forced to question what it would take for humanity to live in peace.
