Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - The Encounter
Chapter Text
It was a beautiful day, the warm rays of the sun felt comfortable and calming, and there was no dark cloud in sight. It was the perfect day to be outside and take advantage of this beautiful gift of a day, and that is what Izuku was doing.
He had taken his sketch book and a glass jar and went butterfly hunting. Going to parks where there are more flowers and a higher rate of catching some butterflies, he sneakily manages to capture some.
Currently, he has just finished drawing a picture of a butterfly into his sketchbook, where he wrote down what kind of butterfly he captured, and it was a yellow one. He would write down the name and height and draw patterns. Once he was finished, he would take his glass jar and open the lid, releasing the beautiful insect back to the sky where it belongs.
Walking around the park, Izuku searched for more butterflies to add to his research. He had captured the most common butterflies in the area and was looking for something different. After a bit of walking, he saw something shimmering close by in a bush. It captured his attention.
Izuku took a few quiet steps forward and saw large wings sparkling, and that got him excited. It was another butterfly, and the best part was that he had never seen this kind of butterfly before. If he could capture it, it would be a lifetime opportunity, because it could be a rare kind of butterfly.
Taking a sneaky, silent step forward and holding the glass jar at the ready with the metal lid. Izuku stalked the butterfly like a cat would a mouse, and when the time was ready, he acted quickly and surprisingly managed to capture it. He felt so happy and looked eagerly at the insect.
Izuku couldn't believe his eyes, he thought it was another butterfly. However, as he took a closer look at the shiny wings and the tiny body, he was staring at a fairy. He couldn't believe his eyes, it was a real fairy looking baffled right back at him. The lid was closed tightly, but it has a few holes, so oxygen wouldn't be a problem.
He always believed fairies were real, but Kacchan always told him not to believe in baby tales and reasoned it was a waste of time.
Walking over to a large tree that provided a lot of shade, Izuku sat down and placed his sketchbook next to him, while he looked more closely at the fairy he had captured. The fairy has short white hair, crimson red eyes and his clothing was made of a golden glitter, like a suit going all the way down. However, the wings were very large and had the same beautiful golden shimmer as the suit.
“It's alright, I won't hurt you. I just want to borrow you for a little while for my book.” Izuku smiled and placed the glass jar gently on the ground, while he grabbed his sketch book and started to get to work and draw the fairy.
After five to ten minutes, he was done drawing and happy with his work. He had written down little information about the fairy's apprentice and height. Izuku then turned the sketchbook to the fairy and happily said.
“What do you think?”
The fairy didn't look very impressed at the drawing of himself, but pointed at the butterfly on the next page. He asked a question, and his words sounded like soft ringing bells.
“Oh, you sound like a small bell when you speak. That is so interesting and cool! I never heard a fairy speak before, and I had no idea your kind sounded like.” The child mumbled excitedly as he wrote that down onto the fairy page. He wondered if the fairy would be willing to talk more and get more information about it.
“Would you be willing to answer some of my questions? I promise to release you afterwards.” Izuku asked with hopeful eyes, looking down at the fairy.
He heard more bell sounds coming from the fairy; by the tone of the soft bells, it sounded like the other was agreeing to answer a few of his questions.
“Thank you! Where do you come from?” The child asked and saw the fairy say something, and pointed up.
Izuku didn't understand what the fairy meant. And looked up, the sunny, clear blue sky greeted him from the tree branches. “Are you saying that fairies come from the sky?”
The white hair fairy laughed inside the glass jar and shook his head left and right, saying no, in amusement. He looked at the child and pointed to his own mouth and later to his ears, and hoped the child understood him.
“Pointing to your mouth and ears?” Izuku questioned, confused. He saw the fairy repeat this a few times and wondered what it meant. “My ears are not dirty, unless you mean you want me to listen.”
At that last part, he saw the fairy nod and pointed at the ears and spoke again, sadly, the words were still ringing like bells. And then pointed at his mouth.
“Oh! I think I understand. You want me to listen to you.” Izuku smiled and saw the fairy nod once again.
“-Bell sounds- come -bell sound- land.” The fairy spoke, and saw the child's face light up.
“Ahh! I understood you! But only a little! Is this what you meant? If I listen closely enough, I would understand you?” Izuku asked excitedly and heard the fairy respond with a “Yes.”
“Amazing!” Izuku quickly wrote this new piece of information down on the fairy page. And looked at the fairy.
“You mentioned before something about come and land. Do fairies come from an island? Or another part of the country? Or do you just simply live around us humans and we don’t know it?”
“Neither, we -bell sounds- Neverland,” the fairy replied. Still finding this child interesting and adorable, how curious he is.
“Oh, I see, so not here then, but neverland. I never heard of such a place. Where is it?” Izuku asked curiously. He had studied the world map, and it didn’t sound like a country he was familiar with.
“A faraway, magical land -bell sounds-. I could show you if you like,” the fairy offered with a gentle smile.
“You can take me there?” the child asked, astonished and stunned at the proposal. Would there be more fairies there? If so, would they show how they all lived there? The idea of knowing what fairies ate, lived, and worked intrigued him.
“-Bell sound- course, -bell sounds- simple journey,” the fairy answered and couldn’t believe his luck. He was looking around for some children to bring back home, preferably children whose first laugh as babies had granted fairies their lives.
But unexpectedly, he was captured by this green-haired child. Fortunately, this child wasn’t stupid and had also sparked All for one’s interest. This glass jar prison wasn’t so bad. At least the child was thoughtful enough to grant him oxygen.
“Really?” Izuku asked, but was interrupted as suddenly, someone pushed him from the back.
“Nice day, isn’t it, Deku?” Katsuki smirked and kicked the sketchbook out of reach of the other child's hands. “Still drawing bugs? How pathetic.”
“K-kacchan, t-that’s mean. I-I’m just researching and writing down my findings,” the green-haired child answered. It wasn’t wrong to dream of becoming a researcher. And added. “And those aren’t bugs, they are insects.”
“Are you calling me dumb, nerd?” Katsuki glared at him angrily and took a few steps forward and noticing something shining from behind Izuku, and pointed at it. “What is that?”
“That is… It’s… fireflies!” Izuku quickly lied and tried to hide the glass jar by placing his jacket over it.
“That is it! You're dead meat!” the blond yelled in frustration and went for another punch. He may not know much about insects, but even a fool knows that fireflies don’t glow during the day. Did Deku think of him as an idiot?
Izuku quickly dodged the punch and grabbed his sketchbook and the glass jar, and made a run for it. He couldn’t let the blond get his hands on this fairy, he would no doubt try to squish it to death. So he ran to the only safe place he knew. Home.
Once he reached the apartment, Izuku was exhausted from his run. He had never run like that before, but the need to protect this fairy had fueled him enough to run faster than usual. Opening the door to his apartment, he stepped inside and knew that he was safe now.
“I’m home!” Izuku greeted, and heard no reply and wondered why that was. He took off his shoes and walked to the kitchen, where a note was left for him. Explaning that his mother went out grocery shopping and would return soon, she also wrote down that there was some leftover food if he was hungry.
“Looks like I’m alone for a little while.” Izuku put the note down on the table and also placed the glass jar there, and placed the jacket in the chair.
“Sorry about earlier. Kacchan can be a bit rough, and I couldn’t let him see you, he wouldn’t be nice.” Izuku explained and wondered what to do next as the fairy looked annoyed. “Are you hungry? I know we have some fruit in the fridge.”
Izuku opened the fridge and took out some starberries and showed them. “My name is Izuku, sorry I didn’t introduce myself earlier. What is yours?”
“-Bell sounds- is all for one. However -bell sounds- your Majesty.” All for one introduced himself to the child and saw the shocked expression the child made, and dropped the package of strawberries on the floor.
“Y-your… m-majesty? You’re a king?!” Izuku asked, stunned at the fairy.
“Yes, -bell sounds- you dropped the strawberries,” the fairy pointed out. Amused by the boy's reaction, it was adorable.
“Sorry, let me clean those.”
Izuku picked up the small package of strawberries. He then opened the package and started to wash them at the kitchen sink. Once finished, he placed them on a plate and on the table.
“There, all done,” Izuku said, and looked at the fairy, who was still trapped inside the glass jar. “Don’t panic, I'm going to open the jar lid so we can enjoy the fruit.”
All for one nodded and let the child continue. When the lid was gone, he flew out of his prison and landed at the table. Looking at the strawberries, he smiled and said, “They are too large for me to eat.”
“I can fix that,” Izuku responded and went to the kitchen cabinets to take a small child-proof knife to cut the fruit into tinier pieces and asked. “Is this better?”
“Much better.” All for one replied. It would be rude not to try the fruits, after all, he was the child's guest. He reached out with his hand and took a cut piece and bit into it, the strawberry tasted nice as such fruits should.
“I'm sorry for capturing you. I didn't know you were a king, and I would understand if you don't want to see me anymore.” Izuku apologised. He shouldn't have captured the fairy, but he didn't know fairies existed until a little while ago.
“There is no need for that,” the fairy said, and finished eating the tiny piece of strawberry in his hands.
“Are you sure?” Izuku saw the fairy nod confidently and looked up at him.
“I am, don't you want to see my home?” All for one asked gently with a kind smile.
Izuku’s face lit up in excitement and curiosity. He couldn't deny that he would love to see where the fairy lived. Did they only eat fruits? How did they survive the different seasons, and what did they do all day?
“I do want to see where you live, is it far from here?” Izuku asked and wondered if he could return home before his mum would get worried.
“Not at all, Neverland is very close to everywhere.”
“What do you mean it's close to everywhere?” Izuku said, confused. This didn't make any sense.
“The path to Neverland is covered in magic. I could return you home within the hour.” All for one informed and saw the relief in the child's eyes.
“That's good. I want to return home before my mother does. I don't want her to worry.” Izuku replied and thought a quick trip to the fairy's home wouldn't hurt if the fairy could return him at the promised time.
“You will be back before you know it.” The fairy promised and flew above the child's head and added. “Try to think of happy thoughts.”
Izuku watched in amazement as the fairy's hand sparkled golden dust onto him. Izuku held out his hand and tried to catch some of the shimmering dust, and found out that it was rather sticky on his hands and everywhere it touched.
“What is this?” He asked, admiring its beauty.
“Pixie dust. Now, how about those happy thoughts? You won't be able to fly otherwise.” All for one stated. That should be enough of pixie dust, he thought.
“Fly?” Izuku asked, baffled. There was no way for a human to fly unless one was a pilot.
“Yes, fly. Give it a try.” The fairy urged, watching the child eagerly.
“O-okay.” Izuku thought it would be worth a try and doubted he could fly. But if happy thoughts were all that was required, it wouldn't be so hard to do. Thinking back to a happy memory he had with his mother, and watching his favourite hero shows on TV. Izuku soon noticed his feet weren't touching the kitchen floor.
“Woa!” Izuku held out his arms, trying to balance himself as he floated in the air. It felt so strange to be weightless, almost like he was swimming.
“Ah!” Izuku felt his head hit the sealing lap and looked down at the fairy who giggled at the sight. “Could you help me, please. I don't know what to do.”
“Hold out your arms and keep your legs together.” All for one instructed and flew over to the child to help correct him. Looking at the green-haired child floating in the right pose, he smiled.
“Perfect, now we just need an open window.”
“I can help with that if I can get over there.” Izuku pointed at the kitchen window, which would be easy enough to open.
“You should be able to fly over to the window. Happy thoughts help you float, but you need to use your will to fly over there.” All for one explained and landed on the table, and took a few steps. “It's like walking, just imagine flying over there with your mind.”
“Alright.” Izuku looked at the kitchen window and tried to imagine flying over there like the fairy told him. To his surprise, it worked. He was slowly flying over to the window.
“Well done.” All for one praised the smiling child. The boy was a fast learner, which made things easier for him. He watched as the child reached the window and shortly after opened it. Looking outside, the sun was slowly going down as the evening dark sky started to come in, and with it, the stars.
Flying next to the child. All for one pointed to the second star. “Do you see that star?”
Izuku looked up where the fairy was pointing and nodded. It was a pretty star as it shone in the sky. “What about it?”
“That's how we will travel to Neverland.” All for one explained and saw the excitement in the child's eyes.
“That's so cool! But how do you travel through a star? They are in space, how come you don’t get suffocated through the journey?” Izuku asked, and saw the fairy chuckle in amusement.
“You don't need to worry about such silly things. The journey to Neverland is a magical one, as I said before. Time also works differently over there, a few days there is as a day here.” All for one informed the curious child. But it would be best to get going before the child's mother arrived. And added.
“Just follow me and you will be alright.”
Izuku saw the fairy fly out through the window and waited for him to follow. Izuku decided to trust the fairy and follow him out to the open sky. It was a bit cold as the wind hit his face.
“Brr, it's a bit chilly. Can I just go back to get my jacket?” Izuku asked and saw the fairy frown a little, but it was quickly replaced with a smile.
“Allow me, I'll be back in a moment,” the fairy replied and flew back into the apartment to get the green jacket.
In the meantime. Izuku looked down at the city and saw some cars moving around and people walking. He then looked up at the stars and at the one the fairy pointed at before. He could never have imagined that fairies came from another part of the world, and he was going to visit that place.
“Here we go.” All for one returned with the jacket and helped put it on Izuku. “Feeling better now?”
“Yeah, much better. Thank you.” Izuku agreed and zipped the jacket shut, feeling already a little warmer.
“Good, as I said earlier. It is this way.” All for one took Izuku’s hand and led him up to the sky.
They both were flying high and higher up until they got close enough to the star, it opened like a portal, in different shining lights. Izuku was forced to blink a few times as the light was bright, but the colours were beautiful as if they were from a diamond. Soon, the light disappeared and below him was a large island.
“Wow, is this your home? It looks amazing!” Izuku watched the island in astonishment. He wondered how the adults back home could have missed a magical place like this.
“This is just the surface. The real treasure is the pixie tree and the four seasons that we fairies work so hard to bring to the mainland.” All for one said. He still held onto the child's hand and led him towards the island.
“Wait, what did you mean by fairies working hard with the seasons?” Izuku asked. Looking below him, he could see a large forest, but ahead, he noticed areas that seemed to look like different seasons.
“Fairies help change the seasons. Did you think the butterflies you wrote about got their patterns naturally? That is the fairy's job.”
“Really?” Izuku asked and saw that he was flying over a field of flowers, and there in the distance, something small was flying over the flowers. Fairies.
“Of course, we have arrived at spring and summer. Here we prepare everything from flowers, animals, to insects.” All for one informed and watched the exciting gaze of the child's face. And added.
“How about I show you the butterflies? I'm sure some are being painted as we speak.”
“Yes, please!” Izuku replied in excitement as the fairy king flew him over to a field where there were more fairies. Izuku couldn't help but look baffled at the sight, there were so many of them.
The fairies below were busy working on their tasks. Some planted flowers, others moved birds and squirrels, some gathered berries into large baskets, and some painted the insects like ladybugs and bees. Izuku watched with interest as the fairy dressed in orange as the male fairy moved his brush on a butterfly who has one blank wing and painted it yellow.
“This is so amazing! How do you decide what kind of butterfly to paint? How many do you paint during the day? Are the rules on how many common and rare butterflies you can paint? How do you fairies transport them? And where do you get the paint?” Izuku asked enthusiastically. There was so much he wanted to know.
All for one stared at the child who stopped asking questions to take a few breaths and look at them with a bright smile, waiting for answers.
“So many questions. A few are painted daily, and the rarity of what kind of butterflies are chosen at random. Usually, we use birds to transport the insect to the mainland. The paints we create are made by using fruits and other green herbs. I hope this answered your questions.”
“That makes sense. Can we meet some of the fairies below?” Izuku looked down at the fairies, they all looked so different, like humans who come in all different sizes and colours.
“I’m afraid not. The fairies here are slowly preparing for their season by gathering materials, the animals and insects. It takes time and months to get each season ready for the next, and we don’t waste time.”
“Oh, so everyone is always busy working?” the child looked disappointed.
“Yes, but in the evening, when everyone has finished working. The fairies relax and do what they please. At times, some will play with the children here at the island,” the fairy king informed, and led them both up to the sky again and flew over to the next season, fall and winter.
“There are children here?” Izuku was surprised. He thought he was the first child here.
“Of course there are. We fairies are happy to spend time playing with the other kids.” All for one smiled. All thu as the king, he himself didn’t have that much time to spend with the children. But he just might make time for this child.
“How many are there?” The child asked curiously.
“A few, but enough for you to make a friend or two.” The fairy replied.
Soon they both arrived at Fall, and everything from the trees to the flowers is orange and red. As usual fairies below were working away with collecting food for the animals, and the wind fairies practised their winds onto the trees, blowing away leaves. The animal fairies helped teach the animals to find food and store it for winter.
Izuku couldn't help but wonder if scientists were wrong about animal instincts, it seems that the fairies are responsible for teaching such things to them. But who would believe him if he said that to an adult back home? Probably no one. Still, there was so much to see, and he could spot winter on the other side of Fall, but the fairy just stopped at the border.
“Aren't we going to enter winter next?” Izuku asked. He wondered what fairies did in that season, and currently he was wearing his jacket, so the cold wouldn't be an issue.
“We aren't. Winter is forbidden to cross, you may look at it from here, but don't cross the border. After all, I don't want you to get a cold or frostbite.”
“But, why can't we cross? Winter is an amazing season.” The child stated. Christmas was always stunning, and there is so much one can do in winter like ice-skating, building a snowman and making snow angels.
“Fairies that cross the border break their wings from the cold, which leaves them unable to fly. Children who cross over are left sick. It's best to avoid this place. Can you promise me that?”
“Alright, I will stay away from the border.” The child agreed, but seemed sad about it.
“Good, now that was all the season here. I'm sure you want to explore more of them on your own time, but remember not to disturb the fairies at their work.” All for one said gently and flew them both up into the sky and headed towards the pixie tree.
“I will keep that in mind,” Izuku replied. He didn’t want to ruin the fairies' hard work. “Where are we going now?”
“To the pixie tree, there is a small test I wish for you to try.” The fairy king informed the child as they got closer to their destination.
“What kind of test?” Izuku asked, curiously.
“When children are brought here, we have a test for the child. The test shows if your laughter as a baby brought life to a fairy.”
“Wow, that is amazing! So there is a chance that when I was a baby, my laugh gave life to a fairy. Wait, is that how fairies are born? I never knew fairies were created that way, but it makes sense because you are magical creatures. Does that mean fairies grow up like humans? If so, how long do you live?”
“Izuku, use one question at a time. For your first question, yes, that is how a fairy is born. However, we are born as adults, and our lifespan is the same as that of a human.” The fairy king answered. The child he had chosen was a real thinker. Maybe he would enjoy the company of the tinker fairies.
Izuku watched the tiny fairy in amazement, that was so much he was learning from him. Too bad he didn't have his notebook, otherwise, a few of the pages would have been full of fairy knowledge.
Soon they reached the pixie tree, and it was breathtaking at how big it was. Flying inside Izuku saw the same golden dust all for one had sprinkled on him, flowing out from this tree. It clicked that the pixie dust was coming from here.
“Wait here.” All for one commanded before letting go of his hand and flying away.
It didn't take long before the fairy returned with more fairies following him behind, but carrying a bowl that seemed to be filled with pixie dust.
“Just laugh happily, and the pixie dust will react to it and show us your fairy.” All for one informed and touched the pixie dust in the bowl with his hand. At that moment, the pixie dust changed into many colours, sparkling like many diamonds.
“O-okay.” Izuku replied nervously. He looked down at the bowl and tried his best laugh, which sounded awkward.
The pixie dust reacted to his laughter, and it changed colour to white. Everyone was watching the dust as it moved up from the bowl and shaped into a fairy.
“Wow, this is amazing,” Izuku whispered, and watched amazed at the white pixie dust that formed a muscular fairy with a large smile. He also looked over at All for one and noticed one of the fairy’s eyes twitch, and didn't seem so pleased.
“So… that’s my fairy, right. Who is that?” The child asked the fairy king.
“No one important, sadly.” The fairy king replied, and his fairies behind him nodded in agreement with their king.
“Well… can I meet him?” Izuku asked, curiously.
“Unfortunately, that is impossible.” All for one answered and ordered his fairies away with the pixie bowl as they bowed and flew away.
“What do you mean it’s impossible?” The child looked sad at the fairy.
“It's impossible to meet your fairy because he is a winter fairy, and as I went over one of the Rules here, we cannot enter winter.”
“Oh, that explains why I can't meet him. I really would like to.” Izuku said, and watched as the fairy grabbed his hand and led him elsewhere as they both flew through the sky.
“There is no need to be disappointed, there are plenty of other fairies you can meet. For example, I believe the tinker fairies will be thrilled to hear your thoughts and ideas.”
“What is a tinker fairy?” Izuku looked down once again and saw a few fairies transporting some fruit in large leaf baskets.
“Tinker fairies are our builders. They create the tools we use to the houses we live in, and like you, they are problem solvers.” All for one answered.
“Oh? That is so cool, I wouldn’t mind meeting some tinker fairies.” Izuku smiled at the fairy king. It did sound quite interesting to see how the fairies make their equipment and what they depend on.
“Of course, you can meet some tomorrow. For now, I believe it would be good if you met the rest of the children on the island. They will show you around, and don’t worry, they are friendly.” All for one informed and could see the house he had his fairies build for the children just ahead.
“Wait, are you sure? I’m quite shy.” Izuku wasn’t sure what to think. He wasn’t popular in school and was often left alone.
“Don’t you want to make a friend or two while you are here?” the fairy asked him while flying him over to the human-looking house made out of wood before them. It had two floors and was quite large.
“I… Maybe?” Izuku said, uncertainly. It would be nice to have a friend for once.
Looking at the house before him, it looked like those old wooden cabins in the forest that he had seen often on TV. However, the door opened and a few children came out from the wooden house, and they all looked up at him and at All for one.
“Children gather around! We have a new addition to the family.” All for one announced as he slowly flew over and placed Izuku gown to the ground with the fairy dust. The children eagerly looked at the green-haired child, who blushed shyly.
“Aww, he is so cute,” a blond girl with two hair tails smiled.
Izuku couldn’t help but blush even more and used his jacket to try to hide his face a little.
“This is Izuku. Show him around, explain the rules to him and be kind as you are to each other.” All for one spoke and watched as the children nodded at his words. Smiling, he said.
“Good. For now, I must take my leave. Be good, Izuku.”
Izuku watched as the fairy king flew away, leaving him alone with the children. Looking at the other kids, he noticed that some were seven years old and others were ten, like himself. But why did the fairy leave him here with them? All for one did say to him, Make new friends.
“Hello, I’m Tenya, and this is Ochaco.” Tenya introduced himself. He was wearing a white t-shirt with black shorts and also had a pair of glasses. The girl next to him smiled and waved her hand, she was wearing a pink dress that has flower images on it.
“I’m Shoto.” Another child introduced himself. His hair was half white and red, and he was wearing a white shirt with blue short pants.
“And I am Toga! Welcome to the island!” the blond girl from earlier smiled, looking cheerfully at him. She had this large yellow shirt on.
“N-nice… to meet… you.” Izuku replied nervously.
“Right, introductions are over. Let’s talk about the rules!” Tenya excitedly said and walked over to Izuku. And added. “Listen carefully, these three Rules must be followed.”
“O-okay, w-what are they?” Izuku asked, still nervous of the others.
“I’m glad you asked. Rule number one, no crossing the winter border. Rule number two, no interfering with fairies when they work. And lastly, rule number three, no pixie dust allowed, unless a fairy is with you.”
“Is that it?” Izuku asked. And saw the boy nod in affirmative. Why would there be only three rules to follow? Surely, more is required for children. His mum would say that rules are there to protect you.
“How about we show you the house! Oh, you can sleep next to my bed!” Toga smiled excitedly and grabbed his hand, took him inside the house.
“Wait! You can’t just drag him around, he is a person!” Tenya protested at the blond girl and added. “And we all sleep together upstairs, it doesn’t matter which bed he takes!”
Izuku looked around the house now that he was inside it was indeed spacious, but the tables and chairs were made out of wood and couch had green moss on it with a blanket covering it. There was a few windows and stairs leading upstairs, where he guessed must be where they all were sleeping.
“This is nice and all, but I’m not staying.” Izuku carefully took his hand out of Toga’s grip.
“What are you talking about. You are our new brother.” Toga smiled, but seemed a bit hurt that he wanted to leave.
“I just agreed to see where the fairies live. I will need to leave soon to return to my mother.” Izuku explained. All for one did say he would bring him back home before his mum would know he was gone.
“You have been fooled, like the rest of us,” the child said with the half red and white hair walked over to him and Toga as the rest stood by the door, watching.
“W-wh-at?” What… do you mean by that?” Izuku looked worriedly at him and saw the serious expression Shoto was looking at him.
“You are stuck here. Like us, we too were tricked by fairies and were kidnapped to this island,” Shoto told him the truth about his situation.
“T-that… can’t be.” Izuku looked shocked at the news. “All for one said he would take me back home!”
“All lies to take you here, you have been deceived!” Shoto explained harshly.
Izuku couldn’t help but feel his tears come running down his cheeks. Shoto’s eyes are so cold as ice, and the words hurt like burns from fire. But he could think of that. Did the fairy king lie to him all this time? Would he never see his mother again?
“It’s okay, we are here for you” Ochaco walked over to Izuku, trying to calm him down, only for him to take a few steps back. She felt bad for what had happened.
She then shifted her eyes to Shoto and said. “You didn’t have to tell him the truth.”
“Would you rather believe a lie?” Shoto questioned her, and she answered. “N-no.”
“J-ju-st… tell me why.” Izuku looked down at the floor, heartbroken.
“Why, what silly?” Toga asked, not understanding what he meant.
“W-why would fairies kidnap us? We are just kids.” Izuku cried as he tried to wipe some of his tears off.
“I can answer that.” Tenya replied and stepped forward. “Fairies are magical creatures that exist outside logical explanations of our understanding. Something that small should be able to be that smart or have talents in nature. But, they depend on faith of-”
“They need children to believe in them.” Ochaco interrupted him and shifted her gaze to Izuku. “That is why they took us, we believe in fairies.”
“And we have fairies of our own! Mine is called Twice, and he is an animal fairy!” Toga smiled cheerfully.
“Yes, all are correct answers. My fairy name is Momo, and she is a proud tinker fairy.” Tenya inform.
“Who is your fairy?” Toga asked curiously.
“I don’t know his name, but I do know he is a winter fairy,” Izuku replied and walked out from the house added. “I-I need some air.”
His world was falling apart as he continued to try his tears. He couldn’t believe that he had been kidnapped by a fairy he trusted. Why did he trust the fairy in the first place? Was it because of curiosity? Or that something so tiny and harmless could be trusted? It was a mistake.

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - The Crossing
Chapter Text
It's been a few days since he got here, and everything has passed by like a blur. After finding out the truth about the fairies and that he had been kidnapped to this island. Izuku tried to think of different ways to escape this place, but was distracted by the other kids. They had shown him around the island as a quick tour on foot and already told him to stay away from the mermaids here, as they could be a bit nasty.
“Today should be Friday,” Izuku mumbled, as he placed a stone down on the floor and counted the days. “Still no luck with finding an escape route.”
“Morning, Izuku. I brought your breakfast.” Ochaco smiled and handed him a plate of vegetables and eggs. She then sat down next to him and started eating her own food, which was exactly the same.
“Thank you.” He accepted the food and grabbed the fork to eat. It was quite impressive that the kids here learned how to plant vegetables and harvest them, since there was no store to get food from. But the fairies do bring in other foods from the mainland when they have the chance.
It was also pretty amazing that everyone here knew how to cook. Sure, he, too, had learned something from his mother. She was always so patient with him, her smile so kind and her… her… what colour were her eyes again?
Izuku stopped chewing the food as he suddenly realised he could not fully remember his mother. He could still remember her voice and that she has green hair like him, but most of his memories seemed blurry. Wait, that can’t be right.
Ochaco noticed Izuku had stopped eating and that he still had some food left on the plate. “Do you not like eggs?”
“W-what?” Izuku asked her as small tears appeared around his eyes.
“The food, you stopped eating.” She told him and knew a few bites weren't enough to keep him full until lunch.
“Oh, I… the food is good.” He replied and took a few more bites, and asked. “D-do… Do you remember your mum?”
“My mum?” Ochaco repeated and gave a puzzled expression.
“Don’t you remember her at all?” Izuku questioned her. This is worrying, if Ochaco could not remember her parents, then what if he loses his memory of his mother too?
“I remember her hugs, but other than that, it's pretty blank.” She replied. Her expression is sad, like she misses those warm, loving hugs.
“What about the others? Do they remember their parents?” Izuku asked, showing that he was curious and also afraid of the truth. Did no one here remember their parents? That scared him.
“I don’t think so. But we don't need parents here, so it's all good.” She put on a smile and took the empty plates. And added cheerfully. “Come on, we will be playing for a while.”
“What will we be playing?” He asked and followed her to the house, and helped clean the dishes and put them away.
“I’m not sure, we will see what the others want to play.” She said and added. “They will join us shortly.”
“Alright, but I would like to explore the island more rather than playing,” Izuku said, honestly. He looked at Ochaco, who seemed surprised.
“Oh, well, that makes sense. You are still new here.” She mumbled and understood the request to do something else.
“Yeah, there is so much to see, and I would like to try and find a way for us to escape from this island.” He explained and wondered if there were other ways to escape this place besides flying.
“We all have tried that… There is no way to get out of Neverland.” Ochaco told to him and sat down on the sofa. “Everyone tries to escape when they are new here, but… we can't. We are stuck here.”
“That can't be right, there must be a way.” Izuku insisted, his voice still filled with hope and determination. “Have you tried sailing out of here? Or use a glider to reach the second star?”
“Don't waste your time,” Shoto said as he stood by the door leading outside.
“What?” Izuku looked at him, confused.
“Forget the glider and a sailing boat, they will get you nowhere. Besides, the sea is crawling with Pirates.” The boy informed him. Shoto's voice was calm, and his stoic betrayed no emotion.
“Why are there Pirates here? I thought this island was safe, or at the very least isolated.” Izuku looked at the two kids with concern and for answers.
“Don’t be afraid, they aren't allowed to come here. The fairy king has made sure of that.” Ochaco tried to calm him down as she walked over to the door.
“Ok, but why are they here? I thought only children were kidnapped by fairies.” Izuku questioned and followed her and Shoto outside. It was strange that there were Pirates here. How did they get here, and why do they stay? Could it be that they, too, are stuck in Neverland?
“The sea brings in lost items to the island, like keys, watches and apparently people who are lost at sea. Logically, it shouldn’t be possible, but this island seems to be running on its own rules from time to time.” Tenya answered as he and Toga joined them outside.
“If they got here by the sea, surely there is a way back as they came, right?” Izuku insisted, his voice filled with hope that he could get home.
“Foolish. Don’t you think the Pirates haven’t already tried that, and yet they are still stuck here.” Shoto pointed out. He seemed a bit frustrated with the suggestion.
“B-but… How else are we going to get home if we don’t try to find a way?” Izuku asked quietly, but with enough strength for his voice to be heard by the others.
“We are not. Besides, who would want to get back to our old lives? Here we have no parents, we can do whatever we want, and it’s great! We can be ourselves.” Toga smiled joyfully. She then looked at the others and asked. “What game will we be playing today?”
“We have yet to decide that. Of course, we will vote for what it will be to keep things fair.” Tenya stated firmly and kept his sights on her.
Izuku watched them argue about what game and whether they were cheating. He began to silently take quiet steps away from them and slowly, but surely, started to move away from the house, heading out to explore the island.
Izuku has been on this island for a few days now, and it has become routine that each morning, after breakfast, the other kids meet up at the house to decide how to spend the day. Most times it would be games, other times it would be cleaning or even trying to create something new for the house, like new pillows and blankets.
Thinking over what Shoto and the others have just told him. Could it truly be true? Was there no way out of this island? It sounded like they had tried to escape themselves, but failed. Is that why they have given up and were waiting for him to do the same?
“I can’t let that happen,” Izuku whispered to himself as he wandered further down into the woods.
The green leaves slowly began to change from their average green colour to different varieties of yellow, orange and red as he kept walking and realised that he had entered the season of Autumn. Looking up, he could see fairies painting the leaves ember and the wind fairies at work with creating bursts of wind through the trees. It looked so beautiful, and he couldn’t help but admire it.
He wondered how his mum was doing. It had been maybe a week since he had been kidnapped here, and the fairy king had only come to visit him once to see how he adapted with the others and in his new home.
Izuku felt a strong gust of wind go through him that snapped him out of his thoughts, and saw an old fairy hovering close by him. He was dressed in yellow leaf clothing and had white short hair. And asked.
“Go home, kid, you're not supposed to be here.”
“Huh? But I thought I was welcomed everywhere as long as I didn’t disturb anyone.” Izuku replied, confused as to why this area was off limits.
“Not on Inspection days, you're not. Now run away,” the old fairy informed him. He then slowly turned to fly deeper into the forest.
“Oh, I didn’t know. Who is inspecting this place, and why would it be necessary?” Izuku asked and followed the fairy. He didn’t have anything better to do at the moment.
“Who else, the fairy king, is responsible for the inspection. Overbearing fairy he is, doesn’t know when to leave things alone,” the fairy grumbled, annoyed and continued. “He doesn’t think we have enough resources to keep fall steady until winter hits.”
“Wait, All for one is here! Where? I need to talk to him,” The green haired child insisted as he walked right behind him.
“He is too busy for you, kid. Go to your friends if you know what’s good for you.” The fairy warned him in a firm stare.
“No! I need to talk to him! He made me a promise!” Izuku replied stubbornly and ran past the fairy and went forward. He knew each of the seasons had a small town or station as he had visited in spring, and asked a lot of questions to the animal fairies when it came to their insects. It had almost driven them mad if Tenya hadn’t taken him away.
“Kid, stop! You have no idea what you are doing!” The old fairy's voice ran through the winds.
Izuku ignored the fairy and continued to run ahead. He wanted to hear the truth from All for one. Hoping that all this was just a cruel joke and that he could soon return to his mother.
Starting to see the signs of small roads and tools lying around, Izuku knew he was close and began to follow the tiny roads to the village in the fall. He could hear voices and see small fairy houses around him, which encouraged him, and he knew he was close.
Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice. Izuku stopped running, and ahead of him, he could see the large, golden shimmering wings of the fairy king inspecting the animals as well as the leaves and flowers during this season.
“Everything seems to be in order. However, you could use more food for the animals. Winter is soon ahead after all.” The fairy king commented to the minister of autumn, who nodded and gave some orders to his fairies to have it done.
“All for one!” Izuku yelled as he rushed forward, afraid that the fairy might fly away at any second. However, all the fairies there were watching him now.
“Kid, come back here!” The old fairy shouted as he saw he was too late and the child had found the king. He froze in place.
“Izuku, what brings you here?” The fairy king questioned, his voice calm, with a hint of curiosity. His eyes then shifted to the old fairy who was hovering behind the child.
“I have a question,” Izuku said honestly and ignored the other fairies staring at him.
“Of course, by all means, speak.” All for one, encouraged with a smile, showing his good mood.
“When can I return to my mother?” Izuku asked and looked at the fairy's cold red eyes.
“I’m afraid you can’t see your mother anytime soon.” All for one answered and saw the shock and saddened expression of the child.
“But, you promised to take me home!” Izuku reminded the fairy, who continued to smile at him as he replied.
“I kept my promise, you are home.”
Izuku couldn’t believe his ears as tears began to appear. He looked at the other fairies there, and they all avoided his gaze, looking away in sadness, too.
“Why are you doing this?” The child questioned, upset as reality started to set in. The other kids had told him he was stuck here forever, but he didn’t want to believe them and clung to hope instead, only to have it shattered.
“Doing what?” The fairy king asked innocently. He leaned his head to the right to get a better view of the crying boy.
“Why did you kidnap me and other kids? It isn’t right.” Izuku cried. He should have listened to the others, but did this mean everything Shoto said was true?
“You already know the answer. The other children must have informed you by now about the truth.” All for one, calm voice answered him as he smiled with possessiveness. He watched as the child took a few steps backwards and was devastated from hearing the truth.
The fairy king shifted his eyes to the old wind fairy. It was indeed sad that he couldn’t spend more time with the child. Perhaps, the other children could help the boy accept his new reality. And ordered. “Gran, take Izuku to his friends.”
“Yes, sir,” The old fairy huffed and flew over to the crying child. “Come on, kid.”
Izuku looked at the old fairy and nodded as he followed right behind him. They both disappeared into the forest once again, away from the other fairies and the fairy king.
“I tried to warn you. The fairy king is cruel, it’s best to avoid him altogether.” Gran stated dryly. He turned his head and looked behind him at the crying child who tried to wipe away his tears.
“I just want to see my mum again. Why can’t I escape this island?”
“The only way for you to escape Neverland is to fly home; there is no other way,” Gran explained to the child, who seemed to brighten up a bit to hear this.
“T-then can’t you take me home?” Izuku asked the fairy gently. How didn’t he think of that earlier? If All for one wouldn’t take him home, maybe another fairy could.
“Kid, I wish I could. It’s impossible to leave this island without the king knowing of it. Fairies who have tried to help children in the past had their wings broken as punishment and their talents taken from them.”
“I don’t want you to get in trouble or for that to happen to anyone,” Izuko said, disappointed. If he tried to escape, the fairy would get punished. It wasn’t worth it.
“But you know. There might be a way.” Gran whispered, enough for the child to hear. He flew over to Izuku’s shoulder. “If you want to return home. Find the winter fairies, they have rescued children in the past.”
“They have?!” Izuku looked astonished at the fairy. There was a way home!
“Shh! Don’t shout. If the king hears of this, you won’t return home.” Gran warned the child and added. “Listen carefully, enter the Winter Woods and do so quickly, don’t let the guards catch you and don’t enter by the border.”
“Why can’t I enter by the border?” Izuku asked, wondering if the place All for one showed him of Winter was the border Gran just mentioned.
“Use your head, kid! It’s guarded! If anyone crosses that border, it gets reported to the king,” the old wind fairy alerted. Wasn’t this obvious to the child?
“Oh… then how will I enter winter?” Izuku questioned and wondered if there was another way the fairy might know of.
“That’s easy, use your legs and jump to the other side where no one can spot you,” the fairy replied, hoping the child understood thus far.
“Okay, I can do that. But how do I find the winter fairies?” He wasn’t sure where to look, and winter was a very large area when he first saw it.
“How am I supposed to know? I haven’t crossed the border.” Gran grumbled in annoyance. Did the child think he had all the answers in the world or something?
“That part is up to you, but if I were to guess, you might want to go deep inside the winter woods to find them.”
“Can I go there now? I would like to go home as soon as possible.” Izuku whispered back at the fairy who flew in front of him and zipped his jacket.
“That will help to keep you warm over there, but I wouldn’t advise staying too long in winter. Besides, you will need to convince them first,” The fairy pointed out as he changed the path they were taking and made a turn.
“If I could meet a winter fairy and explain everything, I think I can convince some of them to take me home.” Izuku smiled, having calmed down now, and his hope was restored. “But won’t they get punished if All for one found out?”
“He can’t touch them. The winter fairies are the only fairies out of his reach, for good reason. No fairy can enter their season without breaking their wings, and no one can last in that cold for too long either.”
“Oh, so they are free from him,” Izuku said, amazed that this was the case.
“That is one way to think of it.” Grand agreed and continued to lead the way through the forest until they could see a stream of water going down, and on the other side, white snow and trees covered in white. “We have arrived.”
“Wow, it’s pretty,” Izuku said, amazed at the season. It has been so long since he last saw winter. The snow sparkled like a thousand diamonds in the light.
“I don’t see any guards, we are in the clear,” Gran informed as he scanned left to right for any fairies nearby.
“We aren’t at the border, why do we need to look for guards?” He questioned and felt about ready to jump to the other side.
“You have to understand, the king knows about everything that happens around this island. He has spies everywhere; you need to be careful,” the old fairy scolded. What a blessing it was to be so naive, but also dangerous.
“Sorry, I will try to keep that in mind,” the child apologised. This was important information after all.
“Good, if you find the winter fairies, look for Nana or Yagi and tell them I sent you,” Gran told him and was about to turn around, before quickly adding. “Good luck, kid.”
“Thank you,” Izuku smiled happily and waved goodbye to the fairy. It was the first time someone had helped him find a way to get home.
Taking a few breaths, Izuku readied himself and ran as fast as he could before jumping over the stream of water, entering winter. The cold wind hit his cheeks and blew his hair. The cold air stung in his lungs as he breathed in and took a few steps forward. It was so quiet, the soft sound of his feet crunching the snow was heard as he entered the woods and began his search for the winter fairies.
At the moment, he still had time before he needed to return home, as it was still early in the morning. But he wasn’t sure how long it would take him to find a fairy here. It might be an hour or two or perhaps the whole day.
“Better get going,” Izuku mumbled to himself as he looked left to right for a sign of a fairy nearby.
The snow covered everything ahead, and it was difficult to find a pathway that would usually lead him to them. So far, there weren’t any footprints or signs of them. But he would not let that stop him, and marched forward into the snowy forest.
“Brr, cold.” Izuku hugged himself to keep warm as he walked. The jacket helped to keep him warm, but he still wished he had warm gloves and a scarf with him.
He couldn’t help but wonder what winter fairies usually do, and how they prepare for winter. The snow covered everything, which begged the question, what did the winter fairies add to it?
Looking up into the sky, Izuku held out his hand and let small snowflakes fall into them, but sadly, the snowflakes melted quickly under his warm touch. At that moment, a large net shot over him out of nowhere.
“What?” Izuku questioned, confused. He lifted his hand and pulled up the net. It was easy to lift up. Suddenly, two fairies appeared and tried to hold the net down.
“You are our prisoner, don’t think of running,” The fairy stated.
“He is just a kid, second. We shouldn’t be rough with him,” The other blond fairy said to his friend.
“He may be a kid, but he could also be a spy,” The first fairy with the red hair pointed out. “Either way, you are coming with us.”
Izuku couldn’t help but stare at the two fairies. But he also recognised the blond fairy and smiled cheerfully as he pointed at the muscular blond fairy. “I know you! You are my fairy.”
The two fairies stared at him for a moment, not sure whether or not to believe him. It wouldn’t be the first time children have been set to try and trick them.
“Likely story,” The second said as he narrowed his eyes at the kid.
“But, it’s the truth! I did that test when I got here, and it showed him.” Izuku continued to point at the same fairy and added happily. “He is my winter fairy. I finally got to meet you.”
“Well?” Second asked as he looked at his friend.
“I think he is telling the truth. I can’t explain it, but he might be my kid,” The fairy confirmed. He looked at the green eyes of the child and felt there was a connection between them.
“See! I’m not lying,” the child replied casually.
“We will see about that. First could put him to the test, and then we will know,” the winter fairy said as he started to sprinkle pixie dust over the kid. “Don’t resist, it won’t end well.”
“I’m sorry for this, but we can’t be too careful nowadays,” His fairy apologised to him and flew right next to his friend.
Izuku felt himself lift off the ground and float. He didn’t resist and thought it might be best just to tag along with them. He wasn’t sure what was going on, but he could guess from what the fairy said before and how Gran had acted with him that things were not as happy as they seemed. Was the fairy king behind all this? But why would All for one do this?
“We will arrive shortly at our village. I’m eight. What is your name?” His winter fairy introduced himself kindly.
The child introduced himself eagerly. “I’m Izuku, it’s nice to meet you.”
“Hey! Don’t talk to our prisoner!” Second scolded from above as he flew them to their home.
“There is no harm in knowing his name,” The blond fairy protested.
The other fairy shifted his attention back to the village, which could be seen by now from above. Once they arrived at the village. He put down the kid and called out for the others to come.
Izuku began to try and take the net off himself, and eight helped him with that too. When freed from that, he watched as fairies flew from the woods and houses to meet him. Izuku was surprised by how few they were and began to count each fairy until he reached number eight. Why were there so few winter fairies? Where were the rest of them? The other season had more fairies.
“What is happening here?” A fairy with white hair and green eyes questioned. He wore a light green shirt with darker green paint and had a white leaf cape around him. The fairy walked over to them to see what had occurred.
“We found this child wandering around in our forest. I believe he is a spy sent here to get information,” Second spoke as he flew down and stood next to First.
“I’m not a spy! Gran sent me here to speak with Nana and Yagi.” Izuku told them the truth. When he spoke the name of the fairies, he noticed a shift in the atmosphere.
“If Gran sent him, then we can trust him.” Eight ensured the others.
“You are just agreeing with him, because he is your kid!” Second argued. It was foolish to trust someone they didn’t know, even if that child was the one who gave one of them life.
“He is eight’s child?” First asked, intrigued by the news.
“We don’t know, but the kids say he is.” Second pointed to Izuku, who looked at him with his green innocent eyes.
“You wish me to test him?” First questioned and saw second nod in an affirmative.
“Very well,” The fairy agreed and walked closer to the child. He then took out some pixie dust and placed it on the icy floor. He then touched it with his fingers as it turned from golden to white like water washing away the colours. And asked. “If you would give us a happy laughter.”
“Oh, right. I can do that.” Izuku thought of a happy memory with his mother and laughed.
The moment his happy laugh burst out from his lips, the pixie dust reacted and showed a baby Izuku take his first laugh and how that laughter hit the flowers in the park. Then that seed flower flew to Neverland and into the winter wood as the seed flower transformed when the pixie dust poured into it. It transformed into a fairy, that fairy being Yagi.
“So the child didn’t lie. He could still be a spy!” Second protested. Not trusting the kid and keeping his sights on him.
“You got your proof second. Now let’s hear what the child wants to say.” First watched as Izuku sat down and said.
“Thank you, but I thought only the king could do this test.”
First smiled, it wasn’t often a child took notice of this. “Usually, that is the case. But I have learned this magic from the information the warm fairies like Gran have given my fairies.”
“Oh, so anyone can do it?” Izuku looked at him curiously. This fairy was very slim, and yet, he couldn't help but feel the same commanding presence like the fairy king had, but much gentler.
“No, only royalty has the power to do so, like my brother and I.” The fairy replied and saw the surprised expression on the child's face as he put the puzzle pieces together.
However, the other winter fairies started to yell at their winter king. Scolding him for being so foolish to reveal himself in front of a child they didn’t know or trust yet.
“You are the king's brother! Then maybe you could help to get me home?” Izuku asked with desperate hope in his voice as he looked at the white haired fairy. “Gran said you have done it in the past!”
The fairies started to argue again, stating it was too dangerous to do such a thing again. It had always put them at risk of being captured by that mad fairy king, and who knew what he would do with them. The voices of concern hit Izuku’s heart as he saw that the winter fairies might not agree to help him.
“Please, I just want to get back to my mother.” Izuku cried as his tears fell from his round cheeks.
At that moment, the fairies stopped arguing. It broke their heart to see a child crying and a female fairy with black hair flew forward and looked at Yagi. They both seemed to nod before shifting their eyes to first.
“We volunteer to take him home.” The seventh announced, and Yagi stood next to her. “Don’t fear, my boy, we will return you to your mother.”
“Wait, is this wise? What if you both get captured?” Third asked worryingly, he had white spikey hair in a ponytail and was dressed in green.
“None of you wants to take him home. We will have to do, right, eight?” Seventh asked the blond fairy, who nodded. “Right, we can’t ignore his plea for help.”
“Seventh and eight are right. We never ignored a child's cry for help.” Yoishi agreed. It would be wrong if he started to ignore them now, would this make him more like his brother? He refused to be anything like that fairy.
“We can return you home shortly, perhaps tomorrow night.” First stated in deep thought on how to take the child home without alerting his twin brother.
“Are you mad? It’s too warm to fly over to the mainland!” Second and third both yelled at him.
“Not that warm. We are very close towards winter, and I believe it’s wisest to cross during the night when the temperature is at its coldest, crossing then wouldn’t bring any harm to our wings.” Yoishi informed them of his plan, and it wasn’t a bad one. But they would need to move quickly.
“So I can go home tomorrow?” Izuku asked, happy to get some help at last. But also overjoyed that he could finally return to his mother.
“Yes, we will take you tomorrow. But don’t tell the other children about your escape plan; they might betray you,” Yoishi advised with a sad expression. It broke his heart when the children betrayed each other because of his brother’s stupid rules. “It has happened in the past.”
“T-they can’t come?” Izuku’s voice filled with sadness. Thinking of the other kids with whom he lived, he knew Shoto was unhappy here, and Toga was more than happy to live at this place. It was strange to see how different it was for each person.
“But there are some who want to return home, too. Can’t you take them too?!”
“Look, kid. We can’t take every child. We don’t have enough pixie dust for that!” Third retort of the sad truth. “Yes, the pixie dust travelled to the winter woods, but it isn’t as much as Pixie Hollow has for its fairies.”
“We will take those who want to leave. But only the ones from your house,” First announced as he looked at Izuku. But every fairy stared at him as if he had lost his mind.
“But, we will need that pixie dust for the mainland to change it to winter!” Third argued once more, trying to bring some common sense.
“We can spare some dust for the children, and we will manage just fine with winter,” Yoichi told him and shifted his sight to the child again.
“Return to your house, don’t tell anyone anything. When it’s midnight tomorrow, wake those who wish to leave and lead them here.”
“All right, I will do that.” Izuku nodded, determined. But it was a bit sad he couldn’t tell anyone. “Thank you.”
Yoishi nodded with a warm smile and looked over at Nana and Yagi. “Take him to our border so he can return home.”
“Of course, we will be back shortly.” Nana smiled and helped lead the child back home with eight.

Chapter 3: Chapter 3 - The Escape
Chapter Text
The next day. Izuku joined the others for breakfast as they were having toast with freshly pressed orange juice. The fairies had managed to get some bread from the mainland and had given it to the children as ordered by their king.
After breakfast, the children decided to clean up around the house. It had started to look like a mess with all the dust gathering around and the toys lying around on the floor, blocking the open space. They all had voted for this, except for Toga, who didn’t seem too thrilled about cleaning, but did still join in with the others.
Izuku helped with dusting while he tried to keep yesterday's events a secret; thus far, he had managed to keep a straight face and be quiet. But as more time passed, he couldn't help but look outside at the sky, wishing night could arrive a little sooner. It was already difficult to keep his excitement down as he couldn’t wait to see his mother again.
After a few hours of cleaning the house, the children gathered again in the living room and lay down on the floor, exhausted. It had taken hard work, but the house was finally clean. They rested there for a while before getting up again.
“What should we do now?” Ochaco asked, bored as she hadn’t planned anything.
“How about we do what we want today? I want to spend my day with my fairy twice.” Toga suggested enthusiastically. She couldn’t wait to meet her fairy again. He was always so nice to be around, even though he spoke through animals most of the time.
“I see no harm in that. Just remember to be back before dark, alright?” Tenya demanded strictly. It made him happy to see when others followed the rules.
“Yeah, I know. You have been telling us this every evening.” Toga stated, irritated that she was forced to hear the same thing over and over again.
Izuku watched her run outside and disappear out of sight. He then shifted his gaze to the three remaining kids, who seemed to be thinking about what to do.
“I will be by the lake,” Shoto said before walking away.
“Well, I think I will just stay here and maybe harvest some vegetables for dinner.” Ochaco smiled delightedly as she went over to get her garden tools.
“Excellent, and I think I will visit Momo,” Tenya stated and looked at Izuku. “What will you do today?”
“I’m not sure, maybe I could join you if you don’t mind,” Izuku replied. He didn’t know what to do, but the last time he visited the tinker fairies, they were kind enough to let him join them in their work, and it was fun.
“I don't mind at all. But we are leaving right away.” Tenya began to walk the way to the tinker fairies village.
“Right, I’m coming.” Izuku hurried right beside him. He knew it would take them a few minutes to reach the tinkering village.
“So, Tenya. Do you miss your old life back home?”
“I see you’re still upset about yesterday's events. Very well, I will answer the question.” Tenya replied and thought deeply about it. What did he miss after being taken here?
“I don't remember my parents anymore, but I do miss the races I used to play with my older brother. I think it might have been his job.”
“Your brother is a real racer? That is so cool! What kind of races does he do?” Izuku asked excitedly. Looking at his friend with amazement and delight.
“I... I'm not certain myself. It's a blur.” The boy admits in disappointment. He frowned as he tried to search his memories, but came up empty-handed.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Maybe he was a runner? Or did he like car races?” Izuku asked and wondered if their memories were lost forever or if they would ever be able to restore them.
“My brother always enjoyed a good run in the city, but I don’t think that was his job. I remember a white car he used to race, I think that was his job.” Tenya stated. Remembering something about his brother made him smile and sad at the same time, because he couldn’t see him.
“That is amazing! It sounds like a fun job, but also a little dangerous.” Izuku smiled earnestly.
“Yes, I remember him crashing a few times as a beginner, but he seemed to be doing well afterwards,” The black haired boy with glasses smiled softly. He looked down at Izuku and asked. “I apologise, however, I realised that I have never asked if you have any siblings.”
“Oh, it’s okay. I am an only child. It’s just me and my mom.” Izuku replied and wasn’t sure if he should mention his dad, who was working in America. He never saw him, but his dad did send his mother money each month.
“I see, I now understand why it was so difficult for you to join us. I assume you aren’t used to other children being near you, right?” Tenya asked as they both continued their walk towards the tinker village, which would soon be in sight.
“You could say that, yes. I like to be more by myself.” Izuku agreed. He had tried to make friends, but not everyone had the same interests as him, which made it difficult to befriend the other children his age.
“I have noticed that. Yesterday, you missed lunch and returned just as we had finished dinner. I take it you spent that time wandering alone through the island.”
“I did. I was thinking of what Shoto said.” Izuku looked at Tenya, who had his sights focused on the road. “W-would, you like to get home if you could?”
“I think so. I can’t remember much, but I do miss my brother and parents. Talking about them has brought up some memories that I thought I had forgotten.” Tenya admitted and felt tears fall down his face. He raised his hand and quickly wiped those away.
Looking ahead, he could now spot the Tinker village and pointed at it. “We have arrived.”
“Yeah, let’s find your fairy. Maybe we can help her build something.” Izuku smiled and happily followed right behind him.
“Of course, she is always happy to have some assistance.” Tenya beamed delightedly. His fairy always knew how to brighten his day. Building new things for the fairies always helped to calm his mind and keep him focused on the task ahead.
It didn’t take long before Izuku and Tenya found Momo. She was working with some other fairies, making baskets for the other seasons, but mostly for fall, as they needed a few for fruits and berries for the animals on the mainland. She was delighted to see her child coming to help her again, and with a friend. The tinkers there wasted no time and put both children to work, and they both stayed at the tinkering village until it was time for dinner back at the house.
After dinner, the children prepared themselves for bed. Izuku was thankful that the fairies had brought a few toothbrushes and toothpaste for them to use. This showed that the king did take care of the children he kidnapped here. They were fed and looked after, but this island felt with each passing day more like a prison.
Izuku turned around in his bed as he listened to the ticking of the clock from the kitchen, it was loud enough to be heard upstairs. However, the upstairs had no door or wall blocking the sound, as there were just simple stairs leading to the attic where they slept.
He turned around once again and found it difficult to fall asleep. He should get some rest before trying to escape, but the excitement of seeing his mum had him too distracted to calm his mind enough to slumber. He opened his eyes and could see the other children fast asleep, each one sleeping peacefully.
“This will take forever.” Izuku thought to himself. It felt like time had slowed down, and every second felt like an hour passing by. Shifting his attention from the kids to the small round window in the attic, he could see the moon's light shine through. It was still dark outside.
Closing his eyes again, Izuku listened to the clock and waited and waited as his mind wandered. At some point, he had fallen asleep and didn’t wake up until he heard a light bell sound from the clock below, striking midnight. The bell sound was soft but also loud enough to wake him up, as he wasn’t fully asleep.
“Huh?” He asked himself and felt like he was forgetting something important. But what was he forgetting? His mind was still foggy from sleep, but as he was thinking back, he shot up, sitting on his bed. Remembering the escape plan Yoichi had told him about.
Getting quietly off the bed, Izuku looked at the other children sleeping. He knew Shoto and Tenya wanted to return home, but the girls seemed to prefer this island to their real home. There wasn’t much he could do about it, and Yoichi had told him to only wake those who wanted to leave. If he woke up the girls, he would risk the whole escape plan and be stuck here forever.
Taking slow, silent steps towards Shoto and Tenya’s bed, he quietly started to shake them awake on the shoulders. It didn’t take much to wake up both boys, and they both looked at him confused.
“What do you want?” Shoto asked as he yawned, showing that he was still tired.
“It's still night, go back to sleep.” Tenya scolded lightly as he was too tired to put any effort into his words.
Looking over at the girls, Izuku was relieved that they were still sound asleep. But shifted his attention back to the boys. This was it, he would have to tell them the truth. But what if they didn’t believe him? Shoto and Tenya both had told him to give up hope of finding a way out of Neverland.
“I think I saw something scary outside. I don’t know what it is. But would you two help me to tell the fairies?” He whispered to them.
“Leave it alone, it will be gone by morning,” Shoto grumbled and lay down on his bed again.
“I can’t, I think it’s a bear and a big one.” Izuku persisted as he took the blanket off Shoto, who in return, looked annoyed by his action.
“If it is a bear, we will need to report it. They are dangerous animals.” Tenya agreed, knowing the full risks of what could happen if they ignored this.
“Yeah, we need to go and report it.” Izuku was happy to see Tenya had gotten off the bed and shifted his attention to Shoto, who was slowly putting his feet on the ground.
“Fine, let's get this over with.” Shoto followed them both down to the kitchen as they changed clothing.
Izuku handed them both warm jackets and scarves and got funny looks in return from both boys. And stated innocently. “What? It’s cold outside.”
“Not that cold.” Shoto pointed out, but took the warm clothing and put it on.
“Come on, I think I saw it this way.” Izuku still whispered to them and pointed north.
“We don’t have to go there, our job is only to report the bear, not locate it.” Tenya pointed out as he rubbed his eyes tiredly.
“Yes, but wouldn’t it be best if we did locate it and told the fairies where the bear was to make it easier on them? Otherwise, they would need to look for it all night.” Izuku tried to reason with them and saw how both boys sighed.
“I suppose that would make it easier on them, but we-” Tenya got interrupted by Shoto.
“Let’s go.” The half white and red haired boy began to follow Izuku to the forest. He was too tired to care and just wanted to return back to his warm bed.
Izuku happily led them through autumn, the golden and ember leaves were dark under the night sky. It didn’t take long before they could see winter on the other side. But this was the spot Yagi and Nana had told him to use to enter winter with his friends. But first, he looked around to make sure no fairies were around. Luckily, he couldn’t spot any fairies.
“Right, we just need to jump to winter,” Izuku said as he turned to look at the boys who stared at him in disbelief.
“We can’t cross into winter, it’s forbidden.” Tenya strictly pointed out. There were no exceptions to the rules. They exist to be followed as they existed to protect the people.
“You never saw a bear, did you?” Shoto questioned, wondering what was really happening here. So far, they hadn’t found any footprints of the bear, and yet, they continued forward. It was shady.
“Well, no. I didn’t see a bear, but we need to cross into winter so the winter fairies can take us home. They have agreed to do it.” Izuku explained with excitement. His smile was large, and his eyes shone with life as he looked at his friends.
“Don’t be absurd, winter fairies are not to be trusted. They probably tricked you.”
“I believe him,” Shoto replied and saw the surprised expression of Tenya. “I have heard of winter fairies taking children home. But I didn’t think it would be possible, because they are hard to find.”
“I spoke to them and they are willing to take us home.” Izuku smiled and began to explain. “They told me to wake up those who wanted to leave, and sadly, we all know the girls like it here. So it will be just us.”
“Just us? What about the other kids?” Tenya questioned. There were more houses with children around this island. Would they be left behind?
“They can’t take everyone. They don’t have enough pixie dust for that,” Izuku explained with a sad expression and then looked over at Winter again. “But this is our opportunity, let’s take it.”
He then started to run and jumped over to winter as he was about to land, he fell and began rolling on the cold snow. He then turned around and saw Shoto following right after him, and jumped over too. Tenya stood in autumn, looking at them for a minute before making up his mind and jumping over to winter.
“Where are we headed from here?” Tenya asked and looked at Izuku, who pointed north. And said.
“This way, but we should hurry if we want to get back home.”
“Let’s hurry then.” Shoto urged as he, for the first time, had real hope of returning to his own family and siblings. He wished to see them again, it had been too long.
All three of them began to head out to the winter fairies village, where they knew the fairies were waiting for them. Each step they took motivated them more and more. The cold breath they took in was nothing compared to the will they had to return to their loved ones.
“There you are!” Nana flew over to the children. “We began to worry something had happened.”
“Sorry if we are late. But we are here now.” Izuku replied. He let Nana take over and lead them to the village through a shortcut.
“We had been waiting and began to fear the worst.” She told him and saw the two other boys looking at her in wonder. It must be their first time seeing a winter fairy, she smiled kindly back at them.
“We are fine, just excited to get home, right?” Izuku said and turned his head over his shoulder to look at his friends, who nodded in agreement.
“Indeed, I can’t wait to see my family. It’s been so long it’s hard to remember them.” Tenya stated and wondered if he could remember his old home. A few images of his old room and house came to mind the more he thought of it.
“Yes, it will be good to get back home at last.” Shoto agreed, he couldn’t wait to see his mother and siblings again.
“Soon every one of you will be home again.” She promised them. The shortcut she had chosen seemed to help. Now they could see the village ahead and the other fairies waiting for them. The children saw them and pushed forward as they rushed over to them. Eager to leave this island.
“About time you kids arrive. We don’t have all night to do this,” Second complained as he flew over to one of the children and began to sprinkle pixie dust.
“We are leaving right away?” Izuku asked. He saw his own fairy fly over him and pour some pixie dust over Izuku's head.
“Yes, we are.” Yagi nodded and reached out as he held Izuku's hand.
Nana gave some dust to Shoto as he, too, began to rise from the ground. She held his hand and began to follow her fellow fairies to the sky.
In the sky was also an owl flying, and on its back was a fairy riding it. It was Yoichi who greeted them. “Hello, children.”
“First, will you be joining us?” Nana asked him, wondering if he wanted to see the mainland early.
“Not this time, I will stand guard as you leave,” Yoichi replied, and from this height, he could see most of Pixie Hollow, and his sight was on the Pixie Three, where he knew his twin brother was.
“You don’t think he knows, do you?” Izuku asked and added. “No one saw us leave, I looked.”
“That isn’t always enough,” Yoichi told him and made a hand signal, and the rest of the fairies below followed it and flew up to the sky to be next to the children. “Go now before he shows up!”
“You don’t have to tell us twice.” Second snapped and flew with his kid to the sky, where the second star shone.
Nana and Yagi followed suit, as did the other winter fairies, third, fourth, fifth and 6th. Soon, they were out of winter’s cold atmosphere and very close to the second star that was just ahead. At that moment, spears were shot at them, and warm fairies appeared out of the clouds, holding weapons at the ready.
“An ambush!” Second growled as he tried to find an opening.
“Indeed, did you think I wouldn’t take notice when my children had gone missing?” The fairy king came out from a cloud and looked at the winter fairies with hatred. And added.
“Toga was very upset when she woke up in the middle of the night to find the boys gone.”
Izuku's eyes widened in shock when he heard this. Toga must have seen them leave and had reported it to the fairy king. But how? No one else was awake when they left the house, unless she was awake and just waited for them to leave. It was sad to think that Toga had done this to them, but he couldn’t blame her.
“We knew there was a risk of this being a trap,” Yagi replied as he looked at his fellow winter fairies and at Izuku, who had an expression of fear. He could tell the child didn’t wish to stay a prisoner on this island any longer.
“How foolish.” All for one said, unimpressed with his brother’s plan. Yoishi knew it was a trap and still tried to rescue the children. His brother had not changed over the years and was still naive enough to think he could help these children. “Take them down.”
The guard fairies flew into action when they heard their king’s command. In seconds, they started to fight with the winter fairies, throwing cold punches by using their frost abilities onto the guards. The warm fairies shivered at the cold touch, but didn’t give up fighting. A few of the winter fairies had managed to overthrow some of the guards and took their weapons, then began to aid their friends.
Suddenly, the sound of an alarm came from below them. The fairy king was forced to look below, where he saw his kingdom on fire. How did this happen? Summer, Spring and Autumn were covered in dark smokes of fires, and it would spread if he didn't do anything to prevent it. But as he looked below, he saw white owls, flying in a line back towards winter, and on one of them he spotted his brother riding the owl.
“Yoichi!!” All for one shouted angrily and flew below to chase after his brother, forgetting the children altogether.
“Come on, let’s leave, while he is distracted.” Yagi urged Second and Nana. This was their chance to fly to the second star before the fairy king changed his mind.
Flying as fast as they could, they managed to get past the fairy guard thanks to their friends helping them out. The second star was just ahead, and they all entered it, a tunnel of different bright colours shone on them.
Izuku was happy that it was all over now. He looked behind him and saw that Tenya and Second had separated from them and flew into a new tunnel leading them elsewhere.
“What happened to Tenya and Second! They are gone!” Izuku asked, alarmed. Didn’t they make it through? Or did they get lost?
“Don’t be alarmed, my boy. It appears that Tenya lives further away from the city. The star is giving him a shortcut to his home.” Yagi explained lightly to his child, who relaxed after hearing that explanation.
“Oh, I didn’t know,” Izuku mumbled. It was scary but also cool to know that the star knew where to take them. Looking ahead, he wondered if that meant Shoto lived nearby him or in the same city.
Exiting the star. They were met with a familiar city below them, and some windows shone some light as some people seemed to be awake at this hour. It was quiet, only a few cars drove below them as the rest of the people were inside their homes, sleeping.
“Right, we are now on a time crunch before our wings will give up,” Nana stated and looking down at Shoto and asking. “Where do you live, kid?”
“I’m not sure. I remember a house outside the city.” He answered and pointed to a familiar area. “I think, maybe over there.”
“Alright, let’s go then.” She smiled and flew away with the child to where he was pointing. Happy that she and Yagi have managed to get this far. “I will see you back home, Eighth.”
“Of course, safe travels.” He waved goodbye to her.
“What about you, my boy? Where do you live?” Yagi asked gently and waited for directions. He looked down at his child and saw how the child's eyes scanned the city.
“There! I can see my apartment from here.” Izuku pointed to his home. It was far away, but he could recognise it anywhere.
Yagi looked where his kid was pointing and flew down to the city as fast as he could. It was chilly outside, but he knew his wings wanted to be in a colder temperature, which meant his time here was limited. But it wasn't too warm for them to break, nor too cold to keep them in good health.
Soon, they reached an area with many apartment buildings, and Izuku pointed to his home. “That one! I live in that building.”
Yagi nodded and flew the child down to the entrance door. He then looked back up in the sky and didn’t see any other fairies that might have followed them. At least that was good news, it must mean Yoichi’s plan with the fire worked out well. The other fairies must be busy taking care of that fire in their seasons.
“Thank you for bringing me home.” Izuku thanked his fairy as his feet touched the ground. He couldn't be happier to have returned back home.
“It was my pleasure, my boy. Now head back home, your parents will be happy to see you again,” The blond fairy smiled brightly at the child in full cheer.
“Yeah! I missed my mum! But will I ever see you again?” He asked as he opened the door to his apartment building, holding it.
“Of course, I will visit you during winter in the evening. Does that sound good to you?” He asked the child, who nodded.
“Yes, it does! Thank you again.” Izuku waved goodbye and then rushed inside and upstairs to his floor.
In minutes, he reached the familiar door of his home and knocked loudly. He waited patiently outside until he saw it open, and on the other side stood his mother in her pyjamas. She seemed very exhausted by the dark bags under her eyes, but once she saw him standing there. Her expression lit up, like she couldn’t believe what she was seeing was real.
“Mom! I’m home!” He hugged her and began to cry in relief and joy to be reunited with his mother again. He felt the warm arms of his mother hugging him back, and looked up at his mother. She, too, was crying as they both fell to their knees.
“My baby!” Her tears ran uncontrollably down her cheeks as she held her son tightly in her arms.

Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Last Wish Of The Mirror
Chapter Text
It has been two weeks since Izuku returned from Neverland, and his mother has been overprotective after what has happened to him. He wasn't allowed to leave the apartment without her, and his mother followed him to school to make sure he was alright. It felt nice at first, but slowly it showed how worried his mother was to lose him again. It had scared her horribly.
He had explained to his mum that he was kidnapped by fairies, she didn't believe him at first. However, when he insisted it was true, she eventually gave in. But he could tell she did so not to hurt his feelings, and sadly, he didn't have any proof about fairies, except his words.
At school, the other children treated him as usual. Katsuki had asked what had happened to him, and Izuku didn't want to lie to his friend and told him the truth. But no one believed him. The children at school kept saying that fairies aren’t real, and he was made fun of instead.
Today was the weekend. Izuku was watching TV in the living room. A movie was airing at the moment, and it was one of the Star Wars movies when Anakin returned to the Jedi Temple as a Sith to kill the Jedi and take over. The scene shifted as bodies fell to the ground. Suddenly, the TV was turned off.
“I think that is enough TV.” Inko put down the remote on the table and held out her hand to her son. “How about we prepare ourselves for bed?”
“Sure, it's late.” Izuku agreed. Looking at the clock, it was 21:20, which was past his bedtime. He grabbed his mum's hand and was led to his bedroom to change into his pyjamas, after that he brushed his teeth.
“All done?” Inko asked with a gentle smile.
“Yeah, I’m ready to be tucked in.” He laughed happily. This was so much better than being on that magical island.
“Alright, hop to bed, my little rabbit.” His mother opened the blankets for Izuku, who lay down on his bed. She then gently put the blanket on him and kissed his cheek. “Sweet dreams, I will see you in the morning.”
“Good night, Mom.” Izuku yawned, closing his eyes and falling asleep.
The night was quiet, the wind outside hit his windows a few times, but other than that, it was a peaceful night. In the distance outside was a yellow light, flying from building to building. It stopped at Izuku’s window and looked at the sleeping child.
The fairy smiled and lifted the leaf bag that he was holding. He reached his hand inside and grabbed the handle, and pulled out a very stunning mirror in a size for a fairy. The mirror showed the fairy king's reflection on it as All for one smiled at the treasure he was holding.
The mirror of incanta. It was a rare relic created by old fairy magic, and he had found it on a wrecked pirateship. It had taken him years to find the mirror, and he had almost lost hope in the old rumour. It was said that the mirror had the power to grant three wishes, but only one remained. He had hoped to use it to heal his brother’s damaged wing after the unfortunate accident when he had tried to force him to live with him.
However, when Izuku escaped from Neverland, there was an emptiness in his heart. All for one hasn't spent much time with the child, but adored him. The child was special with all the questions and childish innocence. He had then decided it was about time the child returned home with him, permanently.
All for one opened his mouth and spoke his wish to the mirror, which glowed in response for a second before its light faded away. Now he looked through the window and at the child who began to glow the same magical light as the mirror. The wish had been granted.
Izuku felt a strange tingling feeling all over his body, which made it uncomfortable to sleep. He woke up tiredly and saw himself glow brightly in a golden colour. Panic started to run through his heart, beating rapidly. This wasn't normal! Why was he glowing? How was he glowing?
At that moment, he felt himself shrink, and his clothing also shrank with his body. Izuku didn't understand what was happening and got out of his bed to get his mother. But when he stepped onto the floor, he felt a strange pain in his back and fell. It felt like something wanted to escape from under the skin.
“Mom! Mom!” Izuku cried out in panic for help, his words were mixed with bell sounds, and the words were not fully understood. His room began to get larger and larger as he realised that he was shrinking more and more. He couldn't move, the pain was too much, but he could see the window, and what he saw scared him. There was a bright light from the pair of large golden wings of the fairy king, smiling at him.
The fairy had managed to open his window and eagerly flew over to his new fairy. The wish had worked, and soon the child would be with him forever. He also couldn't help but wonder what kind of talent the child would have, maybe a tinker or an animal talent.
“S-stay away from me!” Izuku yelled in fear and tried to crawl back to his bed.
“Your wings are coming in nicely.” All for one flew over to the child, who was still glowing in that ancient fairy magic.
“My what?” Izuku asked, confused. Humans didn't have wings, but again, humans didn't shrink or glow either.
Everything was fine until the fairy showed up, which meant the fairy king must have done something to him. Suddenly, he felt the shrinking stop and the glowing slowly fade away, and the pain was no more. He was now the half size of the fairy king. And demanded.
“What did you do?!”
“Take a look for yourself.” All for one handed him the mirror of Incanta, empty of its magic. “I think you look much better as a fairy. Your hair, especially.”
“Y-you are joking, right?” Izuku took the mirror and looked into it to see his own reflection, his hair had turned white, and he moved the mirror around in disbelief. That was when he spotted his fairy wings lying down on his back.
“T-his can’t be happening. I'm not a fairy!” The child yelled in disbelief at All for one, who moved closer. But wondered how the fairy had managed to achieve this, it should be impossible.
“Of course you are, but let's see those wings, shall we? It's not good to leave them unfolded for too long.” All for one flew behind the child so he could take a better look at them. The child's wings were like any other fairy wings, long with circular patterns.
“No, get away!” Izuku dropped the mirror and stood up. He began to move away from the fairy king. He didn't trust him. But he also started to feel very warm and used his arm to wipe away some of the sweat forming on his forehead. Why was it so hot?
“I’m trying to help you, Izuku. You won't be able to fly like that.” The fairy king told him and patiently flew to the child again in another attempt to straighten up the child's wings.
“No! You just want to kidnap me again!” Izuku managed to take a few steps towards the wall, but he felt so weak and warm that he had to lean on the cold stone wall for support. Why was he feeling like this? He was fine a few seconds ago.
“I understand that you are afraid, but there is nothing to be scared of. However, I do need to fix your wings and then take you home so you can get your talent.”
“I-I w-on't go… wit-h… yo-u.” Izuku struggled to speak and breathe as more sweat dropped from his head again, and before he knew it. He had fainted to the ground.
“Poor child, he must be so excited that he fainted.” All for one flew over to touch the child's wings, only to see them wrinkled.
“Strange, wings only wrinkle like that when they are about to break.”
As he spoke the words, the fairy king's eyes widened in shock and realisation. He instantly touched the child's forehead and felt the cold touch of the skin, but it was quickly replaced with hot warmth from his own hand. It couldn't be!
All for one cursed quietly under his breath as he picked up the child into his arms and flew straight to the kitchen. There, he used a wind talent to force open the freezer of the refrigerator. He then placed Izuku down on the cold, frozen ice on the machine's plastic ground and watched from a distance.
He eyed the child closely and, after waiting for a few seconds, he noticed the child lean into the cold, and his wings began to strengthen. This confirmed his suspicion. Izuku was a winter fairy. This complicated things, but luckily he had a solution.
Flying over to Izuku again, All for one took the opportunity to unfold the child's wings. Reaching out with his hands, the fairy king used some pixie dust and began to strengthen the wings, and they were beautiful under the cold frost.
“There, you will be able to fly in no time.” All for one smiled fondly and flew back to the kitchen table and took a napkin that he put down, and then flew back to pick up the child and place him onto it, along with some ice and hoped it would be enough to keep the child cold.
“This will do until we reach Pixie Hollow.” The fairy king looked pleased with his work and picked up the unconscious child into his arms once again before flying out of the apartment.
The night sky greeted him as he flew straight to the second star in the sky. Within minutes, he was back at Neverland and headed towards the pixie tree. The dust fairies at the tree began to stare at him as they watched their king carrying a new fairy. All for one ignored them and headed further up the tree and entered a fairy house close to his own home.
Entering the large fairy house, the cold air sent chills down his spine. All for one pushed past the cold and placed the child on the king-size bed and left him there. He then quickly exited the house as the cold was uncomfortable for him, his own wings preferred the warmer air.
The fairy house he had just left the child in was built for his twin brother. To keep his brother with him in a comfortable, cold temperature. All for one had gained some answers to how to achieve this through ancient fairy scrolls of old magic, in one he learned that if he gathered sapphire gems and used magic to enhance them, the stones could let out different temperatures.
Apparently, animal fairies used these ruby gemstones to make heaters to hatch abandoned eggs from ducks and birds.
So he went south to get the gems that he needed to create a cold temperature. He then placed them around the newly built house to keep it icy cold. It was a perfect plan to keep his twin brother safely with him, after all, they both were born from the same wishing star.
------------------------------
Izuku slowly began to wake up. He blinked a few times and wondered if all that had happened before was a nightmare. He felt much better now and wondered what his mother would make for breakfast.
Izuku saw the wooden walls covered in clay and the handmade furniture made of wood. He then looked down at the bed and sat up as he noticed the blanket was a green leaf. “This isn’t my room.”
He rushed up to his feet and walked over to the nearest window, and saw what he had feared. And said in dread. “Neverland, it wasn’t a dream.”
Walking away from the window, Izuku looked around the house, and it was quite spacious as the bedroom and kitchen were connected. Everything was covered in frost and snow on the corners of the room. But how come he didn’t feel cold? He quickly remembered what had happened during the night and lifted his hands to touch his back, and almost jumped at the strange feeling of his new wings.
Looking around the bedroom, he spotted a long mirror on the wall. Izuku rushed over to it and was surprised when he saw his own reflection. His hair was white, and behind his back were a pair of fairy wings fluttering in anxiety.
“No, no, no! This can’t be happening. I can’t be a fairy.” He said with a trembling voice. He couldn’t go back to his mother like this, let alone live like nothing had happened. His life as a human was gone. What was he supposed to do now?
Izuku sat down on the floor, looking at the mirror that showed his reflection. He couldn’t return home as a fairy. Did that mean he would have to live as a fairy?
“Am I a winter fairy?” Izuku questioned himself in wonder as he walked to the corner of the room and picked up some snow in his hand, and it didn’t feel cold at all. “I guess I am. But winter fairies are supposed to live in winter, so how come I am here?”
He wasn’t sure about that question and wondered how the house he is in could be so cold in a warmer area of Pixie Hollow. It wasn’t anything he had heard of before, but again, he was quite new to this place.
“Well, I might as well explore.” He walked over to a door he saw right ahead, and walking through it, he entered a small hallway and saw two doors. One led to the bathroom, and the other door led to an indoor garden, where some small flowers were frozen on the cold dirt.
“No one plants during winter,” Izuku mumbled and wondered why there was a garden to begin with. He walked back to the bedroom and kitchen and noticed some clothing was laid at the table for him, and there was a note left on it too. Picking up the note to read it.
“Good morning, Izuku. Sadly, I can’t be with you at the moment. I have prepared some clothing for you to wear and will return for lunch later.”
“Wait, new clothing?” Izuku looked at the fairy clothing and wondered if he should put it on. His pyjamas were comfortable, but not casual clothing. With a sigh, he picked up the fairy clothing and began to change into them while he put his pyjamas away in the wardrobe near the bed.
Izuku then walked over to the mirror and looked at himself. It was hard to recognise his new look. He didn’t look like his old self. The light green leaf shirt and pants suited him well, his shoes were also made from a harder leaf material, but were very comfortable. This was unexpected, but not unwelcome. But how did the fairy king know his size? Perhaps, it was best not to think about that.
“What am I supposed to do now?” He had already looked around this house and wondered if he should go outside. But was that wise? Gran had warned that winter fairies could lose their wings if they got too warm. He didn’t want to test that theory. It did sound rather painful.
With a sad sigh, Izuku walked over to his bed and lay down there on his stomach while looking at the ground. He could see the wood and the frost on each plank, which was cool and interesting.
“Surely, there must be something to do?” He questioned, and then he remembered that this bedroom and open kitchen had a few drawers and decided to explore them.
Getting up from the bed, he walked over to the drawers and began to search through them. So far, he had found some paper and pens lying there, and the kitchen had some cooking tools. There was also a bookshelf that had a few books, one was about gardening, and a few others were about Pixie Hollow's history. But there was also a book about cooking and baking.
“Maybe the history books will be interesting,” Izuku mumbled to himself and went to get a chair from the table to reach the book. Stepping on the chair, he grabbed the book and sat down to read it.
The book explained early life in Pixie Hollow and how hard life was then, when the pixie tree was still young and growing. Pixie dust was very limited back then. There were also dream fairies that would capture nightmares and turn them into pixie dust to help the pixie tree grow. Once the tree were old enough, the dream talent was gone.
“That’s fascinating, and the next chapter is about the royal fairies.” Izuku turned to the next chapter in excitement and read through the pages. The book showed a few queens who had ruled over the fairies, and each one of them looked so firm and cold in the book.
“Are you enjoying the book?” a familiar voice spoke.
Izuku moved his eyes away from the book and looked at the fairy before him. All for one, who was dressed in a warm winter coat, his wings were nowhere in sight. They might be hidden under the jacket, protected from the cold.
“I was,” Izuku replied and put the book back on the shelf, where he could reach it this time. He hadn’t even heard the fairy step inside or open the door.
“I’m happy you are enjoying yourself.” The fairy king smiled gently and put a basket down at the table. “I have brought lunch for us both to enjoy.”
Izuku watched from a distance and saw sandwiches and pieces of fruit were put down on the table. It looked like a normal lunch or snack. Then he saw the King take out some Blueberry muffins.
“I wasn't sure what you preferred, so I decided to bring something we both would like.” All for one said and walked over to the kitchen to take down two plates and place the food on them. He then sat down by the table and looked at the child.
Izuku wasn't sure what to do. He didn't trust the fairy king, and for all he knows, maybe there was something funny in the food. And told him.
“Thank you, but I’m not hungry at the moment.”
“Of course, you are. Who isn't hungry after waking up? Come, join me.” All for one invited, but Izuku didn't move from the bookshelf. He stayed firm on his spot.
“Change me back, I know you have the power to do it!” The child demanded. He didn't know how powerful the fairy king was until yesterday night, when he changed him into a fairy. But surely, All for one could reverse this.
“No fairy can become a human, it's impossible.” All for one informed and took a bite from the sandwiches on his plate, the bite was cold and unpleasant on his tongue. But the flavour of the food was the same.
“But you changed me into a fairy, so there must be a way!” Izuku insisted, stubbornly. His eyes moved to the food, and he couldn't deny that he wasn’t hungry. But that wasn't important at the moment.
“Yes, but not by my magic. I used an old relic to change you into a fairy. However, it's out of magic and has no use anymore.” The king answered and watched how the child eagerly listened.
“What do you mean?” Izuku questioned. He didn't understand. If a relic changed him, maybe another could undo what had happened to him. “Aren't there other relics that can fix this?”
“There are other relics, but not powerful enough to change you back. The mirror of Incanta was the most powerful of them all, it granted me its last wish. Now its magic is gone forever, lost to the ages of time.”
“No… you're lying.” Izuku felt shattered on the inside, all his hope gone after hearing this.
“I have no need to lie to you. Besides, I believe you might enjoy your new life as a fairy.” All for one said and got up from the chair he was sitting on. He then took a few steps forward before stopping in the center of the room. And added. “I also think it's time to find what your talent might be.”
“My talent?” Izuku asked and suddenly remembered that fairies had different talents that helped them change the seasons.
“I had to research for long hours about the winter fairies and the talents they have over in winter, as they are different from our own. I have sent out fairies to gather the necessary items for your ceremony.” All for one stated and guessed it wouldn’t hurt if he checked with the ministers how much they have gathered so far.
“They have different talents? It does make sense, winter is a harsher season.” Izuku muttered under his breath and suddenly heard a knock on the door.
“They have arrived.” All for one declared, delighted and went over to open the door.
On the other side, there were a few fairies who were clothed in warm coats, boots and gloves. They were holding small baskets and bowed before their king, along with the ministers of the other seasons.
“Your majesty. We have sent out fairies and gathered the times you required,” the minister of summer kept her head low.
“Excellent, bring them here.” All for one ordered, and the fairies walked forward and placed their basket on the ground before the king. Then they walked out of the house with shivers from the cold.
All for one opened the baskets and looked pleased at the items. He now had everything he needed to begin the ceremony. Standing straight, he lifted his hand, and a circle of mushrooms sprouted around the room, and Izuku watched in amazement.
“Let’s begin, shall we?” All for one looked at his ministers, who nodded.
“Is this the winter fairy you spoke of?” The minister of spring asked, his brown hair and blue, purple robe showed spring colours.
“There is no other winter fairy in here, is there?” The fairy king replied. At times, it felt like he was surrounded by idiots.
“Of course, not. My apologies.” Hyacinth couldn’t help but stare at the new winter fairy, it was strange that it was a child. Pixie Hollow never had fairy children before, maybe this is why the king was so interested in this child. He was something new.
Izuku watched as All for one picked a basket and took out a snowflake and placed it above the light brown mushroom, and it began to float above it. Next, there was a large piece of ice, then some snow on another, a beautiful pen and lastly an egg on the last mushroom.
“What are these things?” Izuku questioned and wondered if this was the ceremony the king spoke of.
“These items will help you find your talent. Go on, touch one.” All for one encouraged as he had finished placing everything in order.
Izuku wasn’t sure if he should, but the gazes of the ministers gave him smiles and they too pointed gently at the mushrooms. Well, maybe he could give it a try, it would be interesting to see what his talent was. He walked over to the mushrooms and decided to reach for the egg, but it fell on the mushroom, and its glow was gone.
Izuku instantly pulled back his hands, afraid he had done something wrong. “I’m sorry, I don’t understand what happened.”
“It’s alright, Izuku. That wasn’t your talent, try again,” The fairy king pointed to the remaining glowing items.
Looking at the large ice piece, Izuku reached out for it, only for the ice to fall to the mushroom. He didn’t give up there and tried to touch the snowflake next, but it too fell down. Only two talents remained, the snow and the pen. Izuku considered both items, but something about the pen intrigued him, he wasn’t sure what it was, only that it called to him.
He walked over to the pen and reached out, and managed to grab it. Suddenly, a bright light blinded him as it came from the pen, shining strongly and lit up the whole room. It lasted for a few seconds before it ended as Izuku blinked a few times to get his sight back, and looked down at the beautifully crafted pen he was holding.
“What does a pen mean?” He asked the adults in the room. This part was confusing. Was his talent to create pens?
“I have no idea, do you know?” the minister of summer asked her fellow fairies.
“Don’t ask me, I've never seen a talent like this before,” Hyacinth told her. While the minister of Autumn watched all this quietly.
“Silence! We have a scribe before us.” All for one explained to the others, who finally understood what it meant. Scribes are only winter fairies, and it made sense that none of the ministers knew of this talent.
Izuku brightened at that. This meant he could continue to document his findings as he used to do back home. He smiled fondly at the pen, this was a nice talent in his opinion.
“How wonderful, but how will he work in the library? He won’t survive in our warm climate,” the minister of Autumn said in concern.
“He won’t be working in the library. This is the only cold place he can stay in, besides winter.” The fairy king replied protectively. He couldn’t let the child leave this protective house, it was simply too dangerous for him outside.
He had expected that the child's talent would be something more basic, but never imagined it to be something as rare as being a scribe. A talent like this was important to keep Pixie Hollow's history intact, but there were also rumours that scribes would like to know everything that happens around them, as they were obsessed with knowledge.
“I’m sure we could come up with a solution, perhaps he could work here and send his work to the library via the scout fairies.” The minister of summer suggested. This way, the child could have a purpose and live happily, like every other fairy.
“I wouldn’t mind that.” Izuku smiled at them. He was open to the suggestion as it was a pretty good one. The idea of working as a scribe here excited him, he could learn so much more about fairies and how things truly worked here.
“No, you won’t have to worry about such things. After all, children aren’t meant to work. They are meant to play happily at home,” The fairy king said, while using his magic to dismiss the mushrooms from the room.
“It’s my choice, isn’t it? I want to do it! If I have talent for this, I want to use it.” Izuku argued. He looked over hopefully at the ministers who saw his plea for assistance.
“You won’t need this talent. You are far too young for it.” All for one persisted, as he flew over to the child and placed his hand on the child's forehead. “I will grant you another.”
“Huh?” Izuku didn’t understand what was happening.
The king had moved so swiftly that he hadn’t registered when the large hand was on his forehead. All of a sudden, he felt pixie dust from the king's hands begin to turn very hot, and pain followed as he felt like something from inside him was being forcefully taken away. He cried out in pain.
It lasted for seconds before a new wave of pain began. This new pain wasn’t as horrible, it still hurt and felt like something new was placed inside of him. The child flinched as the king removed his hand from his head. Izuku fell to the floor, exhausted.
“Y-your majesty, was that necessary?” The Minister of Autumn asked warily. He had witnessed the king take talents before from fairies who had broken the rules. But to take the talent of a new fairy child? He wasn’t sure what to think of that, other than it was wrong.
“It’s for his own good. I have changed his talent to fast flying.” The fairy king explained as he watched the child's fearful expression of him. And added.
“Not to worry, Izuku, I will return your talent once you have grown up some more. Then you can be a scribe. For now, you are simply too young for such hard work.”
“O-ok-ay,” Izuku replied while looking away. He sounded defeated and emotionally drained. He just felt his talent being taken from him and replaced with another. It felt horrible. He didn't want to argue with the king again, it might just end up badly. But how was he supposed to use fast flying when he didn't know how to use his wings yet? It wasn’t like he could go outside either.
“You will thank me for this once you are older, for now I will leave you to rest. But I will return later with dinner.” All for one told him as he exited the cold house with the ministers, who gave sorry expressions to the fairy child. But there wasn’t anything they could do to help him.

Note: Poor little Izuku.
I do feel bad for him, but there is more hope in the next chapter!
Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - Call For Help
Chapter Text
It’s been five days since he was turned into a fairy and got trapped in this fairy house. Five long days of not having much to do and just waiting for the king to come with his meals on each day that passed by.
At least he had managed to plead and whine to the fairy king to teach him how to use his wings indoors. All for one had given in to his plea and given him a small pouch of pixie dust, and then taught him how to fly. It wasn’t much different from when he was human, the only difference was that he was flying much faster than before. All for one explained that it was because of his fast flying talent that allowed him to reach higher speeds.
Izuku flew around the house, as it was spacious enough. However, he did crash into the walls a few times, which hurt. Flying with speed is a learning curve on its own, he supposed.
“Ouch,” Izuku got up to his feet after he had crashed onto the floor. His chest hurt from the impact. But carefully stretching his limbs after that small flying exercise helped a little with the pain. “I think that is enough for today.”
Izuku walked over to one of the drawers and grabbed some paper and a pen. Then he took these materials and walked over to the indoor garden and sat down on the soft moss couch there. The glass windows here gave more of a view over Pixie Hollow. He could see a little bit of each season, except winter, which was out of sight. That alone told him that he was looking south of the island.
“Let’s try this again.” Izuku held the paper and began to draw a sunflower, and as he did so, he tried to write some information about it and how fairies use the seeds for food, but also for medical treatment.
As he was writing, he got stuck mid-sentence and couldn’t put together the information in an orderly fashion, it was like his mind couldn’t focus and didn’t know where the right words to write were. This frustrated him. Was a fairy's talent that powerful? With his original talent gone, was it impossible for him to document his new findings?
This realisation made him put down the paper and pen. It didn’t matter how much he tried to write down anything new he learned when he got stuck, and the art blocks prevented him from continuing. Was there a chance the fairy king would return his talent to him? He wasn’t sure, but he hoped for it to be true.
Instead, he breathed in deeply to calm his mind and to distract himself by looking outside, he couldn’t help but long to go out there someday. Being cooped up indoors began to feel unbearable.
But below, he could see fairies flying around and tending to their work. He saw some tinkers coming by and giving needed tools to the animal fairies, such as pencils and new paint. There were also other fairies who came to get their newly crafted tools, too.
“What I wouldn’t give to be outside,” Izuku mumbled to himself. Then he saw a few fast flying fairies passing through the tree, and among them was a familiar old fairy.
“Gran! Maybe he can hear me?” Izuku rejoiced, his wings flared up at seeing that old grumbling fairy, who flew close enough to the Pixie Tree.
“Gran! Over here! Look over here!” He yelled as loudly as possible and knew that these glass windows weren’t thick enough to block out the sound. Some sound should reach the fairy outside. “Come on, Gran! I’m right here! Up here!”
Izuku watched in excitement when he saw the old fairy stop and look around to see who was calling out to him. This encouraged Izuku to yell louder as he could see Gran flying around, trying to figure out where the sound came from, until he got closer to the tree, and their eyes met.
“Gran! I am so happy to see you!” Izuku waved his hands happily at the fairy who flew closer and stopped before the glass, looking at him.
“Who are you, kid, and how do you know my name?” Gran questioned. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Before him was a fairy child and a winter fairy at that, by the frost and snow that was surrounding the child from the inside.
“Gran, it’s me, Izuku! We met in fall when I ran to see All for one,” the child explained, hoping the fairy would believe him.
“So you share the same name as the child I met. That doesn’t mean I know you.” Gran studied the child and noticed how desperate he sounded. He had never seen a fairy child before. Was this why the child was hidden here?
“It’s the truth! I found the winter fairies, and they helped to get me home, but All for one came after me again and turned me into a fairy!” Izuku explained as tears began to fall down his cheeks, only to freeze into ice as they fell down to the ground. “I need help, Gran! Please, can you help me?”
Gran stared at the child, at what he had just been told, which seemed to match what he had told the human child before he left the island. Nana had confirmed with him that the child was safely returned to his mother. Looking a little closer at the child, he did resemble Izuku. It couldn't be, could it?
But why would the fairy king go so far as to kidnap the child again? Better question, how did he manage to change the child into a fairy? Such feats were never heard of, impossible even.
“What is happening over here?” A male blond guard fairy flew over to him and demanded. “This area is forbidden, you have to leave at once.”
“I mean no harm. The child here asked me to gather a few flowers for him from the field.” Gran retorted and looked over at Izuku as he continued. “I asked him what kind of flowers he wanted me to gather.”
The guard eyed him like a hawk and turned to look at the child, and asked calmly. “Is this true?”
“Yes! It’s true.” Izuku replied as he quickly understood what Gran was doing. And added. “I don’t know what kind of flowers I want. Could you perhaps surprise me?”
“Sure, kid. I can do that.” Gran agreed and shifted his attention back to the guard. “Will that be a problem when I return to give him the flowers, lass?”
“My name is Hawks, not lass. Sure, you can give him the flowers.” The guard shrugged casually and added. “But I suggest you leave now, okay.”
“Yeah, yeah, you young fairies are always in such a rush. I will be on my way.” The old fairy grumbled before he left the tree and flew away.
Izuku couldn’t believe his luck, maybe Gran could help him escape this winter house he was stuck in.
“Kid, may I have your attention?” Hawks shifted his eyes to the child again as their gaze met. And warned. “I would not do that again if I were you. The king will not like it.”
“What? I don’t know what you are talking about.” Izuku played dumb before his guard, who laughed at the response.
“Sure, kid. You are lucky that I was stationed here, any other fairy guard would have reported him.”
“Reported him? But Gran didn’t do anything!” Izuku protested. Why would this fairy warn him of this when he was working for the king?
“That doesn’t matter. He flew too close to where you live, which is forbidden by the king’s orders.” Hawks explained to the child, and could tell that he didn’t know of this. He sighed and added.
“Next time you want visitors, just call me. It will save us both the trouble, okay?”
“O-okay, so are you guarding me all day?” Izuku asked curiously.
“Nah. Mirko is guarding you from dawn to lunchtime. That’s when her shifts end and mine begins from the afternoon to bedtime.” He smiled at the child and asked. “Since we will be seeing each other more, what is your name? ”
“It’s Izuku, and you said your name is Hawks, right?” the child asked and saw the fairy nod.
“Yepp. Now to more important business, it will be in your best interest if your visitor held a late hour schedule when visiting you.”
Izuku frowned at this. It wasn’t the first time he had been warned about something like this. Gran had warned him about the spies the fairy king had all over the island. This was no different.
“Why are you warning me of this? Aren’t you with the king?” Izuku questioned him and wondered why this fairy would go against his ruler when the punishment was so painful.
“What can I say? I like to keep things interesting.” Hawks shrugged and noticed the child doubting him. “The king may have employed me, but that doesn’t mean he has my loyalty.”
“Would you betray him if you could?” Izuku asked him. Perhaps, this fairy could be a trusted friend.
“Look at you already plotting a rebellion. It’s adorable, kid. But I wouldn’t speak of such things so lightly.” Hawks chuckled faintly as he waved farewell. “Anyhow, I need to return to my post. See ya!”
“Bye.” Izuku watched the other fairy fly away. Hawks didn't seem that bad to him, and he was willing to let some visitors come by. “Maybe he is a friend.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours later.
Gran was holding a basket with lots of flowers that he had spent a good time gathering around the fields of spring and summer. Currently, he was heading to the pixie tree where he had seen the child earlier today. He could see the tree from where he was flying as he got closer and closer to it.
Now, hovering around the area where he had spotted the house that was hidden by the leaves, he looked for an entrance. He couldn’t find a door from this side.
“Need some assistance?” Hawks flew out from his hiding place under a leaf and flew over to Gran, looking at the flowers the old fairy had gathered. It seems he kept his word.
“You could say that, where is the door, lass?” Gran asked as he couldn't find it himself.
“On the other side,” Hawks answered and showed the way. “Let me show you.”
Gran frowned at the fairy, it couldn't be this easy to get to talk to the child. Something must be up, or maybe the guard fairy wanted something in return for letting him in.
“What do you get out of this?”
“Hmh? What do you mean? I’m just doing my job.” Hawks smiled casually, and showed him the door that led inside the cold fairy house.
Gran looked at him suspiciously and eyed the door before him. Could it be an open trap? Perhaps, it is. And said, “Not doing a very good job.”
“Well, that's your opinion. Not much I can do about it.” Hawks replaced and knocked on the cold door. “Kid, you have a visitor. I will open the door now, alright?”
“Okay!” A response came from the inside.
“I also advise not stepping inside, unless you want to catch a cold.” The guard fairy suggested as he opened the door, and on the other side stood the fairy child, looking at them both.
“Gran, you came!” Izuku was delighted to see him, wings fluttering in excitement. He also noticed the basket filled with different flowers. “You got the flowers.”
“As promised." Grand nodded and shifted his attention to the guard fairy, who was watching them both. “You can leave any time now.”
“Can't do, it's my duty to guard him. Besides, don't you want a warning before the king arrives? With me gone, you will encounter his wrath.”
“He does have a point. I don't want you to get hurt.” Izuku said. His sad expression showed that he cared for the old fairy, seeing him injured would hurt his heart.
“It would also mean that he will hear our conversation, and for all we know he might be a spy.” The old timer pointed out in protest. He didn't trust this guard.
“Ouch, harsh words, old man. You have to have a bit of faith in me.” Hawks were hovering next to the yellow dressed fairy, who didn't say anything but gave him a grumpy stare.
“Alright, I get it. You aren't happy with this arrangement. But be thankful I’m letting you two meet without the king knowing of this.”
“It couldn’t hurt to give him a chance.” Izuku insisted and didn't want to see the two fairies argue or worse, fight each other.
“Fine, here are the flowers.” Gran placed the basket inside the entrance and flew back to the warm air.
“Thank you, I was also hoping to speak with you,” Izuku smiled warmly as he picked up the basket and took out each of the flowers inside, and placed them on the floor where he sat down. The flowers were Viola, Lobelia, Signet Marigold and Lily of the valley.
“Let me guess, you have questions.” Grand saw the child nod at that statement. And added. “Ask away.”
“Do you think I will ever be able to go to the winter woods?” Izuku asked while looking at Hawks, who listened in.
“Kid, that is a hard one to answer,” Gran said. He would like to take the child back to winter himself, but it was a long way there, and the child's wings might break during the journey if they became too warm.
“That depends on the king,” Hawks answered bluntly, and saw that both Gran and Izuku looked at him. And continued. “He is the only fairy who can take you there safely. But the real question is if he will allow it.”
Izuku looked saddened to hear this, and then became upset immediately, yelling in frustration as his face turned bright red.
“It’s not his decision to make, it’s mine! I don’t want to be trapped here anymore! I want to see the other winter fairies! It’s enough that he has stolen my talent! But he can’t take my freedom!”
Hawk and Gran stared in surprise at the outburst as the child let out some steam that had been building up.
“Wait, he took your talent?” Gran questioned and saw the child nod. How dare the king do such a thing? He could feel his own anger threatening to come loose.
“Y-yeah,” Izuku confirmed and felt his anger cooling down.
“For real?” Hawks asked, baffled.
“What? Are your ears clogged with wax? You heard the kid, he lost his talent to that tyrant!” the old fairy scowled. He needed to get this kid out of here, pronto.
“Why would the king do that? Hey, kid, what was your talent?” Hawks asked with great interest. It wasn’t unheard of for the king to take talents from fairies who broke the rules. But he hadn’t heard the king take talents from newly born fairies.
“My talent was scribe. It would have allowed me to work in the library to document and write books.” Izuku explained as he felt sad that he couldn’t do that, and continued. “But he took it away and gave me a fast flying talent instead. I am still not sure how to use it.”
“Scribe? Never heard of it.” The guard confessed. But from the explanation, it sounded like an important talent or at least a very easy going job to have.
“That’s because only winter fairies have this talent, but it’s rare. Not everyone is made to be a scribe, it takes a lot of willpower.” Gran explained to the other fairy. He had gained some of this information by speaking with Nana and Yagi, who explained more of their world to him.
“And how do you know of this?” Hawks asked. Winter fairy knowledge isn’t something every fairy knows, as there is barely any.
“What do you think? I’m old, I have seen and heard more things than you have in your entire life.” Gran grumbled. Youngsters, must they question everything?
“How old are we talking about?”
“Lass, do you want to get smacked in the head?” Gran threatened him, who asks an elderly person how old they are? He ignored him, then shifted his attention back to Izuku, who was still sitting on the floor, holding a flower.
“You said your current talent is fast flying, right?”
“It is, but I can’t use it properly. I keep crashing into the walls in here.” The child explained in disappointment. It upset him that he couldn’t get it right.
“I’m not surprised to hear that. Your space in there is too crowded. You need an open field to practice in.”
“We already established that the kid can’t leave this house. Don’t upset him further.” Hawks sighed, it would be foolish to get the child's hopes up for it only to be shattered in the long run. At that moment, he felt a light glow from a distance and spotted the king slowly heading their way.
“Alright, visiting hours are over.” Hawks moved forward to close the door of the house.
“What are you doing? We aren’t done yet.” The old fairy said with annoyance.
“We are now, the king is heading this way, and I would strongly recommend that you fly home. Like right now.” Hawks advised and saw the fairy glare at him unhappily, but turned around and flew away like a plane.
Hawks stood straight by the door as he waited for the king's arrival. It didn’t take long before the large fairy walked past him with his winter robe and entered the house. Only then did he sigh in relief.
“Hello, Izuku. I brought you some gifts.” The fairy king smiled as he entered the house, only to stop in his tracks as he stared at the flower on the floor that the child was picking up. He never gave such gifts to him. And questioned in a cold, firm tone. “Where did you get those?”
“Um… “ Izuku wasn’t sure what to say. He didn’t want Gran to get into trouble, but he couldn’t say he got them himself either. What to do?
“You can tell me, I’m just curious.”
“I-I… I just asked for flowers.” Izuku replied, hoping that it would be enough of an answer.
“Hawks!” the king shouted the name of the guard who opened the door to the house when he heard his name being called.
“Yes, Your Majesty. How may I serve?” He bowed his head and looked down at the floor.
“What is this?” The king demanded as he pointed to one of the many flowers.
“They are flowers, Your Majesty. The child requested some.” Hawks informed casually, his expression not betraying any emotion.
“Did you leave your post to retrieve these flowers?” all for one asked, his red eyes burning like a fire on the answer.
“Of course not, Your Majesty. I was here guarding this area.” The other replied.
“Then who brought the flowers?” All for one wanted answers. Who gave these flowers? No one was allowed to be near his precious child.
“A random fairy who passed by was willing to gather the flowers, at my request. No one knows about the winter fairy inside.” Hawks reported, while keeping his breathing calm.
“I see, don’t let this happen again. I would hate to see the next fairy lose their life.”
“Understood, Your Majesty. It won’t happen again.” The guard bowed his head and closed the door.
“Where was I? Oh, yes. I brought you gifts of my own. Much better than those simple flowers.” All for one smiled gently at the child, his eyes showing a hint of jealousy.
“What kinds of gifts?” Izuku asked wryly. He hadn’t expected the king to react so badly to a few flowers. It was also alarming that the fairy king was willing to kill other fairies to keep him a secret here. That is horrifying.
All for one smiled brightly at the question and took out two books from his bag and placed them onto the kitchen table.
“I took the time and wrote these books, which I believe you will enjoy.”
Izuku walked over to the table and looked down at the books. One was about fairy fashion, the other was about fairy talents and what each talent granted each fairy in more detail. These two books didn’t look that bad, the text covered in gold and the cover in hardwood, but carved beautifully.
“You made these?” Izuku asked as he picked up the book about talents and looked through the pages. Everything was very well placed and written, it looked like a professional had written this book.
“Anything for you. It took me a day or two, but your talent was most helpful to get the process going smoothly. My royal documents haven’t looked organised in years.” All for one was happy to see the child had taken an interest in his book.
Izuku shifted his attention from the book to the fairy king. He felt angry that the king had used his stolen talent to make these books, but didn’t dare bring up the subject. The king did say he would give him back his talent once he was older. Could he trust the king's word on that?
“Thank you,” Izuku said while forcing a small smile. It would be best to keep the king pleased rather than angry. He could still have had his talent if he hadn’t persisted to work in the library, if only he had kept quiet about it.
“You're quite welcome, Izuku. I have one last gift.” All for one walked over to the door and shouted for some fairies, and soon was given a large leaf bag.
“What is this?” The child asked curiously. The bag was large.
“You have mentioned how you missed sleeping on a soft pillow and blanket. So I put the tailoring fairies to work and had them create this for you.” All for one used some pixie dust, and the material inside the bag came floating out in the air. One fairy size pillow and blanket.
“Made the same way humans have theirs, I hope you like it.” The fairy king smiled and stepped on a few of the flowers as he walked over to the bed and commanded the pixie dust to put the pillow and blanket on the bed.
“Thank you, kindly. I appreciate the gift and will certainly sleep better tonight.” Izuku quickly picked up his flowers, even the ruined ones, and put them on his bookshelf, away from the king. Those flowers were Gran’s gift to him. He was wondering what the old fairy was doing now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gran flew back to fall, where he went straight home and searched around for his lost thing. It took a bit of time before he found the candle he had been looking for, and took it into his arms alongside a pair of fire stones. He then flew out and headed toward the closest edge of fall and winter and put the candle down, and began to light it up.
Next to the candle were a few large stones, and he began to make a stone snowman fairy. The largest stone at the bottom, the medium and lastly the tiny one. The Leafs were on the back, and then he used coal to draw a frowny face on it. It was finished.
He then sat down next to it and waited for his friends to arrive. He waited and waited as he slowly drifted to sleep.
“Gran, gran!” a faint voice yelled.
Suddenly, there was something cold that hit his face and sent cold chills down his body. Instantly, he had woken up and jumped to his feet. “Who is there?”
“Gran!” a voice from the other side called.
He moved his head to where it came and saw Yagi awkwardly apologising with a bow. “Sorry! But you were fast asleep.”
“You little brat! Is that any way to treat you, elderly!?” Gran grumbled in a huff. As he removed the snowball remains from his face and hair.
“You signalled us, what news do you have about the All for one?” Nana asked, her tone tainted with bitterness when the fairy king’s name left her mouth.
“Bad news, I’m afraid.” He said and watched them both stand by a tree close to the edge of winter. A smart move, as the tree provided a hiding spot.
“Tell us.” Nana frowned as she listened carefully.
“Where to begin. Remember that kid we rescued. The king has captured him again.” Gran got up to his feet and picked up a twig. And added. “I met him today. I don’t know how long he has been here. But it’s bad.”
“Who has been here?” Another fairy from above asked.
Gran looked up to see two scouts looking down at him, both were females. He then looked over to Winter and noticed that Nana, and Yagi were nowhere to be seen and smiled.
“Who? I don’t remember. It was someone, right, buddy?” Gran asked as he looked at the stone snowmans and said. “At least he agrees.”
“Who were you talking to? We heard voices,” the other female scout demanded and pointed her spear at him.
“Huh? What voices?” Gran asked and moved his hand onto the rock made snowman and moved it left to right. And heighten his voice to sound more like Nana. “Maybe she is hearing things.”
“Urg, let’s leave. We are wasting our time with this crazy fairy,” the same scout said to her co-worker, who nodded in agreement before they both flew away.
Nana waited for a bit before coming out from behind the tree. “I don’t sound like that!”
“I don’t know, the impression wasn’t too far off.” Yagi chuckled.
“Watch it or you’re next,” Nana warned him. So he found that amusing, well, she could do an impression of him also.
“Right, sorry.” Yagi apologised. He didn’t want to upset his mentor, and instead, he looked over at Gran. “You said Izuku was captured again. Where is he now?”
“At the pixie tree. That monster has transformed him into a fairy and has stolen his talent.”
Both winter fairies stared in shock at the news. It couldn’t be true, could it? How did that happen? Why would the fairy king do this?
“You are lying!” Yagi felt very upset and angry at the thought that his enemy had taken his child once again and inflicted a horrible fate on him.
“I wish I was. But that is why I came, we need to free the poor kid from his prison.” Gran urged and hoped that Nana and Yagi could help the child.
“It shouldn’t be possible. Humans can’t become fairies.” Nana argued, it didn’t make any sense.
“It doesn’t matter, we need to assist him,” Yagi said and wondered. “Gran, can’t you help him from your side?”
“Not as much as you two can. The kid is a winter fairy, and he is trapped inside this cold built house by the pixie tree. I could take him out, but he wouldn’t last long in the warm climate.”
“He is a winter fairy?” Yagi was astonished to hear that. It wasn’t often that fairies were born as winter fairies.
“That is problematic, but maybe first might have an idea how to get him out?” Nana asked thoughtfully as she looked at Yagi, who nodded and said. “He might. We need to tell him right away!”
“Thank you for the news, Gran.” Nana smiled at her old friend.
Gran waved his hand for a farewell when he quickly remembered. “Oh, one more thing! The guard, Hawks. I’m not certain, but he might be an ally. He was stationed at the house.”
“That is good news. We will inform First and the other.” Yagi gave a kind smile and waved goodbye before he and Nana flew back into the winter woods to inform their leader of the news.

Note: One more chapter and the story will be finished, yay.
We get to see Yoichi again.
Chapter 6: Chapter 6 - One More Rescue
Chapter Text
Nana and Yagi flew back to their village in search of Yoichi. He wasn't there, but fourth told them that he was looking through winter preparations in advance. So they waited until he returned. During that time, more of the other winter fairies gathered and waited with them to hear their news.
Once Yoichi finished his tasks, he headed back to the village. When Nana and Yagi spotted him, they took the opportunity to share the news they had learned from Gran. After hearing what had happened to Izuku, the child they had rescued with his friends, Yoichi's face turned red with anger towards his brother. His fairies waited patiently for him to calm down as he vented his frustration. Who would imprison a child? People just don't do that! And to go so far as to turn him into a fairy? How was that even possible? His brother definitely had a few screws loose in his head.
How in the world did his brother manage to create a place that was cold enough for a winter fairy to survive in Summer? What kind of relic did he use? How was that house built? How did no one notice it or question it? Could it be called a house? It was more of a prison if the kid couldn't leave. But why was it built in the first place?
A part of him didn't want to know the answer to that question as he shivered. But the question still stands: how was he supported to rescue Izuku in one piece? The distance alone would be challenging for them both, the warm air would make them so sweaty, dizzy and drained of energy until they both fainted.
The best time to travel would be at night when it was slightly colder, he would need to be quick about it. Perhaps, if he froze himself, he could last longer? A quick splash of water by the border and then waiting for it to freeze might buy him more time on the journey, it was worth a try. But the way back would be tricky.
“You're not planning to rescue him, are you?” Second questioned with a frown. He could already predict the action their leader would prefer to take.
“What if I am?” Yoichi answered and began to think about his plan as it started to take shape. Step one, fly by night when it's cold. Step two, fly with an owl, because they are the fastest and quietest animals when it comes to flight. Step three, grab the kid and some ice and fly back home.
“For one, it's at the pixie tree where it's crawling with guards! It's stupid to risk yourself for a child.” Second argued in protest. His Instinct screamed that it was a trap.
“I will never leave behind my fairies in my brother's hand. Right now, he has one of my own! Izuku doesn't belong with him, but with us, here in winter.” Yoichi replied firmly. He didn't know what his brother was doing to the child, but he prayed it wasn't anything horrible.
He needed to rescue the child, he was one of his own fairies now. He couldn't leave him behind. What kind of leader would that make him if he did?
“You are going to need us!” Second argued stubbornly. No leader went to war without his army, that was simply foolish.
“And attract my brother's attention?” Yoishi asked while looking at the other fairy, raising an eyebrow. “This needs to be a stealth mission, a quick in and out by one person.”
“But we can help you on this mission.” Nana and Yagi both looked hopeful at their leader's command to get permission to follow him.
“No, I will go alone. The rest of you continue as you are. Guard our home, Patrol the forest and prepare for winter.” Yoichi commanded all his fairies. It was too risky to cross into summer, his fairies knew this also. They had limited time on the other side.
“Are you sure of this?” Fourth asked, uncertain if this plan was wise or not.
“I am. We have a winter fairy trapped in summer by my brother. I need to free him.” Yoichi couldn't help but feel guilty for his brother's action against the child. The least he can do is free Izuku from his prison.
“How will you rescue him? The warmth of summer will knock you out before you even reach the tree.” Fourth pointed out the obvious reason. This was why not one from winter crossed.
“I got that covered, don't worry about it. As for transport, I'm taking Owlbert. He is fast and very stealthy when he wants to be.” Yoichi began to praise his owl. “He is strong, loyal, and I trust him.”
“No offence, but wouldn't a snow leopard be wiser? They are fast and very quiet animals. You hardly hear them sneak up on you.” Third suggested and looked at his six and asked. “You're the animal fairy, what do you think?”
“Both animals are good for the mission. But it's easy to spot large flying objects in the sky at night, especially when its feathers are white. The snow leopard has the same issue on the ground, but cats are good at hiding.”
“A vote then? Everyone, raise your hands for the owl?” Second suggested and watched as only three voted for the owl, and among them was Yoichi himself. “Alright, now for the snow leopard.”
The remaining fairies raised their hands for the cat. Yoichi groaned at the results, but he was outvoted. Hopefully, his owl wouldn't take it too personally.
“I will prepare the snow leopard,” Sixth said as he flew away to bring the animal.
“Fine, the cat will do. But I'm still going in alone.” Yoichi stated stubbornly. He saw the concerned expressions of his fairies and felt bad for leaving them. They truly cared for his well being, it felt nice to know that they would have his back. And added.
“If I don't return by dawn, know that the mission has failed and that I am a prisoner of my twin brother.”
“Then we fly over to rescue you both!” All might say boldly and heroically. He and the others nodded in agreement, they weren't leaving their leader behind.
“Hey, we shouldn’t rush! What good are we for a rescue mission if we fail or get captured ourselves? We will need a plan if that happens.” Fourth pointed out. It didn't hurt to be too careful.
“Hopefully, it won’t have to come to that. My plans usually work well.” Yoichi smiled as his last plan to start fires each season had worked wonders to distract his brother. It was sad to destroy part of the beautiful seasons, but so worth it! He had never seen his brother that angry at him before, it felt wonderful.
He could only imagine the horror and shock his twin would experience once the child was gone from his care. The pain was self deserved, his brother should have known this plan if this couldn't last, and it was time he remained his twin.
Speaking of this brother. Yoichi wondered what he was doing.
____________________________________________________________________________
All for one woke up at his desk after falling asleep working on some documents. For now, this paperwork can wait, as it wasn't anything urgent that needed to be done. Before working on this, he had spent some time with Izuku. It was adorable how much the child adored his company and the gifts.
It was sad to leave after he had put the kid to bed, he wished he could spend more time with him. Unfortunately, there weren't enough hours in the day to go around when he was king and everything needed his attention.
Getting up from his desk, All for one walked over to the window, where a small table with snacks and water was. At the moment, his mouth felt parched, like sandpaper. He reached out with his hand to grab a cup and pour some water to drink. The water tasted amazing, so fresh that it took away his thirst.
As he looked outside through the window, the night sky greeted him with shining stars above. It was a beautiful sight to behold.
He poured a second cup of water and turned around to clean his desk when he heard a hissing sound. Turning back, he looked through the window but saw nothing.
“It might have been my imagination. Perhaps, I am more tired than I realised.” The fairy king mused to himself as he continued to drink his water.
At that moment, he spotted someone with long white hair wearing light teal green leaf clothing. He caught a glance of the face of the fairy entering the house, where he had Izuku trapped.
All for one coughed up water and the small amount that had entered his lungs. And questioned. “Yoichi!?”
Was that really his brother? All for One pinched himself, feeling the pain as he did so. This confirmed that it wasn’t a dream; he had just seen his brother enter the house he had originally prepared for him.
“It must be my birthday.” He whispered in delight and unbelief.
All for one began to radiate a brilliant glow as he used his Royal magic to teleport himself in a flash of light to the guards' quarters. Once there, he saw the lounge empty and quickly flew over to the large room where the fairies slept.
With a loud voice from the music talent, he shouted. “Wake up!”
The sleeping fairies woke up suddenly, startled by their awakening. However, when they saw that it was the king, they all quickly flew out of their beds, lined up, and bowed their heads in respect.
“Your Majesty, how can we be of service?” The commander fairy asked as he also kneeled before the king, looking at the floor.
“I have an assignment for the guard. Forget changing clothes, grab your weapons and follow me.” All for one ordered. There was no time to waste; he knew his brother worked swiftly and could be gone before the guard reached the house. This meant that his brother had come with transport: an animal.
“Send your best and bravest fairies to drive away a winter animal that is hiding nearby. I want it gone! ”
“It will be done right away, your Majesty,” The commander with his guards grabbed their weapons and flew out to carry out the king's orders. They split into two groups as the first one flew away to handle the animal, and the other saluted before their king.
All for One smiled at his fairies. They seemed eager to serve him, perhaps out of fear for their own lives, though it was more likely the former motivation. Regardless, he couldn’t argue with the results; fear, after all, often led to loyal subjects.
“The rest of you follow me! We have a winter fairy to capture!” All for one ordered excitedly. He could feel the joy melt the ice in his cold soul. It was finally happening! His brother was about to be captured and live with him and Izuku forever!
“Right away, your Majesty!” The remaining guard fairies flew right behind their king, following him until they reached the pixie tree, where they stopped in front of a fairy house that was built into the tree.
“Surround the house, and bring me Hawks.” All for one ordered with authority. He watched as the guard fairies flew around the house, guarding the door.
Hawks flew to the king, as he was on the other side when his fellow guard fairies informed him of the new orders.
“Your majesty, you called for me?” He knelt on the tree branch before the king. He had a feeling he knew what the king wanted.
“I did, you may not be aware of this. My brother entered the house while you were guarding another part of the house. Usually, I would have you punished for such sloppy work.” The fairy king informed with a smirk. He observed Hawks and didn’t see any emotion change in the guard's expression, although a drop of sweat did fall from his forehead.
“I am in a good mood today, so I will spare your life. You are fortunate that my brother has arrived, and now he can finally live with me.”
“Your Majesty, you are too kind,” Hawks replied. He knew he was in a tight spot, but was thankful that the king didn’t suspect him of being a traitor.
“Yes, I am. Now return to your fellow guards.”
At that moment, the door of the house swung open. Yoichi and Izuku took just a few steps forward when the other guard fairies aimed their weapons at them. Both winter fairies were covered in frost, with ice clinging to their bodies. They stared at the situation in which they found themselves in.
Izuku hid behind Yoichi and whispered to him. “What will we do now?”
“Wait for my signal.” The winter fairy replied in a quiet voice that was only loud enough for the child to hear.
“Little brother! How exciting it is to see you outside winter. I have truly missed you.” The fairy king smiled warmly at Yoichi, who stared daggers at him.
“The feeling isn't mutual. Let us go!” Yoichi demanded and looked around for a way for him and the child to escape. But he couldn't help and wondered where that feline had gone. Wasn't that snow leopard supposed to wait for him? Such a shame. Owlbert would have never abandoned him like this.
“Let you go after carefully planning this trap, which was specially prepared for you? Oh, little brother, you wound me.” All for one monologued. He made a hand command for his fairies to move in to capture them. “You're not leaving me again.”
Yoichi raised his hands and concentrated on the royal light within him, summoning a brilliant light that blinded everyone who looked at it. This would give them a few minutes to escape.
“Jump!” Yoichi yelled as he grabbed Izuku's arm and dragged the child with him as he jumped off the pixie tree branch.
As Yoichi fell, he hugged the child and prayed that they would land safely below. He could hear his brother yelling his name from above.
“Yoichi, you fool! You can’t fly!” All For One shouted in concern as his heart was beating rapidly. He chased after them below, but was suddenly pushed aside by a cold wind that left snowflakes swirling in its wake. How strange, it was snowing in summer! Such an occurrence was unheard of.
He watched his brother and adopted son, noticed little Izuku flying at incredible speed, creating a blizzard in his wake. Izuku was also holding onto his brother, whisking him away through the air. Was his son actually kidnapping his little brother? While children certainly learn from their parents, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride for his child and that he had chosen wisely.
There was no time to praise his son right now. He needed to capture both of them before his brother hid Izuku away somewhere in the winterwoods. All For One looked up at his guards, the fairies, who were blinking their eyes as they regained their sight.
“What are you waiting for?! Capture them both immediately!” The fairy king yelled at them. Couldn't the guard manage to do anything correctly?
“At once, Your Majesty,” the guard fairies replied as they began to chase the two winter fairies who were heading towards the fall season.
All for one watched as his brother and son became increasingly distant in his sight, and he knew for a fact his fairies couldn’t catch up to them, not at the speed they were flying at. He might have to stop them himself.
“If you want something done right, do it yourself,” He muttered under his breath as he flew up into the sky, where he could spot Izuku's light shining through the woods. He then used his own fast flying talent and flew at a greater speed to reach his target. As he got closer, he felt the cold and snowflakes brushing against his skin, which began to sting at such speed.
It was fascinating how Izuku's new talent had developed into a blizzard talent. He had never imagined that a simple ability to fly quickly could transform into something so powerful. Should he take this talent away and offer him another one to experiment with? Or perhaps, the blizzard talent might cause him to freeze since he is a warm-season fairy.
“There you both are.” All for one saw both his brother and child in sight, but still he couldn’t reach them. Instead, he lifted one hand, which began to glow green as vines started to grow from the trees, forming a large net in the shape of a wall.
He watched with satisfaction as Izuku tried to slow down to make a turn, but it was already too late; the child and Yoichi crashed into the net vine. All For One used his garden talent once more, commanding the vine to cocoon both winter fairies, rendering them unable to escape.
“I have finally caught you, brother,” The fairy king declared, a triumphant smile spreading across his face. After searching for years, he felt an overwhelming sense of relief and happiness. Finally, his brother was safely within his grasp. He could protect him from the dangers that lurked beyond their realm.
“No! No! Release us at once!” Yoichi struggled against the vines encasing him. No matter how many he tore apart, new ones quickly replaced the old.
“No, you have no power here, little brother, and my word is final.” All For One smiled fondly at his brother, then his eyes shifted to Izuku, who tried to look away from the king's gaze. “And my beloved son, did you have fun playing with your uncle?”
Izuku opened his mouth to speak, but quickly closed it. He didn’t know what to say, this wasn’t a game, but an escape. If he told the king this, he might become furious.
“Look at you, you are so happy to spend time with family that you are lost for words.”
“What?!” Yoichi snapped at his brother in disbelief. “You have become insane through the years, haven’t you?”
“What makes you say that?” The fairy king questioned as he flew closer to his brother, who shouted angrily at him.
“I don’t know, maybe it’s because you have a history of kidnapping innocent children, stealing the talents of fairies, and breaking their delicate wings. Izuku, for example, was turned into a fairy by your actions, and you took away his unique talent in the process! How can you possibly deny that such behaviour is not only cruel but utterly insane?!”
“Hmm, some of my subjects deserve punishment. I take their talents and break the wings of those fairies who have earned it. However, my son is much happier now as a fairy. Isn’t that right, Izuku?” The fairy king asked with a smile, his eyes sparkled with pride as he looked at his son.
“I-I… I do miss being human,” Izuku admitted. He missed being normal, enjoying nature, and spending time with his mother; he missed her dearly. Being a fairy wasn’t awful, but it felt strange to him.
“Such a silly thing to miss, I’m sure you will grow out of this.” The fairy king said and turned around as he saw his guard arriving at last.
“Your Majesty, we apologise for being late.” The guard fairies bowed, but they were also out of breath. Breathing in the air heavily.
“Bring my winter fairies back to my winter house at the pixie tree, and all is forgiven.” All for one told them, and the fairies quickly got to work after hearing this.
“No! Brother, let us go! We don’t belong in Summer!” Yoichi yelled as he continued to struggle with his vine cocoon that refused to break.
Izuku didn’t struggle as he watched Hawks cut around his cocoon. The guard fairy gave him a sad smile. He didn’t dare speak with the child here, not while the king was close by.
“But you do, you both belong with me. Come along, it’s late and we all need our beauty sleep.” The fairy king said as he watched the guard cut around the cocoon and begin to carry the winter fairies back to the pixie tree.
The flight back felt incredibly long, and the warmth was starting to affect both fairies as they began to sweat. Luckily, they soon arrived at the house, and both fairies were placed inside.
“Home at last, you both must be so excited.” All for one watched as his guard fairies flew back out to the warm air. And waited for his following command.
"No, we are not! You can’t keep us trapped!" Yoichi yelled angrily at his brother. How had his plan gone so wrong? Everything had been perfectly arranged: there were fewer guards at night, and his brother was supposed to be asleep!
“Of course, I can. I am the king,” he declared, his voice steady and confident. With a purposeful glance at his guard, he continued, “Keep a close eye on them and increase the guard at night. I want no surprises.”
The guard nodded, understanding the weight of the king's command. “Yes, your Majesty. It will be done.”
“I wish I could stay and chat, but it's quite late. I wish you both a good night.” All for one yawned and was ready to head back to bed.
“Wait, are you gonna leave us trapped in these cocoons?” Izuku asked, his voice filled with anxiety. He shuddered at the thought of sleeping like this.
“That depends, will you both behave?” The fairy king asked gently. Watching them like a cat does a mouse.
“Yes!” Izuku said, while Yoichi responded. “No!”
“Hmmm, it seems only my son will sleep comfortably tonight,” All for One said with a smile, noticing his child's eagerness to be freed from the cocoon made of vines. Raising his hand and using his garden talent, the vines began to loosen and fall to the ground, releasing the boy. “What a shame, little brother. You won't be well rested in that position.”
“And whose fault is that?!” Yoichi snapped at his brother.
“Yours, if you had come with me willingly. We could have avoided this.” The fairy king said and began to close the door to the house. “I will see you both in the morning. Good night.”
Izuku watched as the door closed and then went over to Yoichi and began to pull at the vines, trying to snap them. But they were quite stubborn.
“I need something sharp,” Izuku said and looked around the house he had been living in for about a week.
“I’m sorry for this. I thought we would be safely in winter by now.” Yoichi apologised and saw the child fly over to a shelf, where he took out a wooden box. Inside were a few threads, nails, some clothes, and a pair of scissors.
“It’s okay. It wasn't your fault that the plan failed.” Izuku said and flew back to the Cocoon fairy and started to cut through the vine that fell to the ground.
“W-why is the fairy king… so protective of us?”
“He wasn't always like that,” Yoichi explained. He could still remember the times when his brother would act normally with him. It was a good time, but it didn't last.
“How? What changed?” Izuku asked, curious to know more and understand the king better.
“Well, what changed was when he found out I was his brother. The winter fairies had told me I was a royal fairy, meant to rule. But my light was dim. I was defective.” Yoichi gave the child a sad smile. Finally free from the vines, he got up to his feet and stretched a bit.
“What do you mean? I saw you do magic the day we met and today.” Izuku pointed out, this fairy before him didn't look defective to him. He also put the scissors back where he took them.
“You have to understand, when a child makes a wish on a falling star, this star transforms into a royal fairy. My brother and I are twins because we came from the same star, but I didn't shine as bright as he did.”
“What does that matter? You helped me once and tried again today. You are better than him.” Izuku told him the truth. “I think you would have been a better ruler, too.”
Yoichi stared at the boy. It was a nice change to hear that. And said,
“There are things I can't do, like teleporting, and my magic is too weak for anything useful.”
“Wait, teleporting? Are you sure you can’t do that?” Izuku asked excitedly as he yawned. That sounded incredible!
“Yes, I'm sure. I have tried.” Yoichi said with a sad smile, he would have loved it if he could teleport. It would have been so much easier to hide from his brother.
“Come on, let's sleep.”
“I don't want to sleep, I want to hear more about you.” Izuku yawned again and rubbed his eyes tiredly.
“I will tell you more tomorrow,” Yoichi promised him and took the child's hand and led him to the large bed, which was big enough for them both to rest on.
“What about our failed escape? Will we ever be free from here?” Izuku asked as he climbed onto the bed and put the blanket on himself.
“We will, my fairies will rescue us.” He had faith in his fairies and knew that where he had failed, they would succeed.

Chapter 7: Chapter 7 - Freedom
Chapter Text
The next morning, Izuku woke up in bed and heard someone talking. Sitting up and rubbing his eyes tiredly, he saw Yoichi sitting by a chair reading a book.
“Good morning.” Izuku greeted sleepily.
“Oh, you are awake. Did you sleep well?” Yoichi saw Izuku nod.
“That’s good, I tried to find ingredients to make breakfast, but there is nothing in the kitchen cabinets. I imagine my brother will soon arrive with breakfast, won’t he?”
“Yes, he usually comes by and brings me breakfast,” Izuku confirmed. He then got out of bed and decided to change his clothes. He couldn’t wander around in pyjamas all day, that would just be wrong. It was strange that the kitchen didn’t have any ingredients for cooking. He had never thought much of it until now.
“I’ve been meticulously searching for another escape route, but it seems the door is the only way out. In my exploration, I discovered sapphires glimmering all around the house, each one radiating an enchanting aura that emits a chilling atmosphere,” Yoichi elaborated, his eyes reflecting the mysterious beauty of the gems.
His thoughts quickly shifted back to the realisation that his brother must have created these gems as a way to keep him trapped here. This house was a perfect prison for a winter fairy; going outside was impossible unless one wanted to faint from the heat and also break their wings.
“I have seen those gems too, and it is true that they keep this house cold enough for us to live here.” Izuku agreed. He had asked the fairy king about it a few days back when he had found one of the gems. The king had told him those gems were essential for his survival here. So, he left the gems be.
“What would my dear brother do if those sparkling gems were suddenly shattered into a thousand pieces?” Yoichi asked with a sly grin, his eyes glinting with mischief. He cast a glance at the child beside him, whose wide eyes reflected a mix of shock and disbelief at the thought.
“What? Isn’t that a bad idea?” Izuku asked, concerned. “We would suffer from the heat, and you know…”
“Faint and become entirely useless? That’s about right,” Yoichi nodded in agreement, a bitter smile creeping across his face. “But if it means my brother gets to suffer, then every bit of it is worth it! In the chaos, we might just find a way to escape.”
Izuku's heart raced as he watched Yoichi grasp the chair, his intentions clear as he prepared to smash one of the colourful games glued to the wall.
"Wait! Think this through!" Izuku pleaded, desperation creeping into his voice. He flew over to the winter fairy and tried to hold onto the chair back. "Where would we possibly go in summer?"
“That’s the point! My brother will have no choice but to return us to winter!” Yoichi stated. It made sense to him to destroy the gems now. He and Izuku would be free. Problem solved.
“I still think it's a bad idea! And how long would we last before the king found out what had happened?” The child exclaimed, eyes wide with concern.
“All the more reason to destroy the gems now, before he has a chance to tell us what to do!” Yoichi exclaimed, his voice filled with urgency.
He gripped the arm of the chair tightly, feeling the wood dig into his palms as he summoned every ounce of strength to wrest it back. He was determined to shatter the sapphire gems that glimmered on the walls.
At that moment, the heavy door creaked open, releasing a wave of warm air that came inside the house. A cheerful voice greeted them.
“Good morning, Yoichi and Izuku. I’ve brought a feast for breakfast for us all to enjoy together!”
All for One walked happily to the table and set down his two large baskets full of food. However, when he glanced over at his brother and son, he noticed an intriguing scene. It didn't take him long enough to understand what was happening.
“Ah, you have discovered the hidden gems. I strongly recommend leaving them alone, unless you prefer a swift journey to a dim underground dwelling instead. This alternative is devoid of windows, cloaked in perpetual darkness, and has a less comfortable and cramped living space than this charming winter house.”
“Brother…” Yoichi said, his voice tinged with frustration. He could almost feel the familiar weight of disappointment settling in his chest.
Of course, his brother had devised a backup plan; it was typical of him. Nothing was ever straightforward when it came to his encounters; there was always a hidden layer, a twist waiting just out of sight.
“Please, lower the chair.” Izuku fixed his gaze on him, his large green eyes shimmering with a mix of concern and silently urging the adult to find some sense of reason within.
“Fine, but this isn’t over,” Yoichi declared, his voice laced with defiance as he slammed the chair down onto the wooden floor with a thud that echoed through the room. He fixed his gaze on his brother, his eyes burning with a mixture of resentment and determination, the air between them thick with unresolved tension.
“I am glad you are doing well, Yoichi.” All for one beamed, his expression warm as he carefully put the many foods from the basket onto the table. He had brought with him everything his brother enjoyed eating from the warm seasons, the sweets, sandwiches, drinks and anything else he remembered his twin enjoyed.
“However, you do look a bit thin. I can only imagine how the biting chill of winter has made it difficult for you to find sufficient nourishment. But fret not, for as your devoted brother, I have come bearing a generous supply of food, enough to satisfy your hunger and warm your spirit.”
Yoichi glared at his brother, disbelief washing over him like a cold wave. A surge of anger bubbled up within him; he longed to unleash his frustration with a punch, to mar that infuriatingly perfect face and shatter the illusion of his twin as the flawless sibling. Deep down, he knew the truth that his brother was deeply flawed, ensnared in his own web of corruption, utterly blind to his own shortcomings.
“I will let you know that I do eat my fill in winter.”
“Do you truly?” the fairy king questioned his twin. As he walked over, he gently took Izuku's small hand and led him across the room toward a grand table adorned with an array of colourful delicacies. The king lifted the child with effortless grace, helping him onto a beautifully carved chair.
Izuku’s wide eyes sparkled with curiosity as he looked at the food. Noticing his son's fascination, the fairy king placed a freshly made sandwich, its crust golden and edges slightly crispy, before him. Alongside it, he set down a slice of nut-based pie, its rich, earthy aroma wafting invitingly, promising a delightful taste.
“Yes, I do! Winter may be harsh, but we do have food to eat.” Yoichi protested, his voice firm.
He stepped closer to his brother and watched him place different foods onto his plate. They were all his favourite foods from the other seasons. It was a little unsettling how his brother remembered every single one; it felt as if each meal was carefully chosen, as a reminder of warmer days he shared with his brother.
"You can sit next to me," The fairy king said, offering a warm smile. All for One settled down beside his son, the soft fabric of his coat rustling as he shifted. He turned his gaze toward Yoichi, who was preparing to take a seat on his right.
“Is this your plan?” Yoichi exclaimed, his voice laced with a mix of disbelief and fury.
The tension in the air crackled around them as he glared at his brother, frustration radiating from him. It infuriated him that his brother continued to view him as nothing more than a pawn in his game, devoid of autonomy or emotion. The memories of their last confrontation flooded back, a bitter reminder that nothing had changed; the cycle of manipulation and control continued unabated, trapping him in a web of his brother's making.
“Siblings are meant to share a life filled with adventures and memories,” The fairy king spoke earnestly, his crimson red eyes shimmering with sincerity. “All I desire is for you to remain by my side.”
“By being your prisoner! This isn't freedom!” The other fairy complained.
“Don't be silly, brother. You are my guest. My prisons are much more cramped and uncomfortable.”
Izuku listened quietly to the conversation; it seemed the two fairies had a complicated history. He agreed with Yoichi on this, as he, too, was stuck here against his will. He decided to take a bite of his sandwich, and it was amazing.
"It's so delicious!"
“Of course, my chefs prepare only the finest foods,” The fairy king stated, pleased that his fairies did not disappoint.
Yoichi eyed the food, it did look very inviting and good. But he refused to touch anything and instead just sat down on the chair.
“Aren't you going to eat something?” Izuku asked, curiously as he took another bite.
“Of course, he is eating.” The fairy king put some food on a plate and placed it in front of Yoichi before taking some food for himself.
“I am not hungry.” He replied.
“Don't be silly, everyone is hungry in the morning. After all, it is the most important meal of the day.” All for one moved the plate closer to his brother.
“Pass,” Yoichi said bitterly.
“Are you sure?” Izuku asked, wondering why the fairy didn't want to eat.
“You aren't still angry about the past, are you, brother?” the Fairy King questioned, noticing how his brother's expression darkened as if he wanted to hurt him.
“Angry? That’s putting it mildly. You tried to kidnap me, and in the process, my wings were broken! It’s your fault that I can’t fly anymore!” Yoichi shouted furiously at his brother, venting the frustration that had built up over the years. Because of his brother's actions, he was forever bound to the ground.
“It wasn't my intention for you to lose your wings. I should have known better back then,” All For One said, his voice filled with sadness over the injury he had caused. He remembered the accident as if it had happened just yesterday. It was tragic that his brother lost his wings, but at that moment, it felt like a small blessing his brother could no longer fly away from him.
“If it makes you feel any better, I have been searching for a way to restore your wings and found the mirror of incanta.”
“Don’t make me laugh, there is no cure for broken wings. Besides, that mirror is just a fairy tale. It does not exist.” Yoichi snapped at his brother. He didn't like the lies his brother was telling him.
“You haven’t changed at all. It’s still foolish to believe that the old fairy legends are nothing more than myth. The undeniable proof of the mirror's power stands before you, my son. How else could I have transformed him from a mere human into a radiant fairy?” A smug smile played upon the fairy king's lips as he gazed at his brother. In truth, it wasn't hard to believe that such extraordinary artifacts once existed; he had cultivated quite the collection to attest to their reality, carefully hoarding these ancient relics whenever he could uncover one.
Yoichi was speechless and shifted his attention to the child, whose wings were lowered, showing that he was sad. “Is it true?”
“Yes, I saw the mirror that night.” Izuku nodded, confirming that the ancient mirror was real and possessed the power to change him. It was a bitter memory that he preferred not to recall.
"My wish was simple: I wanted my son to become a fairy so he could live with me here in Pixie Hollow. However, I didn't anticipate that the Mirror of Incanta would turn him into a winter fairy. That complicated matters, but I was prepared and had a winter house ready." The fairy king explained, excitedly. "It certainly helps to plan ahead for any situation."
Yoichi was stunned by what he was hearing. He had always dismissed fairy legends as mere tales, but now he realized he was dead wrong. His brother had actually stumbled upon an ancient magical artifact, and in a shocking turn of events, caused unimaginable harm to Izuku.
“You ruined his life!” Yoichi yelled furiously at his brother. He clenched his fist, feeling anger towards his brother; didn’t he understand that this child already had a family and a loving parent?
“No, I have freed him from being human. Their lives are so short compared to ours, filled with endless struggles. Here at Pixie Hollow, living as a fairy, he will have a long and happy life by my side, one free from worry. I will ensure that it is so.”
"That's not your decision to make!" Yoichi exclaimed, his tone laced with frustration. "Just as it's not your right to keep me locked up here! You can't do these things without people's permission!" Was his brother really this thick-headed?
“Of course I can. It’s within my power to do so.” The king smiled and started to eat some of the food. His chefs had done well; the food tasted quite good. Perhaps he could allow the team to rest a bit longer.
“Unbelievable! Was this how you felt when you eliminated the previous Queen of Pixie Hollow?” Yoichi narrowed his eyebrows and stared at his brother.
“That old hag? She was a completely worthless Queen and had forbidden me from meeting with you. Can you imagine that? It was a ridiculous rule I never intended to follow. However, she did teach me some decent techniques for ruling a kingdom.”
“Stop trying to sidetrack! You killed her just to take the title of king and pretended it was an accident, claiming she flew too close to the territory where the Hawks roam and got aggressive during their breeding season,” Yoichi stated with a sneer. What frustrated him was that his brother didn't even look guilty and just kept smiling.
“You know about that. Well, how else was I supposed to become king if she was alive and in my way? Honestly, I did her a favor by allowing her to be remembered as a complementary queen.”
“What is wrong with you?! Anyone in their right mind knows that murder is wrong!” Yoichi pointed out.
“Enough about me; let's change the subject to you, shall we?” The fairy king said as he continued to eat his meal with his son, who was now enjoying the nut pie. “You need to eat something, or my poor chefs will lose their lives because of you.”
“W-what? You can't be serious!” Yoichi exclaimed, shocked at the thought of innocent fairies facing death.
“By now, you know I am a king who means what he says. If you refuse to eat, the chefs' lives will be forfeit, and it will be because of your stubbornness.” All for One explained. He loved his brother dearly, but over the years, he had grown weary of his twin's obstinacy. Yoichi was always denying him, hiding, and undermining their warmer seasons with his sabotage.
If his brother wanted to play this game, he would make sure to remind him why, as the fairy king, he always remained on top. After all, his brother was soft-hearted, and it wouldn’t hurt too much to give him a little nudge to do what was necessary for his own good.
“You can’t! That is wrong and bad!” Izuku had stopped eating when he realized what was happening, looking at the fairy king with pleading eyes. “Please, don’t kill the chefs.”
“I do not want to kill my chefs either; this batch is very talented. However, if my brother refuses to eat, their lives are in his hands.” All For One smirked at his brother, as if to say checkmate.
Izuku shifted his gaze to Yoichi, who appeared to be battling an internal struggle. “Fine, I will eat.”
“Splendid! Here, try this first.” The fairy king presented several different dishes in front of his twin to choose from, while Yoichi looked at his brother with disappointment and anger.

After breakfast, the fairy king had Yoichi and Izuku play a variety of board games, all of which he had learned from humans. His fairies created these games in a fairy-sized format for them to enjoy. The king spent a few hours having fun with his family until Hawks arrived to inform him that he had a meeting and was needed.
Although All for one was not happy to hear this, he knew he couldn't ignore the meeting. He bid his brother and son a short farewell, promising to return soon.
Exhausted, Yoichi and Izuku lay on the floor, realizing just how tiring playing games could be.
“My fairies better rescue us soon, or we won't last another day,” Yoichi said, wondering what they were planning. It better not be something silly like spraying the entire Pixie Tree with skunk odor. Wait, actually, that was a good plan; his brother would smell bad for days!
“I hope so too. The fairy king has never stayed this long. He usually only has breakfast with me and then leaves,” Izuku informed him. It felt strange to have the king over for so long.
"That's because I am here. He wouldn't pass up the opportunity after waiting so long for my capture. I apologize for that."
"This isn't your fault; it's mine." Izuku looked down at the floor, feeling sad as he lowered his wings on his back. "All this could have been avoided if I had just stayed home that day. If I had never met the fairy king, I would still be human, and you would still be free. I'm so sorry."
"Hey, this isn't your fault. You didn't mean for any of this to happen. It's my brother's fault we ended up like this; he's too prideful to let go of anything," Yoichi explained as he hugged the fairy child, who returned the embrace. "Everything is going to be alright, you'll see."
“Will it really?” Izuku asked as he looked up at the fairy with his large green eyes, trying to search for hope.
“Yes, it will.” The fairy smiled warmly at him.
At that moment, they were jolted to attention by a trumpet blast that rang out so loudly it sent both fairies leaping to their feet in a panic.
“What is that sound?” Izuku exclaimed, his eyes widening in concern as he turned to Yoichi, who was about to respond. Just then, the air was filled with a chorus of terrified screams coming from outside, making their hearts race.
Yoichi took Izuku's hand and led him to the nearest window to see what was happening outside. His gut told him that something really bad had just occurred, but he had no idea what it was. As they looked outside, Yoichi couldn't believe what he saw.
“Adults? And so many of them!” Izuku exclaimed, his eyes wide in disbelief as he watched the grown ups eagerly trying to catch fairies in small bags.
Yoichi's face paled as a look of concern washed over him, and he wiped the sweat from his brow. He uttered, “They are pirates.”
“This is really bad! We need to get away from here!” His voice quivered with anxiety, clearly feeling the weight of the danger looming ahead.
They both watched as fairies flew for their lives while the fairy guard tried to push the pirates back with their talents and strength, which did little to deter the pirates.
One pirate, dressed in black with white-blue hair, pointed in their direction. The other pirates seemed to follow his orders as they headed towards the Pixie Tree.
“It just got worse.” Yoichi declared, a wave of worry washing over him. He couldn’t shake the feeling of uselessness as the reality of their situation sank in. They were trapped in the house, and he felt a pang in his chest at the thought. If only he were a real fairy king like his brother, he could have teleported himself and Izuku out of this predicament.
"W-what will happen to us if we get captured by them?" Izuku asked, his voice trembling with anxiety. He could see the deep worry etched across the face of the winter fairy.
“I don’t know,” he replied, his eyes wide with fear. Pirates in Neverland were feared for good reason, it was said that the boy who had become captain was once a child his brother had kidnapped.
“If I had to guess, we’d probably be sold off to humans, and... and never see Pixie Hollow again.” The thought weighed heavily on them both, sending a chill down Izuku's spine as he imagined the worst possible outcome.
“What will we do?! We can’t stay here!” Izuku panicked as he stared out the window, watching the pirates slowly approaching.
With determination, Yoiching surveyed the living room, his mind racing for a solution, and his gaze fell upon the wall where three of the blue gems lay. In that moment, a spark of an idea was revealed to him, and it could actually work.
“Quickly! Grab the blue gems and put them in your pockets!” Yoichi ran to the wall and pulled off as many of the gems as he could and put them in his own pockets.
“Okay, but why are we doing this?” Izuku asked as he followed instructions. As he put the gems into his pockets, it finally made sense. “You mean with these gems we can leave the house?”
“Yes! We could fly back to the Winterwood before we get captured by those pirates! Now come on!”
Izuku followed Yoichi to the door when it suddenly opened, and before them stood Hawks.
“Wait, did my brother send you?” The winter fairy questioned as he eyed Hawks.
"I'm afraid the king is currently occupied with the pirate captain. I would strongly recommend that you make your escape at this time, unless you wish to risk being captured by the pirates," Hawks stated, offering Izuku a bag of pixie dust. "This should assist you in your journey back to winter."
Izuku took the pixie dust and smiled warmly at the guard. “Thank you.”
“You're welcome, now off you go,” Hawks told them both.
“What are you going to do?” Izuku asked as he sprinkled some pixie dust over himself.
“I will try to save as many fairies as I can.” The guard told him before he jumped off the tree and flew off.
“I hope he will be okay,” Izuku said and couldn’t help but worry for Hawks, he was a good guy.
“He will be fine. My brother's guards are quite tough,” Yoichi tried to assure him. “Let’s repeat what we did yesterday: I will hold onto your hands, and you will fly straight to the Winterwoods.”
“Alright.” Izuku agreed to the plan; it would have worked yesterday if they hadn’t been caught by the king.
Izuku grabbed hold of Yoichi’s arms and flapped his wings. Before he knew it, they were both off the ground, soaring into the air to escape the screams and chaos behind them. It saddened his heart that the other fairies were in danger, but he knew he couldn't save them, as his own time in the warmer season was limited.
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, and a bullet narrowly missed Izuku as he lost some altitude but quickly regained his height and flew upward. He attempted to look behind him but couldn’t see anything. However, he didn’t need to see to understand the situation when he heard the captain yelling, ordering his men to capture him and Yoichi.
“Just keep flying! They can’t catch up to us.” Yoichi shouted as he could feel the wind getting colder, all thanks to the child using his talent that had turned from fast flying into a blizzard.
“Okay, but won’t they wind us in winter?” Izuku asked, concerned. They had just entered autumn, and he could soon see winter just ahead. He just needed to fly a little faster, and they could soon be free!
“They won’t last long in winter. Besides, we have some good hiding spots for emergencies.” Yoichi replied. He could feel his own grip loosen, he tried to keep a firm grip on the child.
Another gunshot rang out, echoing through the frigid air, followed by yet another. The pirates below, their eyes narrowed and determined, had opened fire, forcing Izuku to swerve and dodge in mid-air. Each bullet whizzed past him, the sound slicing through the howling wind, a stark reminder of the danger they were in.
But just ahead, a glimmer of hope flickered in the distance—winter awaited. Pushing his wings with every ounce of strength he could muster, Izuku felt the surge of power coursing through him. The blizzard he summoned roared to life behind him, swirling and churning as it grew more ferocious.
With renewed determination, he soared faster, the icy winds wrapping around him, propelling him forward. Finally, they crossed the threshold into the winter woods, a sanctuary of white, where the howling winds became a whisper, and the threat of the pirates faded into the distance.
“We made it!” Yoichi shouted with joy, his heart overflowing with happiness as he gazed at the sparkling snow. But they were going too fast, and the tall trees began to scratch them. “Izuku, you need to slow down!”
“I am not sure how!” the child exclaimed in a panic, his voice trembling as he desperately tried to slow down.
The icy wind whipped through his hair, and the thrill of speed quickly turned into a heart-stopping fear. Despite his efforts, the momentum he had built up was too strong; they barreled forward uncontrollably. With a sudden jolt, they crashed into a sturdy tree, the impact jarring their bodies. They tumbled through the air, landing with a soft thud on a bed of fresh, powdery snow that cushioned their fall. Snowflakes swirled around them, sparkling in the sunlight, but the exhilaration was quickly replaced by the pain felt in their bodies from the landing.
“Ahah! We are back in winter! Well done, Izuku!” Youishi sat up and brushed off the snow from his shoulders and head.
"W-we are safe now?" the child asked as he got to his feet and shook the snow off his body. It felt strange not to feel cold when touching the snow; it was something he hadn't gotten used to yet, and he couldn't help but marvel at it.
In that moment, the stillness of the winter woods was shattered by distant shouts, echoing through the snowy branches. They both paused, their breath hanging in the crisp air, straining to decipher the sound. It was unmistakable – the commanding voice of the captain, sharply slicing through the cold, barking orders to his band of pirates.
“How hard is it to find some tiny fairies?!” he demanded, his tone laced with urgency and determination.
“We need to get moving,” Yoichi said, walking over to Izuku. He grabbed his arm and began to lead him to the winter village, where they had dug into the mountain to create a secret hideout. No one would think to look for them in the same place.
Yoichi whistled and waited awhile, keeping his eyes on the sky. He did this a few more times until an owl appeared. He exclaimed in delight, “Owlbert! I am so happy to see you.”
Izuku watched as the fairy hugged the owl, who hooted happily back at his owner. He had forgotten how big the animals were now that he was a fairy, it had never crossed his mind before. The owl truly looked impressive.
“Clim right on, Owlbert won’t mind and he can take us to the other much faster than we can on foot.”
“Alright.” Izuku flew up and sat next to the fairy.
The owl spread its large wings and soared into the sky. Soon enough, they reached the village, where they saw the fairies below, fighting each other.
Yoichi couldn't believe what he was witnessing and wondered what had happened to everyone. He gently urged Owlbert to descend beside his fairies. The owl obeyed eagerly, its wings folding with a soft rustle as it landed. In that instant, the fighting around them ceased, and all eyes turned, wide with astonishment, towards Yoichi and Izuku.
“What is going on here?!” Yoichi demanded of his fairies.
“You don’t want to know.” Second replied. Not in the mood to explain the stupid plan they had executed and backfired.
“Why is that?” The fairy questioned and saw Yagi step forward and spoke.
“Well, we all knew you got captured at the rescue attempt. So earlier today we decided to do something reckless.”
“What have you done?” Yoichi pressed, his eyes narrowing as he noticed some of his fairies avoiding his gaze in shame. The realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. “Wait… were you the ones who brought the pirates to Pixie Hollow?”
“Well, quietly as charged.” Daigoro said awkwardly. While Yoichi and Izuku stared at him and the others stunned by what they had done.
“We were desperate to get you back, and some of us didn’t think straight,” Hikage explained, eyeing the others who thought bringing in pirates was a great idea.
“Next time, don't bring in pirates! Innocent fairies are being captured by them, and we all know that’s a fate worse than death!” Yoichi scolded his fairies. He understood their intentions. They just wanted to rescue him, but things had spiralled out of control. Perhaps he should establish rules for future rescue missions.
“We deeply apologise for that! It won’t happen again!” Yagi bowed in an apology.
“We will speak more of this later. For now, we need to hide. The pirates are here at the Winterwoods, looking for us.” Yoichi said as he took Izuku's hand and led him into their secret hideout inside the ice mountain.
“Right, you heard him, everyone! Operation sit it out is active.” Kudo yelled as he and the others followed right behind their leader.

Bonus Time!
------------------------------------------------------------------
As December returned to the mainland, it brought with it the familiar chill of winter. The landscape transformed as frost blanketed to the ground, the sun sparkling the snowflakes as they glided through the air. Each year, this enchanting shift marked the onset of a season filled with both beauty and challenges, as families prepared for the holidays.
Inko was sitting by the window in the kitchen, looking out at the night sky while sipping on hot tea. Her life was miserable. She missed her son as he had been missing again, and the police hadn’t found him yet.
The last time he went missing, she had asked him where he had been taken. Her son explained that it was a faraway land where no one aged, inhabited by fairies and other fantastical characters. She didn’t believe him; such a place couldn’t possibly be real. Even the doctors suspected that her son must have been under the influence of heavy drugs during the kidnapping.
At that moment, she was exhausted. Once again, she had put up posters of her son, hoping to receive a call that someone had found him. It had become a distressing routine for her to check her phone every day, waiting patiently for it to ring.
Abruptly, a soft knock echoed against her window, prompting her to turn her head. As she leaned closer, her breath caught in her throat; there, framed by the glass, was a fairy. Blinking in disbelief and curiosity, she moved closer to the window to get a better look at the delicate creature, her heart racing as she recognised the fairy.
“Izuku?!” Inko's eyes widened in disbelief and her voice was trembling with shock. She fainted, her head thudding heavily against the kitchen table.
