Summary
From the very day she arrived in Olympus, Annabeth had been quite different from the other fairies. Nearly every other fairy in Olympus was born from a dandelion seed, blown from the first laugh of a baby, and with a touch of fairy dust, a new fairy or sparrow was born. However, when Annabeth arrived at Olympus, she wasn’t born from a dandelion seed, rather she, like every other governing-talent fairy, was born from a falling star that had been wished upon by a child. While other fairies and sparrows, when they were born, had to participate in the arrival ceremony that determined which magical talent the new member of Olympus was destined to have; it was just yet another thing that Annabeth didn’t have to do. That made her different. Due to the nature of her arrival, there wasn’t a question about what kind of magical talent she was going to have.
But that was all over twenty years ago.
Now, it was only six weeks before Annabeth was due to be crowned as the new queen of Olympus. And that was when everything seemed to start falling apart in an instant. Attacks from an unknown threat, Annabeth's failing magic, and a forbidden relationship threaten to ruin Annabeth's reign long before it even starts.

I have to fight so they will too, but the benefits aren’t for me to reap. Sometimes you have to lose things, Clarion, for others to have them.”
Clarion had been braced for all types of challenges now that she finally had Milori back. Even though this was supposed to be the easy part. Even though their love was no longer doomed to end at nightfall. Even though they’d bridged the border. She wasn’t naïve enough to think it would be easy, not in a land of magical freezes and sentient trees and divisions that ran so deep.
Clarion, who was so used to losing people, hadn’t realized that getting them back also meant having to confront who she had become in their absence.
