Chapter Text
You can feel a burning sensation, a hand squeezing you tightly.
You had been caught off guard, and Kris must have taken advantage of you dosing off to pull you out….Again. You knew it was going to be the same song and dance where Kris was going to run off and maybe make a dark world or two somewhere.
You stare at Kris’ face, hoping for something, ANYTHING that showed any slither of empathy for you. But you saw nothing in that face full of hatred. It was understandable since you did control Kris to do stuff they never would have wanted.
They always loved pranks. And you? Acted like a goodie two shoes hoping to not mess anything up with anyone.
But you didn’t want this either, you had made a vessel maybe 3 days ago, and you never got to use it. It was discarded, like the thought of the consequences of putting a soul into a conscious being.
Next thing you knew, you were under a pillow. you could feel every thread, every seam, every fibre. It was torture having to feel it, so you decided to get out.
And just as you got out from under the pillow, Click!
The door was closed. Great. You’re stuck in this room. You guess that you can look around but this room has always been the same, other than the prize Susie had thrown onto Kris’ side of the once shared bedroom. You wander the room hoping for something, ANYTHING that would be of interest to do while Kris was away.
There was a buzzing sound.
You search around and found Kris’ phone on the ground, they must have been too busy making sure you didn’t get out that they didn’t take their phone with them.
The phone buzzed again.
You go to check, and there is a no caller ID number calling. Since Kris wasn’t there, there was nobody to beat you up if you did something they didn’t want you doing.
You slam yourself against the accept button.
“HELLO.
ARE WE CONNECTED.. KRIS?”
The voice called out. It didn’t sound real, the pitch shifting every few seconds. To put it into better words It sounded off, robotic even. Like that old “Better Sam” text to speech.
You attempt to respond, but its hard to speak.
Its better off you type anyways.
‘Yes we are connected.’
You typed the letters in nervously. You had the nagging feeling as if whoever was on the other end of the line was growing suspicious of how slowly you had typed, never mind the fact you weren’t talking.
“GOOD.”
If you had arms you would have wiped the beads of sweat growing on your so called “forehead”.
“MIGHT I ASK,
WHY ARE YOU NOT TALKING,
KRIS?”
You froze.
You hadn’t even thought that they would ask that, your mind running wild with excuses while your heart races a million miles an hour.
But you suddenly had an idea.
‘Toriel is asleep, and I don’t want to wake her up.’
“HOW THOUGHTFUL.”
“BUT I MUST SAY..”
“YOU DONT SEEM TO BE KRIS.”
Everything in you had gone silent. They had figured it out. You thought it had been going smoothly, that you had it in the bag.
But they knew.
“I MUST SAY,
YOU ARE
VERY
VERY
INTERESTING.”
‘I must go now, im sorry.’
You hung up, not wanting to make things worse.
BZZZZZT.
The phone rang again.
You declined.
BZZZZZTTT.
You declined.
The phone rang yet again.
You sat in silence, wondering why they wish to talk so badly.
You decided to pick up the phone.
“AH.
SO YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR MIND.”
“HELLO, PLAYER.”
‘Excuse me?’
“YOU ARE THE ONE CONTROLLING KRIS.
IS THAT NOT CORRECT?”
You hesitate but push out an answer.
‘I mean I guess I am but I never wanted this.’
“HOW INTRIGUING”
“DO YOU NOT SEE IT AS YOUR OWN VESSEL?”
‘No?’
“INTERESTING.
YOU SEE THEM AS SEPARATE.”
‘Of course I do. Kris has done nothing but show me that they are conscious and don’t want this ever since I even started “using” them as a
vessel.’
‘I don’t even know why I have to use Kris as a vessel. Why not the one I made?’
“YOU MUST HANG UP NOW.”
‘What?? But you haven’t answered my question??’
“KRIS IS HERE”
And before you could type a reply, the person on the other end hung up. It also seems like they blocked you because all the messages were gone.
You could hear the door open, and just like clockwork, Kris was indeed back. Just like the phoneman said.
You could only guess what tomorrow could bring forward.
