Kris and Susie Hang Out

Notes:

This was initially apart of a much larger story, however I'm not sure when I'll continue it (I really want to though). But, I liked the intro part so much, despite the shortness, that it felt like a waste to have it most likely just rot in my documents forever. So here it is!

This will be the first time I've ever put my writing anywhere, and also one of the first times I've ever written Deltarune stuff. I hope you like it :D.

Special thanks to the people in the one Kerdly Discord server.

Work Text:

Kris was sitting criss-crossed on the middle of their floor, tapping their foot against the rug and staring out of the window, anticipating for it to just suddenly become multiple shades darker if they stared hard enough. They didn’t really have anything to do right now, they were in a stage of simply waiting. The air felt stagnant. Seconds felt like days, and hours felt like years (they really were looking out their window for that long), when finally…

“Kris, I believe your friend is here!” Called Toriel, following the sound of the door’s chain unlocking and the doorknob turning.

Kris instantly bolted to their feet and ran down the stairs, almost tripping several times, before darting around the corner and right to Susie. Kris was practically shaking with excitement. The two had already hung out quite a bit before, but the energy never wore off between them. They weren’t even particularly doing anything big, but these times were basically anything they had to look forward to. And they wouldn’t trade these times for the world. As they greeted each other, they both said goodbye to Toriel and made their way down the street.

“Hey, wait,” Susie started, shuffling in her pockets as they walked together. “Think I have some change in here. Don’t know where that came from.. You feel like going down to Icee’s?” She asked.

Kris nodded.

“...You wanna go disintegrate our teeth with the soda drinks?” She added, smirking to their already-known response.

Kris nodded much more quickly this time.

The two of them snickered together as they ran off to the restaurant. Susie really only had around a few dimes or so, but that was more than enough. It was a miracle that Icee’s hadn’t closed down yet, the drinks from the soda fountain were mere cents. Maybe that stuff got to be so cheap because they were secretly just sucking out garbage juice from the back alley with straws and putting sugar in it, kinda like how they reused their pizza slices. Kris and Susie believed this, but it didn’t matter, because it was really good garbage.

They opened the doors and immediately made their way to the dispenser.

“LITTLE BUDDY! Hey, you NEED to see what Pizzarina ju-” Pizzapants began, then quickly stopped to witness what the two of them were doing RIGHT next to him.

In sync as if they had coordinated this, they stuck their hands out under the respective drinks they wanted (Jammin’ Jlueberry, a definitely not made up fruit that was actually just vaguely blueberry, and Gammin’ Grape, pronounced Jammin’) as they turned on the fountain. The juices spilled out into their hands and they instantly started shuffling the stuff into their mouths as if they had never seen the cups right beside them in their lives. The drinks that escaped from their clasped palms went everywhere. Their clothes, the floor, and all over their arms were now sticky with potential garbage juice. It was worth it. And after a good 30 seconds, they simply looked at each other and walked out the door, no words spoken.

As the doors slammed shut behind them, they both stifled over as they exploded into laughter. Pizzapants, the only employee and person at all in the restaurant at that moment, just stared at them through the glass. He was a little more afraid of them now than before.

“DUDE, there is NO WAY we just DID THAT!!! HAHAHAHA!!!!!” Susie cried, wiping tears from her eyes as she tried to catch her breath.

Kris looked like they were gonna fall over from laughing, before they suddenly composed themself and stood up straight, as if they had remembered something.

“Huh? What is it, dude?!”

They pointed to Susie’s pocket.

“Oh, OH! We forgot to PAY!!! HAHAHA!!!!” Susie started laughing again while she took out the coins, but then Kris stopped her.

Kris grabbed the coins she held out as a mischievous grin escaped them. They proceeded to say nothing as they simply sat down to slip each coin and have them dart across the floor and right to Pizzapants. He just looked at the coins, contemplating his life. There was no reason for Kris to do this and there was no joke to be made with this, they were just in the mood to watch coins go really fast on the floor like hockey pucks.

When they got up from doing this, it began to rain heavily, luckily washing away the remains of the juice from the two of them.

“Dude, I think you just like, put a curse on us. Did you just do some crazy ritual or something?” Susie joked, looking up at the rain.

Kris nodded. Thunder started to roar in the distance as they made their way towards the school.

“WHAT?! Heh, why’d you do THAT?”

Kris started to tell Susie about how they used to practice demon-summoning.

“Damn, you serious? Why’d you never invite me, weirdo?” She snorted.

Kris sucked through their teeth and shook their head as if to say, “you wouldn’t wanna be”.

“Jeez, it go badly or something?” Susie responded, putting her hands in her pockets and looking away for a moment, about to say something before Kris quickly interrupted.

They clarified that it was just because Catti was there.

“Oh, HAHAHA!! That’s even WORSE than what I thought, dude!!!!” She snickered, hitting Kris’ arm.

Kris smiled back.

Now that they were at the school doors, Kris rummaged around in their pockets.

“So, uh, how are we gonna get in here? Looks like they’re locked shut…” She said as she tried to shake the doors.

Kris silently got out and started using a lockpick, trying to act really aloof and cool.

“Were you planning to tell me you had that or were you just waiting for me to say that, dork?”

They blushed a little, not responding. Dang it.

Soon after that, a click sound could be heard. Kris opened the door, looking back at Susie and gesturing to her to come inside. They both quickly ran through, excited to see why Ralsei asked them to stop by tonight.
