Work Text:

Josh went back to Wolf's home. He was not answering any of his calls so at some point he gave up and decided to check on him. The door opened with a silent click and he was in. It was dark inside. Which indicated that the house was empty. He hung his coat and placed the spare keys that Wolf gave him on the kitchen table.

It was past midnight. Oliver wasn't back home. He desperately wanted to call him to make sure he was okay. The disappointment and worry were killing him. He was not sure what had happened earlier with his mom that day but whatever it was, it made him an entirely different person than that morning.

The house was dead silent. He was silent as well. Almost like he was breaking into this household and wanted to make sure nobody heard of him. He went straight to the bedroom. The door opened with an irritating sound, scratching Josh's ears. The room was darker than any other room. The shades were fully closed, and no light other than the light creeping inside from the door opening was present. Josh opened his phone's lock screen to at least find the bed. But what he saw from the light wasn't just the bed. It wasn't empty. Oliver was lying on his side, facing the windows. He was silently shaking and breathing unsteadily. He was very obviously crying. He noticed that Josh was right behind him but he didn't even move slightly, making Josh think he didn't notice him at all.

This sight made Nichols completely forget about what happened earlier. He just wanted to comfort the man he loved truly. Seeing him like this made him feel like he was stabbed in the chest 7 times.

Without waiting much longer he sat on his side of the bed and put a hand on Wolf's shoulder. "What's wrong?" He said with the gentlest voice he had. "Is this because of what happened between you and your mom today? " his right hand was drawing soothing circles on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Josh." His body was shaking harder than before. He was sobbing louder.

"Why were you acting weird all day?" He finally lay himself down on his back. Josh turned around to see him, seeking his touch after the warm hand left his shoulder.

"I learned that my mom was lying to me my whole life." He sighed deeply. "Turns out my dad is very much alive. He left me and didn't come back. And now the reason he found me is just because he's on the verge of death and needs me to treat him. Unbelievable."

Josh's anger was completely gone. He actually felt like a narcissist asshole for a moment. He thought that Wolf acted like this because he told him he was falling for him earlier. He was wrong.

He opened his arms as a hint for Wolf to lay his head on his chest. He got the hint immediately and brought himself closer by holding onto Nichols' waist. Josh brought one hand on the back of his neck and played with his hair.

"I'm sorry I didn't come to the gala. I know it was important to you." Josh placed a kiss on top of his head.

"It was boring anyway." He let out a small chuckle. "So are you still leaving the hospital?"

"Josh... I can't stay there anymore. It's not just my mom. Carol knew he was alive as well. The only things that can make me stay are my interns and you."

"So stay. You don't have to help your dad. He's already dead to you anyway. You don't have to encounter your mom or Carol. Your job is to treat patients, your personal life shouldn't affect your work."

"In this instance it does."

"Well then, it's your desicion."

"Look, I really really want to work with you and my interns, you know that. It's just that..."

"I get it. It's okay."

"Do you still think you're falling for this mess?"

"A hundred percent."

"Good to know." He pushed himself upwards to meet his face. "Because I think I'm falling for you too." Josh's mouth curved upwards into a huge smile.

Oliver buried his nose into Josh's right cheek and made their lips meet. The kiss was awkward. They were both smiling and the way their facial muscles were tense made the kiss weird. Josh pulled away and pressed his forehead against Oliver's.

This was it. Oliver found his soulmate.
