And Through the Leaves Heaven Fell Bright

Summary:

Martyn and Jimmy have been dating for years– since Evolutions SMP, and through every server after that. The only thing is, only Jimmy’s brother, Grian, knows about this.

Or, a collection of Martyn/Jimmy one-shots with an overarching plot.

Chapter Text

Martyn and Jimmy met in Evolutions SMP. Grian had started the SMP, and, because they’re siblings, Jimmy was automatically invited. Martyn, who knew Grian through a friend, was invited because Grian had anticipated they’d get along.

The moment they met they hit it off. They were only so young– teenagers, and they didn’t know much about themselves yet. Jimmy had only just begun to sprout wings. And yet, they knew they were something. As days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, Martyn and Jimmy become close. Very close, in fact. So close that Grian sits Jimmy down one day, and explains that he’ll support him no matter who he chooses to love.

Jimmy, being an oblivious spoon, did not know what he was talking about.

Grian, from that first day on Evo, knew exactly where they were headed.

“Martyn?”

Martyn turns around. It was dark; if it weren’t for the moonlight, Jimmy wouldn’t be able to see the faint outline of where he was sitting, off a cliff, looking off into the distance. Jimmy walked up to him, sitting down on the edge and inspecting the ground far below them, well lit by messily-placed torches.

“Can’t sleep?” Jimmy whispered.

Martyn nodded. He leaned to the side, resting his head on Jimmy’s shoulder. They both moved closer, until their legs and shoulders were touching. Jimmy rested his head on Martyn’s shoulder.

They stared out in the distance for what felt like forever. On one hand, Jimmy could stay like this forever. On the other hand, he really wanted to go back to bed. He just really didn’t want to fall asleep without knowing Martyn was there next to him. Before him, Jimmy had always fallen asleep next to Grian; and before that, well, he was too young to remember. He didn’t like sleeping alone. This was the first time he had fallen asleep next to someone that wasn’t his brother. It was weird. Martyn wasn’t like another sibling to him, but he'd never had a friend this close before. It was unbeknownst to him what it was his brain was getting at, but it didn’t seem to matter. Martyn meant a lot to him. So much, in fact, Grian kept mentioning it. Saying things like ‘go for it’, and ‘I support you’, and such. He didn’t know what it meant, but maybe, one day he will.

He feels Martyn’s head moving. After a beat, he turns to look at what he’s looking at. They meet eyes. Jimmy, in all awkwardness, smiled at him, a tad confused.

“What?” He asked.

Martyn laughed. “Nothing.”

Jimmy visibly furrowed his brows.

“What, I’m not allowed to look at you?” Martyn grinned.

“Well– no, but you’re looking at me weird .”

Martyn shook his head in disbelief. “Oh my god.”

“What?” Jimmy exclaimed.

Sitting up, Martyn looked at him, again , with that weird look in his eye. Jimmy’s never seen this before. He had no idea what to do.

Martyn sighed. “Whatever,” he brushed off. Jimmy yearned to know what it was, but he had a feeling Martyn would never tell him. Martyn moved to lean his head down on Jimmy’s lap.

He instinctively went to comb through Martyn’s hair. That’s what Grian has always done; and he loved it when he did that. Hopefully it’s what he’s supposed to do.

“You’re really confusing sometimes,” he said.

Martyn turned to look at him. They made eye contact. “Yeah? How so?”

Jimmy took a deep breath and paused to find words. “I dunno. Like, I feel like I’m missing something. All my other friends aren’t like this, and– I feel like it’s different? There’s something else that I don’t get and I really wanna know what it is, but I don’t understand. Even Grian seems to get it.”

Martyn smiled. Jimmy had never felt more confused. Was that… funny? He had no clue. His reaction was only confirming what he had said.

He felt a hand on his jaw. Martyn’s finger went to trace his face. Jimmy looked around in confusement, before making eye contact with Martyn again.

“I think you’ll get it one day,” he whispered.

“I want to get it now ,” Jimmy begged.

Martyn sighed, and looked away. “I mean, I dunno, I feel like you’re already kind of getting it.” He dropped his hand, and rested it on Jimmy’s knee.

“What? Everything you say is just more confusing.”

“I know. I’m just worried you don’t want to get it.”

Jimmy looked at him dumbfoundedly. “Of course I want to get it! Everyone else seems to get it, I feel like I’m missing out. And it’s about us– I think– like, I dunno, why won’t you just–”

Suddenly Martyn got up from his lap, and grabbed his chin, stopping him from finishing his sentence.

“Just– shut up,” Martyn muttered, and kissed him.

And suddenly, everything in Jimmy’s mind, all the confusion, all the cluelessness, clicked in his brain. It all made sense.

“Grian! Grian!” Jimmy came shouting down the railroad track. Grian whipped around from where he was building, smiling as he watched Jimmy ride past him. He walked over to where the rails ended, and opened his arms, where Jimmy collapsed into his arms. He hugged him tight, until he let go, excitedly beaming up at him.

“What’s got you so excited?” Grian grabbed his left wing and combed through it, picking out bad feathers. He clicked his tongue. “Gotta take better care of these, Tim.”

Jimmy paid no attention to what he had said, instead began talking extremely fast. “Last night! I get it now! I get what you and Martyn get and– and—”

“Woah–” Grian shushed him. “Okay, slow down. You get… what, exactly?”

“Martyn kissed me!”

Grian smiled. “Did he know? About time.”

“Mhm!”

“That’s great, kid. Are you guys… like, dating now?”

Jimmy nodded happily. “We pushed our beds together.”

Grian raised his eyebrows in amusement. “Is that so?”

Notes:

Hello! This is the start of a fanfiction I've had cooking up for a while. Will be updated as much as I can. PLEASE give me any prompts or anything you want to see these two do, I can do angst, fluff, anything. I'm totally obsessed with this ship and Grian and Jimmy as siblings :D
If you're wondering, early Evo, Jimmy and Martyn are about 15-16 ish, and Grian is about 19-20. Modern day(Past Life, Hermitcraft 10) Martyn and Jimmy are 22-23, and Grian is 26-27.
