Chapter Text

Chapter 1

Sam got up. Like he always did. Getting out of bed was always the hardest part of his day… Well, from what Sam could remember, he could only remember getting out of bed as he sat by himself at a small table in a small one-room house.

He was eating out of a bowl, eating some kind of brown stuff… cereal was what it was called, he could see from the box anyway. He couldn’t remember ever eating a meal before, it was funny because he still knew how to eat, and he knew he’d eaten before…

He got up, finishing his bowl, and putting it in a small hole in the wall. It was a shoot that took dirty dishes and had them washed. How he knew this he didn’t know.
He left his small house, wanting to get to work… what was his work though? But his legs seemed to know where they were going, so he let them lead him.

Sam got to a very big building; it had big glass windows, grey walls, and light running off it. Throw the windows he could see desks inside, the brown of them looking bright next to the dull grey of the walls.

He didn’t know what to do from here, but somehow at the same time he did… So he walked, he knew his job well, but couldn’t tell you how he did it each day, he didn’t know himself.

When he walked in there were chairs all around, lining to walls, it looked like a waiting room with a grey desk in the middle of the room with a lady sanding behind it. Her smile was huge and far too big for her face, it almost looked fake. Her right hand was always to her right ear, listening to what a voice in an earpiece told her. She had spotted Sam and was pushing her desk (It had weals on the bottom of it.) she was soon in front of him.

“Why hello!!” She yelled, it sounded like she was trying to talk over the talking coming from her earpiece.

Sam was almost scared to speak, what if he couldn’t? But he found he could, “H-hello.”

“Welcome!” She yelled brightly. She seamed to happy to be talking to someone.

“What do I—” But she didn’t let Sam finish, she was already chatting away, “My name is Suky #1, I’m here to help!! What can I do for you today?!?!” She yelled happily.

He wasn’t sure what to ask really… but she seamed to know what to answer, “I know, I know, you wanna know what to do, where to go, and how right?!?!” She giggled good spiritedly, “Well, tell me your name, and I can tell you!!” She then stoped smiling and stared at him, eyes wide.

“Um… Sam…’’ He said carefully not liking the way his voice sounded, the way it echoed in this grey room.

“Wonderful!!” Suky half screamed smiling again and nodding, “I got you boy!! You are a thinker!!” She giggled, and nodded again, “Go on now!!”

So Sam did, his legs as his guide having no clue where he was headed. What could a ‘Thinker’ be? And why if he was a Thinker couldn’t he remember anything?

Math.

Math? What? Where did that come from? Why was he now thinking about… Math? Was that something a Thinker did? Must be. Why else would he think about it?

He passed doors that said things like: Lover’s Room (S) , Anger’s Room (B), Happier’s Room (B) and many others. What is this place? He thought.

He then came to a door that said, ‘Thinker’s Room (B)’ and knew he had to go in. He started to grab the handle to the door, and wondered what all the other rooms down the rest of this vert long hall were… He wanted to run down that hall and see for himself what all those rooms were, and how many.
But he didn’t go, he only opened the door to the Thinker’s Room, and went in.
