Summary
Sojiro hadn't had dreams in years. And you can take that both ways. He didn't see visions in his sleep since before taking in his now adoptive daughter, and outside of keeping her safe, his aspirations had stagnated almost as thoroughly as his nocturnal imagination.
So why was he dreaming about coffee shop that had no coffee in it, run by a decrepit old man with an impossibly long nose? And why was the old man telling him his fortune? And why did he feel like it wasn't as simple as just a dream, when the world outside that coffee shop looked so much like when the world had gone mad, at Christmas?
He had far too much going on in his life to consider these questions. (That was a lie.)
