Hikaru probably don't know nothin’, and if that's true, then,, I'll have to teach him.
---
Yoshiki and Hikaru lay on Yoshiki's bed, reading manga together as they did almost everyday. Unknown to Yoshiki, however, Hikaru wasn't reading Master + Master as he usually did, but had instead opted for a shojo manga he had found in Kaoru’s room.
He knew he wasn't supposed to be snooping around in other people's rooms, but he couldn't help himself when he saw a cover of something he had never seen before. Surprisingly enough, he was thoroughly enjoying this new genre. Though it was vastly different from everything else he read he found himself getting dragged into the story.
The female character clearly had a massive crush on the male character, but for some reason that Hikaru couldn't pinpoint, she didn't do anything to try and get him to like her. This was nothing like how he would act in that situation. He was starting to get annoyed at how slow everything was happening. He didn't understand why they didn't just get together already, even though they both clearly liked each other.
Hikaru huffed in annoyance which finally got Yoshiki's attention.
He looked away from his volume of Master + Master and looked at what Hikaru was reading.
“Where the hell did’ya get that?” Yoshiki sounded shocked, more confused as to where he had gotten the manga. Yoshiki knew he didn't read anything like that.
“Yer sister's room.” Hikaru stated bluntly.
“You know yer not supposed to go in other people's rooms, give me that.” Yoshiki yanked the book from the others hands, quickly glancing over what he was reading.
“I know, but it looked so different from what you read, I was jus’ curious, that's all.” Hikaru slumped down, crossing his arms and pouting.
“Why don't they just get together already.” Hikaru quickly changed the topic to what was actually happening in the story instead of why he was reading it.
Still confused about they way they were acting, he looked over at Yoshiki.
“Well because they don't know each other's feelings yet.” Yoshiki explained, he had heard far too many stories from his sister about these exact topics.
“But it's so obvious!” Hikaru throws his arms up in exacerbation.
“Not to them, people tend to be pretty oblivious to stuff like this.” Yoshiki says, now flipping through the pages. His curiosity spiked at Hikaru’s interest in the topic.
Hikaru moved closer and leaned his head on the other's shoulder, still wanting to see what happened next in the story.
As Yoshiki flipped through, something caught Hikaru's eyes.
“Wait what's that?” Hikaru pointed at a panel on one of the pages.
Yoshiki flushed realizing that he was about to have to explain what kissing is to this inhuman being.
He let out a large sigh before talking just above a whisper, clearly being completely embarrassed himself.
“It's kissin’, people do it when they're in love with each other and what not.”
Yoshiki felt as if he would shrivel up into a raisin and retreat back into the earth. The silence between them only grew more tense as the cogs in Hikaru's brain began to spin.
“So they do know that they're in love with each other!”
“No, no, they don't yet. That kiss was accidental.” Yoshiki explained, it would take another 10 volumes for the two to actually confess to each other.
“The hell is an accidental kiss? How can you just fall into someone's lips?”
Hikaru seemed to be asking all the questions that made Yoshiki want to retreat into a corner.
“I dunno man, it just happens sometimes.” Yoshiki mumbled, he had reached his breaking point in this conversation. He didn't think he could even try and explain more to him, it was too embarrassing.
“Well, let's test it out, I need to know if that actually happens.”
Yoshiki's head moved to face the other so fast it was as if he had snapped his own neck. To his dismay, Hikaru was being completely serious. The look on his face made that even more clear. No smile or goofy smirk, just the pure need to experiment.
—
Somehow Hikaru convinced Yoshiki to play a part in his test. Yoshiki was silently thinking over everything that had ever happened in his life to lead to this moment.
Hikaru stood in front of him, hands resting on his hips, clearly trying to figure out the most realistic way to stage this.
“Wait here, I've figured it out.” Hikaru said in full seriousness as he quickly walked out of the room.
Not even a minute later he came running back, half of a banana in his mouth, chewing rapidly.
Yoshiki looked at him in confusion.
Hikaru gulped down the last bit of banana and threw the peel on the floor.
“What the fuck dude.” Yoshiki said.
Hikaru put up a finger, signalling him to stop talking as he tried to quickly swallow the last bit of banana that was in his mouth.
“People slip on banana peels all the time don't they? This is the most realistic way to do this.”
Yoshiki stared in disbelief. There was no way he was being serious right now. The only time that happens is in movies.
“This might be the stupidest thing you've ever done.”
Despite Yoshiki trying to convince him that this was a dumb idea, he protested.
His need for this unknown knowledge was stronger than anything the other could say.
Hikaru prepared for this genius experiment before taking a deep breath and walking forward onto the banana peel. However, instead of falling forward into Yoshiki, he fell back, hitting the floor hard.
Yoshiki stared at him for a second before bursting out laughing.
Laughing louder than he had ever since the real hikaru died. Even though Hikaru’s body was probably screaming in pain, he couldn't help but smile at the sight of his best friend finally laughing. It meant more to him than any stupid experiment could have.
Yoshiki was laughing so hard he had lost his balance and was not on the floor with Hikaru.
“God you're so stupid.” He said, wiping tears from his eyes, finally calming down.
The two of them lay on the floor, looking up at the ceiling, still giggling ever once and a while.
New feelings were starting to stir in Hikaru's stomach; ones he had never felt before. He was warm on the inside for the first time. Something felt as if it was fluttering inside of him and he didn't know how to explain it.
Hikaru thought to himself that maybe he should keep doing stupid things like that.
