Chapter Text
Graduation, something neither Bokuto nor Kuroo wanted to face, but whether they liked it or not they were graduating this year. They were still not prepared to become full-fledged adults yet. That being said, they wanted their last summer in university to be a blast, an adventure that could not be topped, and that adventure would be a road trip all over Japan. But Bokuto and Kuroo could not be trusted alone together, and they knew that so of course they would need to drag their boyfriend Akaashi along with them. Akaashi was their voice a reason, but sometimes he was the instigator to their petty arguments, a perfect balance for the older pair.
.
“If you guys want to be on schedule we should start packing the car,” Akaashi’s voice rang out from the foyer. Kuroo, half asleep, sat up and stared at the man sleeping next to him, snoring without a care in the world. There was a slight breeze coming in through the window which slapped Kuroo in the face as he was not expecting it in the slightest. He glanced over at the digital clock checking the time.
9:28
‘Ah, so that’s why Keiji is up before me.’ Kuroo looked back at the man sleeping next to him, still following the same snoring pattern as before. Kuroo lightly shook him, but to no avail, the man was still very much dead asleep. Then he tried to wake him up again, this time shaking him more violently. The tall black haired sighed, it was a common occurrence that Bokuto would not wake up no matter how hard you shook him, you could most likely throw him off a cliff and he would still be dead asleep, not even moving a muscle.
Kuroo walked away leaving the man to sleep for a few more moments. As Kuroo walked into the hallway he was greeted with the smell of breakfast. Although there was a hint of something burning but Kuroo didn’t mind, he knew Akaashi was not the best cook in the world. That title belonged to him. Kuroo leaned against the doorway, watching him move around the kitchen. Even now, he still wasn’t used to waking up and seeing Akaashi’s face every morning. He could get lost in his eyes every time, a blue that Kuroo had never seen elsewhere. The older one snuck up on Akaashi from behind and gave him a giant bear hug.
“Good morning my dear sweet Keiji, would you mind explaining why my nose is being infiltrated by the smell of burning toast?” He hummed. The younger one glared at him and lightly jabbed his elbow in Kuroo's stomach
“Well if you must know, the burning of the toast is a warning for what’s going to happen in the next ten seconds if you don’t get dressed,” the curly-haired man said with a soft smile.
“Aye aye captain,” he said before kissing the younger one on the forehead. But before Kuroo left the kitchen, he grabbed a cup and filled it up with warm water. Once again he walked into their shared bedroom, watching the two-toned-haired man sleep. This time he knew he was going to wake up the snoring bear from his hibernation. “Sorry Kou but you gotta wake up one way or another fella,” he uttered under his breath before sticking Bokuto's hand into the cup of warm water. The effect was immediate, the owl-looking man jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom. Kuroo's laugh filled the apartment, never seeming to end. That was until a loud voice echoed through the apartment instead.
“BETRAYED IN MY OWN HOME OH THE IRONY!” This made Kuroo laugh even harder, he was gasping for air crying as he got up and checked on Bokuto.
“Sorry about that Bo, but that was the only way you were gonna wake up,” Kuroo said unapologetically.
“Yeah yeah sure, I guess shaking me awake never crossed your mind, hm?” He replied, staring into Kuroo’s soul. But before he could get a reply, Akaashi was already staring at both of them. He said nothing but they both knew that if that didn’t get out of the house in 5 minutes they were going to be tonight’s poorly cooked dinner.
After an eternity, they were finally on the road. Kuroo was behind the wheel, he was the only one who actually had a license. Akaashi sat in the passenger seat, quietly navigating. Bokuto, banned from the front for his “distracting presence,” was sprawled across the back seat like a feral animal.
“Tetsu, are we almost at the first rest spot, I have to pee,” a voice from the back rang out. Kuroo quickly glanced up at the rear view mirror and saw Bokuto squirming around. Akaashi sighed and looked at the GPS, trying to find how long it would take them to reach the nearest gas station.
“The next gas station is about 7 minutes away, do you think you can wait that long Kou?” Akaashi asked, looking behind him. Bokuto nodded and went back to looking out through the window.
As they finally started to pull up to the gas station, Bokuto quickly unbuckled his seatbelt with lightning speed and started sprinting toward his one and only source of relief. He was spewing out some nonsense of his bladder betraying him. Kuroo and Akaashi could only laugh at the sight of their pathetic boyfriends’ small bladder.
“How many times do we think he’s going to ask for the bathroom this trip,” Kuroo says with a grin on his face.
“Too many to count that’s for sure,” Akaashi replied with a giggle. Both men waited in the car since they didn’t really need anything from inside. But the longer they waited Kuroo felt a shift in the atmosphere. Something was about to happen, but Kuroo didn’t know what yet.
Finally Bokuto makes it back into the car, “Sorry guys, I promise I will control my bladder from this moment on.” Both men in the front of the cars didn’t reply and just waited for their partner to get comfortable again. “Alrighty let’s get going!” Bokuto said enthusiastically. Kuroo started the car again and they were back on their 3-month journey.
