Chapter Text
Isagi wakes up to the faint scent of food. He rubs his eyes as he sits up. Placed next to him is a typical japanese breakfast sitting atop a tray. It looks like something his mother would make him on a usual school day, which is unusual considering he now lives in Germany in his own apartment
“Finally up?” Isagi looks up to see his lovely boyfriend, standing next to the door. Ness walks over and sits at the edge of the bed, smiling happily
Isagi chuckles “You’re seem extra cheerful today”
Ness lets out a small sigh “I’m always like this Yoichi” he looks over to the tray still sitting on the bed “Have you noticed anything?”
Isagi smirks “Well, I've noticed my boyfriend has been looking cuter day by day”
Ness’ cheeks tint with pink as he puffs his cheeks and flicks Isagi’s forehead
“You’re so corny”
“But you love it”
“I hate you”
Isagi continues to laugh as Ness began to scowl in annoyance
“But if I’m being honest, no really, other than this tray” Isagi picks up the tray slowly “It smells good. Reminds me of home”
“I made it” Ness mumbles quietly
“Really? This looks really good” Isagi’s eyes slightly widen. He’s not as shocked, Ness is a really good cook, but who could’ve thought he could make Japanese dishes?
“I’ve seen you work so hard lately, and I wanted to surprise you.” Ness looks away, his cheeks glowing pinker
Isagi’s grin widens “Gosh, what did I do to deserve such a perfect boyfriend?”
Isagi takes the chopsticks which lay next to the bowl of rice. Isagi carefully examines them before glancing up at Ness.
“So this is why you wanted to buy these so badly”
Isagi recalls when he and Ness had recently gone out shopping. Although Ness tried being subtle about it, Isagi could easily tell he’d been eyeing something along the way. His suspicions soon proved to be correct when Isagi noticed his boyfriend had suddenly disappeared as he was ordering food. Ness returned minutes later attempting to hide a small, blue paper bag behind other shopping bags. What Ness had been wanting to buy, was in fact the very chopsticks placed carefully on the tray.
“How’d you know?” Ness looks taken aback, his mouth agape
Isagi grins “I just noticed”
Isagi starts to dig in, his stomach and taste buds desperately needing a bite of good food. He picks up the grilled salmon and places it on the bowl of fluffy, white rice. Isagi raises the chopsticks near his mouth and quickly takes a bite, not wanting to keep Ness waiting any longer. The room is quiet, Ness stays still, attentively watching Isagi, waiting to see his reaction.
“Is it okay?”
Isagi glances over at Ness, flashing a radiant smile “It's…really good. Like really good. You’re amazing, Ness!” He then proceeds to take a piece of the tamagoyaki. It looks neatly rolled and carefully cooked. He swiftly takes a bite, moving on to the miso soup placed in a small, ocean blue bowl. Ness continues to watch observantly, his lips almost tugging up into a smile.
Isagi places the tray down as he stands up from the bed. He moves over to sit next to Ness, who’d been sitting silently the whole time.
“You’ve been awfully quiet” Isagi pokes at Ness
Ness finally turned to face Isagi, he looked vaguely worried. Ness scans the room with his eyes, avoiding to face Isagi “Yoichi…did you actually enjoy it?”
Isagi raises a brow “What do you mean?” It was clear he did, if it wasn’t obvious enough by the bowl and plates being empty leaving nothing except crumbs
Ness clutches the bed sheets as he hesitantly speaks up “I don’t really know. What if you’re just lying? What if it wasn’t good enough? Maybe I didn’t try as hard-”
Isagi lifts his hand and starts to caress Ness’ cheek “Alexis, you’ve worked really hard. You said it yourself, didn’t you?” Ness slightly nods “The fact that you took time out of your day just to make mine special, makes me feel so loved. It doesn’t matter whether it’s perfect or not. As long as I have you, I’m happy”
