There’s a new member in House Laurent that was announced to the whole nation of Demacia. A child from the two cities, specifically in the Undercity, as what Piltovans called it, a child of The Lanes. The head of House Laurent took in the child when she found her inside the cargo ship, looking hungry and tired. Dried tears were visible, and she was muttering to herself. It took a lot of convincing to the court that she wants to take in a child from a foreign country. She would rather teach the little one the ways of a Demacian than let that child starve to death. She wouldn’t forgive herself for it if the little one dies alone.
Raising a child was no easy task. Fiora took a new approach in raising Jinx; she didn’t force her to be a lady; she wanted her to bring glory to House Laurent like she did. Her form in fencing was not perfect, but she didn’t hold it against her. She heard Piltover used guns as weapons, and Jinx is still trying to get used to holding a fencing sword. What the Head of House Laurent noticed was that this child likes to tinker. At some occasions, Jinx would visit her office to give random objects as a thank you for not letting her die, for not letting her think she was a mistake. Fiora didn’t want to cry in front of her; she showed her gratitude by hugging Jinx, and that made the little one happy.
One day, Jinx had missed her fencing practice. Fiora looked everywhere for the little one. The maids and butlers haven’t seen her, and that got Fiora worried. She went to the Blacksmith of House Laurent and finally saw Jinx being mentored by the Blacksmith. She observed how Jinx focused so hard on making a small dagger. Fiora finally understood where the child was good at and announced her presence to both of them.
Jinx was nervous, of course, she missed her fencing practice, and she thought Fiora might kick her out, but she was excited when Fiora said she could become an apprentice to the blacksmith; she didn’t need to be a fighter like her. Jinx promised that she could still attend fencing classes, and Fiora accepted it.
The next day, Jinx got lost in the hallways of the palace. She was looking for the training grounds, and she thought to herself that she’d better start listening to whatever the tour guide was saying. She opened a random door, and it was the most organized room she had ever seen… time to explore it!
She closed the door behind her as she took a look around. There were a lot of wooden swords on a rack near the bed and giant armor on the clothing rack. “Giant Pouldrons.” She muttered. Jinx looked around and decided to mark this place with her signature doodle, a pink monkey. She was in the zone that she didn’t notice the door opened, her train of thought disappeared when she heard a gasp behind her.
Jinx immediately turned around, hiding the marker behind her, to see a girl her age with blonde hair but a different shade of blue eyes. They both had a staring contest, and Jinx was gonna beg not to snitch on her, but the girl was amazed by the doodle.
“What’s that?” She asked. Jinx looked back and forth on the doodle and the girl before answering, “A monkey.” The girl was looking at the doodle like it was the most amazing painting ever, and Jinx somehow felt proud of it. “Can I join you? I wanna draw some animals too!” The girl pulled out her set of chalks, and Jinx nodded with a smile.
The two of them giggled as they drew lots of animals around the floor and walls. The room was filled with drawings of the world they wanted to see, full of color and chaos, it was right, it felt right, it was theirs. Jinx nervously looked at Lux and fidgeted a bit, trying to think of how to ask her. Lux beat her to it and put down her chalk, “What’s wrong? I thought we were having fun?”
“I might jinx you. You already made contact with me. I don’t want you to get hurt because of me.” Jinx trembled a bit, which confused Lux.
“Like a curse? No way! You’re the most fun person I’ve ever met, and I want us to be friends!” Lux declared that she had Jinx speechless. “Most kids think I’m too much. I talk a lot, I bore them to death as they say, my only friends are books-”
The more Lux mentioned these, the more Jinx understood everything. They were both the same in a way, both are alone when everyone declared that being different is bad. Jinx looked at Lux and tried to give her a smile, which probably looked more like a manic grin in a way, “Well, screw what they think! I think being different is a good thing…” Jinx remembered what her sister said to her and tried not to cry, “What makes you different, makes you strong.” Lux hugged her tight, and cried for a bit.
“Thanks, Jinxie.” Jinx held her there, afraid she’d disappear. “Did you mean it?” She asked Lux.
“Yes. We’re gonna be the bestest of friends, Jinx. We’ll be the most unstoppable duo in Demacia! People will chant our names throughout the ages.” Jinx started giggling. Being a hero wouldn’t be so bad. Lux looked at her in adoration and smiled, her heart beating fast. Puppy love, as folks in Demacia would call it, and Lux nuzzled her cheek.
A gasp was heard, and they both turned around to see a big guy looking at his room, “Luxanna?!” he shouted. Lux nervously laughed and pulled Jinx to run past the guy, “Sorry, brother!” Jinx lets this random girl drag her away from the chaos they had made. Pretty sure the guy started chasing them, demanding answers to why they had ruined his room.
Fiora saw all this and chuckled. She could see those two being inseparable until the day they die, they already seem to be good friends, she just feared that those two might be caught in a situation no one could walk away from. Oh well, that should be a problem in the future. She needed a good laugh anyway. Garen was still chasing the girls.
