Ezreal kept noticing his best friend's behavior had changed over the past 4 months. He just couldn't figure out why. Oh, and he also hates Durandal's resident delinquent Jinx... why is Lux looking at Jinx and not him though?

Day 6: Good Girl/Delinquent (Battle Academia)

Work Text:

Ezreal knew something was different. He doesn’t know why no one has pointed out that Lux was still using her phone during class. She’d finish taking notes earlier than others, and she’d pull out her phone to text the whole class. In the corner of his eyes, Lux covered her mouth from making a distraction to the teacher. She was looking at her phone and probably laughed at whatever was sent to her. Lux sure was doing a great job of not getting caught. He tried getting her attention by tapping her shoulder or throwing his crumpled paper in her direction, but she wouldn’t budge.

Okay, this is getting annoying

Ezreal was going to grab Lux’s phone, but Professor Graves threw a chalk directly to his forehead, making him flinch and scream from the impact. Everyone in class looked at Ezreal, and some gave him the side eye. “Trying to distract someone in class again, Ezreal?” Professor Graves asked.

“N-No, Professor! I just uh… dropped my pen!” Ezreal gulped a bit and pretended to look for his pen on the ground. Lux raised her eyebrow and hid her phone inside her desk, then looked at the board to retake notes. Ezreal went back to sitting on his chair and took a quick look at his best friend. He thanks the gods for putting her on the window seat because the shine made her look so beautiful, but the problem is that he saw her doing it again.

Ezreal raises his eyebrow and gets weirded out by Lux’s new display of behavior. She usually scolds him for not paying attention to class, but he’s seeing her multitask between writing notes and texting on her phone. He has to get to the bottom of this, and he knows the right person for the job.

“EZREAL!”

“SO-SORRY, PROFESSOR!”

“And then I swooped in from above to attack her, but I was surprised that she had good reflexes and I was too fast, so I used my Arcane Shift to use my ultimate attack!”

“Uh huh, that’s uh, that’s great, Ez,” Lux said in a monotone voice, waiting for the reply from whoever she was texting. Ezreal pouted and decided to continue the story

“I was so mad when she suddenly disappeared from the blink of an eye, and I got defeated when she trapped me with her chompers! She used her ultimate move on me!” He noticed the way his best friend perked up at the mention of chompers but tried to hide that she was interested.

“Lux, are you even listening to me?” He asked. This is going too far, and it is making him frustrated. She usually displays interest in the stories of his great battles. At least that’s what he remembered. He didn’t know she was also doing the same thing, but studying as he ranted about his battles.

“Sorry, Ez. I was just texting my brother that I’m going on a sleepover with someone from my club.”

Doesn’t Garen hate Lux?

He shakes his head, and Lux finally puts away her phone to grab her book to study. He doesn’t understand why his best friend is acting super weird than usual. “Lux, you know you could tell me anything. I’m your best friend, and I promised to protect you,” The sorceress looked at him with a deadpanned expression, knowing he did not promise shit. She sighed and rubbed her eyes for a bit, “Ezreal, I’m fine. Just some family stuff, you know? Don’t worry about it too much,”

They both jolted in surprise when the lockers were suddenly slammed, and both turned to see the resident delinquent of the school, Jinx, asking for lunch money from a random student. Ezreal took the courage and marched up to his rival, well, according to his persona, he proclaimed Jinx to be his rival.

“Pick on someone your own size, Jinx!” He points heroically at Jinx, hoping to intimidate the delinquent with his courage. There was awkwardness in the air, and the random student took the opportunity to run away.

Jinx tilted her hair a bit like a confused puppy and raised her eyebrow, “Do I know you?” she asked. Lux took all her willpower not to laugh at the delinquent’s antics, despite it looking cute in her eyes. She can’t show it, not in front of her best friend. She wasn’t scared of Jinx, she find her cute and her scary face looked so adorable.

That ruined his ego, and he quickly recovered, “I-I’m Ezreal! I’m your rival an-and we share the same class!” He faltered when Jinx rubbed her head a bit, trying to remember anything about him.

“I’m the guy you beat during battle class.” He mumbled, and she somehow picked that up.

“Oh! If it isn’t Twinkle Toes thinking he could outsmart me!” Jinx laughed at the memory of him being trapped in her chompers. “Gotta say, you almost impressed me. I had to go easy on you because of that adorable determinism you got going on. Wouldn’t wanna embarrass Durandal’s representative since he is doing that job anyway.” Jinx cackled some more.

Ezreal groaned in frustration and went up to her face, “I’m going to make you eat your words! At the battle arena on the rooftop, three pm, don’t be late!” Ezreal walked off, leaving Lux behind. He needed to train quickly; he usually skipped class at this time, but he wanted to prove himself to the school and to Lux.

Both girls watched him walk off and waited for a while before they looked at each other. Jinx took Lux’s hand and kissed her knuckles. There was no one else around them, no cameras around because Jinx took care of it a while before trying to steal from a student.

“You don’t need to be jealous of him, Moonbeam. He’s harmless.” Lux smiled when Jinx pouted. She gently pinched her girlfriend’s cheek at how adorable she was right now.

“I know, but he was super close to you, Sunshine! I hate it when he’s being all stupid, lost puppy around you.”  Lux cupped both Jinx’s cheeks and pulled her in for a short kiss. The delinquent leaned onto the touch and let her girlfriend shower her with kisses.

They had both been dating for 4 months, during a camping trip organized by the academy. Lux wanted to keep her relationship a secret due to her parents being on the faculty, and Jinx respected it, wanting her Sunshine to take her time in telling them eventually, even if it hurt her not to show every loser in the academy who her shining savior was. Lux was in pain as well as how patient Jinx was; she was scared that she’d get tired of her, tired of having to hide how Jinx was her whole world.

Lux stopped and nuzzled Jinx’s neck, inhaling the calming scent, and felt her arms wrapped around her protectively. “People might see us, Sunshine,” Jinx murmured, kissing Lux’s hair as she looked around. The sorcerer shakes her head and pulls back, looking at her with determination, “I’m done hiding. I don’t care what they think about you, about us. I love you, Jinx Lane, and I’m tired of keeping this a secret, tired of not showing everyone how much you care about me.” Lux was bold, making Jinx blush and giggle at her confidence.

“What’s the plan, baby?” Jinx asked, closing her eyes when Lux gave her another kiss.

“Tomorrow at the annual battle tournament. I requested that Principal Yuumi pair us together in a duo match. I want you by my side, I want to show everyone what we can both do.” Jinx perked up at the mention of the battle tournament and smiled at her girl.

“You really want to show the world your mine, huh?” She teased, earning a playful shove. The school bell rang, and they parted ways. Lux gave her a flying kiss with a wink, Jinx catching it and pretending to fall as she held that close to her heart. Lux giggled at her antics and watched her girlfriend disappear into the hallways. Lux felt her phone vibrating and she took it out, smiled at the picture of Jinx doing a heart finger sign.

What they didn’t know… is that Katarina witnessed all that. She almost dropped her dagger and blinked a lot, not expecting to see the good student of  Durandal dating the delinquent of the academy. She whispered to herself, “What the actual fuck? I thought Jinx was dating Seraphine?”

Somewhere in music class, with no students or professors yet, Seraphine sneezed a bit and used a tissue to wipe off her nose. Lux rubbed her shoulder. “Do you want me to get cold drops?” She asked.

“That’s really sweet of you, Lux.” Seraphine smiled, and Lux kissed her cheek before opening her bag to give her girlfriend some. “Did you tell Jinx about the plan?” The songbird asked.

“Yep. There’s a trio match, right? I was thinking of showing everyone we’re the unstoppable trio!” Lux declared. Seraphine still remembered that she confessed her love for Jinx in front of Lux, it took her by surprise when they both accepted her, making them a poly couple. She loved her girlfriends dearly, they went on some fun dates, cuddled in their dorms, and trained together. Her favorite is singing to them, it was therapeutic because it helps them focus. She received another kiss on the cheek, and she looked at Lux, staring at her with adoration, making the Songbird blush. Good fucking thing they were the only ones in this room right now.

Oh yeah, Lux is in a poly relationship with Jinx the delinquent and Seraphine the campus sweetheart
