Chapter Text
Akira Kurusu was on top of the world. Perhaps even literally in this moment, as he and the Phantom Thieves danced with the clouds and sent attack after attack towards the ex-Holy Grail, Yaldabaoth. The fight was going about as smoothly as it could with ailments being thrown about. Panther being hit with Gluttony chewed through some of the coffee he’d brewed for the depths of Mementos, Skull inflicted with Envy followed by bashing Mona with his bat, and Queen after being inflicted with Lust stared at Noir with a bit too much excitement.
Despite these setbacks the God of Control was losing any semblance of his control, and the Thieves could see the desperation in the God’s attacks. The frontline switched and Fox, Noir, and Mona rushed to keep up the attack as Skull, Panther, and Queen recovered from their plight and Joker launched another Curse attack watching as it connects with Yaldabaoth’s main body and his body shuddering under the attack.
“So… this is the power that resists ruin…” Yaldabaoth snarled down at the Thieves.
Silence greeted him as the Thieves scowled at the disgusting monolith of a God.
“My control shall not bow down to ruin. My control is the ultimate truth of this world.” Yaldabaoth declared and charged and unleashed a massive attack knocking both lines of the Thieves over with one strike.
As the Thieves got up and jeered and veraciously yelled at the unjust God, the crowd below snapped to their senses watching as the Thieves stood against the powers of Yaldabaoth.
As the crowds turned towards to the Thieves in awe, Mishima rallied their support and broke any remaining hopeless to urge the Thieves on. Sojiro, Takemi, Iwai, Kawakami, Ohya, Chihaya, Yoshida, Hifumi, Shinya, Lavenza, and Sae all joined Mashima and rallied the crowd to support the thieves all giving their steadfast support. From Joker’s deep subconscious he heard a scoff.
“Go on then, show them your true form. You seem to have climbed to be a suitable rival.”
The other Thieves, oblivious to Joker’s thoughts, began to stand rallied by the populus below Mona leading their charge. Joker stood up and eyed down the God as the other Thieves embraced the encouragement and felt their conviction rise once more.
“God is the one who creates the world!” Yaldabaoth declared and though faceless scowled at the Thieves.
“I’ve made up my mind! I will see my justice through for the sake of protecting what I care about.” Morgana declared.
Akira glared at the deity before them, as the other Thieves gave the final verdict on the fate of the abhorrent God. “You messed with the wrong thieves.” Akira asserted in a firm manner as he pointed out in judgement. He felt the full power of the people below and the overwhelming support as his mask shattered and the chains binding Arsene followed suit.
For a moment all stood still, the people, the Thieves, and even the God before them as they watched the spectacle before them. In a moment of false understanding, Yaldabaoth mocked from above the Thieves but then noticed along the horizon an unnatural storm brewing as a massive Demon lowered from above to meet his gaze. Satanael mirrored Joker’s glare as he came to a rest and aimed his sights upon the bright abomination before the Thieves as said Thieves showed their shock and wonder towards the massive persona.
In an instant their strength that had been sapped came back, as Yaldabaoth tried to play off the appearance and unleashed the Rays of Control only to have his attempts be null towards the Thieves. He protested and watched as Joker raised his gun with Satanael mirroring ready to unleash the final blow.
Yaldabaoth felt that this may be his last chance to do anything and thus decided to concentrate his power as he watched in bullet time as Joker aimed at his head. He channeled all of his energy on a gamble, but before he could properly administer his control, he heard the leader of the Phantom Thieves decry, “Begone.”
First, he heard the sound of glass shattering, followed immediately by the immense… pain? Yes, this was pain, what a revolting feeling. The next moment he felt his control and his carefully structured idea topple and internally a great imbalance as his processes collapsed in on themselves. The sins he used to hold the world hostage shattered into sparkling dust.
“What… power…” Yaldabaoth choked while he still could. “But… I refuse to lose to you… Ruin will come… damn you Igor… Best two out of three…” He cried as his body began to glow and he allowed himself to implode. Enveloping the world in light.
