2078:Operation FFC Ep 0#-Rising
It’s one of those nights again. Gunshots can be heard all around the Sector. Fire is visible from afar. The sounds get quieter and quieter and come to a stop eventually. The cold night air smells of chemicals gasoline and smoke. One small building has exploded and crumbled to pieces. A search team from a field clinic got sent out to look for injured,
One of the teammates, Mateo got sent to search there. He was a very talented combat medic, passionate for his hard but rewarding job. He walked across the debris looking for any signs of a human. He reached a corner, and saw a gun pointing at him.
It was a young man, who was laying on the ground clutching his bleeding side, looking at Mateo like a scared animal. He said weakly:
-Who the hell are you!?-his grip tightening on the gun
-I’m not going to harm you I promise.-Said Mateo trying to approach the injured young man.
-What happened? Please move your hand away , I’m a medic I came here to help you.-
The young man looked skeptical, and vulnerable, and after a short silence he gave in.
Mateo began dressing the wound precisely to prevent any infection.
-What’s your name? I have never seen you around.-he said taking out a bit of gauze and medical tape
-It’s Raees. Yours? Should I call you doc or something??
-No need for formalities.. Just call me Mateo.
Raees hissed as Mateo cleaned his wound with antiseptic.
-No mean to scare you but this looks nasty. I’ll have to take you to the clinic.
-Am I going to be fine?
-You’ve lost a lot of blood. C’mon let me carry you
Raees slapped Mateo’s hand away, trying to get up and walk on his own, failing miserably and hissing in process. The medic not wanting to deal with him any longer, picked him up and started walking towards the clinic. The young man lost consciousness due to blood loss. Just when Mateo arrived to his friends ,they put him on a stretcher and escorted to the clinic.
The clinic was a building that once had a different purpose. The corridors are full of waiting patients, talking doctors and paramedics. The air smelled slightly of desinfectant.Tho this clinic wasnt very professionally set up,it has two operation rooms, few exam rooms storage, few others and rooms for patients.
Raees woke up on a cot, IV attached to his arm. Beside the bed sits Mateo. He stands up as Raees stirs awake. The red medical cross in his left eye shines a red light across Raees’ forehead, checking his temperature.
-How do you feel? Any Nausea? Pain anywhere besides your wounded side?
Raees looks down on his side, securely bandaged and dressed.
-I’m fine…I uh.. thanks. for…saving me out there you know.
-Haha no need to thank me! It’s my job after all..
Mateo smiled warmly at the young man.
The smile seemed like a sunshine amidst dark clouds. Raees himself cracked a grin at the heartwarming sight.
Smiles aren’t a common thing around here.
It’s kind of odd seeing someone smile in a clinic where the atmosphere around isn’t very cheerful.
Raees was getting better day by day. His side was successfully sewed up and was already starting to heal.
The clinic started to lack beds for all the injured.
Mateo walked into the common room for doctors and nurses. The administrator walked up to him immidietaly.
-Martinez please give this young man a discharge already we’re running out of beds, and his condition isn’t as bad. We had to keep a patient with a concussion on the floor on a stretcher last night.
-His wound is severe I can’t just-
The director cut him off.
-Give him a discharge i said.
The combat medic decided to check up on Raees one last time when an idea came to mind: “What if I kept him at home?”
-Dude really?
-No problem at all. They want you out of clinic because they’re lacking beds. I have a few days off I will take good care of you.
-But I’m a complete stranger to you why are you doing all this?
-…I have no idea myself. It feels like a right thing to do. Your wound still concerns me a lot, better rest up until it heals more and we will take out the seams okay?
Raees was very skeptical about the idea but he gave in eventually. He was concerned himself about the injury. If this overly kind guy didn’t find him he would end up six feet under.
Two days at Mateo’s place passed smoothly. These two got to know each other better, asking basic questions like: Where you from? What are your hobbies? And talking about everything and nothing. It seemed like they knew one another for years even if they really met few days ago.
The sudden outburst from Freeda’s side caused damage to the place they lived in. Few buildings crumbled into piles of debris, lots of injured and sadly few dead, forever honored by the members of the small society.
What society you may ask? Sector A. Only place in this area who decided to stand together against Freeda, the organization who decided to take over the government and put everyone under their orders against their will.
Sector A has a history of rebelling against them but one year made it really independent.2066 the year of the uprising. People were protesting against the organization being in charge. Freeda Force was used to tame the protest but they couldn’t. The people made even military turn back. Throwing Molotov cocktails, using even street signs as weapons, lastly blocking every border with other sectors. Few days later the walls around the sector got destroyed opening the place for everyone to be free. That’s how the Opposing started and to this day the people are planning overthrowing the government. No one knows when it will happen but everyone believes this will be big.
