"She snapped up, feeling in her joints that gentle- almost energetic- snap towards something performative and ready! The sun filled her room in light a lot dimmer than she'd expected, and as she crept out towards the window and peeled back the curtains, she realized it was brought with rain. Great grey clouds tumbled out across the sky, something rageful boiling inside of them and Maxine wished to herself, strangely, that they would burst. That they would roll over her house and wash through the gardens and over the shudders and that, after hours and hours, it would gather in shallow puddles and that would be all that remained."
