Chapter Text

Running through the halls of Hatchfield high were three teenagers, two having their arms around the one in the middle, helping them run as their leg bled.

“We are so dead,”

Said the boy on the left side, his voice cracking as he spoke. The one in the middle glared at him.

“Dont talk like that man!”

He exclaimed. He wanted to at least hold onto some kind of hope. Finally, the girl just sniffled, holding back tears as the three found their way into the choir room.
The boy on the left would let go of his friend, turning and locking the door as the girl sat the injured boy down in a corner. The boy at the door would jump back and yelp when someone started banging on it. It was a girl their age. She was begging to be let in, talking like normal so the boy quickly let her in, shutting the door as some infected banged on it, singing.

“Thank you, uh—”

The girl said, looking at him. He didn’t respond, dragging things in front of the door.

“Richie, my name is Richie. Now help me with this!”

He croaked out as he tried to push a cabinet in front of the door. The girl went over and helped. A few moments later, the four sat together in silence, unsure what any of them should say. The boy with an injury had wrapped his own sweater around his leg, trying to stop the bleeding.

“So, you are?”

Richie asked, turning to the girl who came in last.

“Alice… Woodward,”

She mumbled, looking at her phone having just called her dad. The boy with the injury turned his head toward her.

“Woodward? Like, uh, Bill Woodward?”

He asked, and she looked at him with a small amount of surprise.

“Oh, yes, do you… know my dad?”

She tilted her head slightly and the boy nodded and shrugged.

“I guess, he works with my brother, Ted”

“Spankoffski?!”

Alice looked even more surprised.

“Yep, I’m Peter Spankoffski.”

Peter put a hand on his chest, smiling slightly but it immediately dropped when he slightly moved his leg. He would wince and look down at his leg.

“It’s going to get infected,”

Richie said bluntly and Peter rolled his eyes.

“Wow! Really? Who could have guessed that Richie?”

He said with pure sarcasm in his tone and Richie just sighed.

“My dad should be here to help us soon…”

Alice mused, trying to break the tension.

“Apparently he’s bringing his friend, Paul.”

“Matthews?”

Richie asked, looking at Alice and she raised an eyebrow, nodding.

“Yes!”

“Wait, Richie, isn’t that your uncle?”

The other girl asked.

“Yeah!”

His mood had fully lightened up, for the next couple of minutes Richie, Alice and Ruth would all talk. Peter just sat there not paying much attention, he was hoping that at the very least Ted would be there when suddenly, there was banging at the door. Everyone jumped up and Richie would get up and cautiously approach the door.

“Who’s there?”

He called out, pushing the cabinet slightly out the way. The others couldn’t hear the other side of the door well but Richie would wait a moment before pushing the cabinet out of the way fully and opening the door.
Paul and Bill came inside. Paul would check on Richie and Bill would go over to Alice, who stood up and hugged Bill. Ruth would help Peter to his feet, which Paul noticed. He went over to help as well.

“You’re Ted’s brother, right?”

Paul asked and Peter shrugged.

“Yeah, I am”

Paul would smile slightly and help Peter up, getting him to go on his own back, giving Peter a piggy back ride out of the school. Bill walked in front of everyone with the gun, everyone squeezed into the car.
Together, they all went back to Hidgens place. When they got there, they had to wait for the door to open. When they did they saw Ted standing with blood on him.

“Oh hey Paul, Bill, Tee— PETEY?!”

He looked at Peter, who was being supported by Paul wide-eyed. He wiped the blood off his face, only really just smudging it.

“Ted, who’s blood is that?”

Bill asked, concerned as it was red blood— not the blue blood of the aliens.

“Hidgens,”

He shrugged nonchalantly, as if it was as simple as asking what the weather was today. Paul and Bill looked horrified, though.

“Why—”

Paul started but Ted put a finger to his mouth.

“Shut up, Paul. It’s not important.”

He huffed, shaking his head as he led the others inside where Emma was. She was cleaning up blood on the ground, getting mad at the fact the carpet was definitely stained.

“Hey Ella, they’re back!”

Ted exclaimed, helping Peter over to the couch

“It’s Em— wait, what?”

She looked up at the others, feeling a bit awkward now.

“Hey Emma,”

“Hey, Paul…”

The two stood there awkwardly until Emma stood up.

“So, can you two explain?”

Ted and Emma looked at each other. Ted just shrugged, going back to the bar to get a drink.
“Not my problem, Elsa. I already led them in!”
Emma groaned at that.

“Of course, he leaves me to do it…”

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Earlier, Emma stood with Hidgens talking about the blue goop, but after she had given her idea about how to defeat the aliens— Hidgens stood behind her and got the needle ready. Before she knew it, everything went dark, but luckily for her Ted had seen this.
He ran to find something to use, finding a spare gun Hidgens had. He loaded it with its only bullet, hiding around the corner, waiting for Hidgens. Once Hidgens had rounded the corner looking for Ted, he would pull the trigger, blowing Hidgen’s brains out and killing him.

“Well, shit,”

Ted mumbled.

“How the fuck am I meant to clean this?”

Ted said, looking at Hidgen’s body.

“Ah, fuck it.”

He shrugged and dragged it to a window. He opened the window and dumped the body out of it, blood now on his hands and face. He would go and wake up Emma, approaching her and shaking her rapidly.

“Okay, Rise and Shine, Ella!”

Ted said, staring at her. He placed his hands on his hips, even going so far as to kick her body slightly.
Seeing as she hadn’t woken up, he let out a long sigh and got up to go grab a drink. The bar was quiet and empty and honestly— he liked that. He would lean over the bar and reach behind, grabbing a bottle and heading to where he shot Hidgens.
Noticing how much blood there was, he rummaged through the cabinets in the kitchen. He grabbed some cleaning products and he began scrubbing at the walls while drinking. Meanwhile Emma finally woke up, she sat up rubbing her head and groaning.

“What the hell… just happened?…”

She muttered looking around. Seeing no sign of Hidgens, she struggled to her feet, still feeling weak. Nothing was too out of place from when she last saw it. No clock in the room meant she had no idea how long it had been. When she went out to the living room she found Ted on his hands and knees, cleaning up some bloodstains on the carpet. He scrubbed as hard as he could, swearing under his breath.

“What are you do—”

Ted abruptly raised his head.

“Finally you’re awake! Took you long enough! Help me clean this shit!”

He tossed her a cloth and she just looked at him confused.

“It’s Hidgens’ blood.”

He said and she just shrugged and began helping him, but this blood was really not coming out. That was when they heard knocking at the door and the buzz of the doorbell.

Ted turned to Emma with a raised brow. Emma glanced back.

“Hey, if you want me to get that door, you’re cleaning all this shit by yourself.”

She said dryly. Ted’s eyes narrowed.

“If I die, I’m gonna haunt you.”

Ted snarled, before reluctantly walking over to the door.

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“And then you guys pulled up.”

Ted added, having taken over the story once Emma had gotten to the part of her being knocked out.

“So he wanted to… help the aliens?”

Richie questioned and Ted and Emma both nodded.

“So, what now?”

Bill asked and mostly everyone stayed silent cause no one knew. The only sound wafting through the air would be Ted chugging down his beer.

“Survive,”

Ted responded with a small smile, wiping his mouth.

“But, how?”

Peter asked and Ted scratched his chin, pondering.

“There might be some boats by the docks. If we get to those, we can get out,”

Alice said suddenly and everyone focused on her, before glancing at each other, all looking at someone else. Only Peter and Ted locked eyes.

“Then… that’s the plan.”

Emma said and everyone nodded grimly.
