Chapter Text
Grian killed him. He killed his beloved, the man he loathed; but loved so so dearly. And now he's gone because of him, because he wanted to interfere, but there was no other way. They watch, and Grian just couldn't let them run wild while they played with his friends like food? with Scar? Grian couldn't take it if he just let them do whatever they wanted. And now he kneeled in front of the body of his boyfriend?? lover? partner? best friend? he didn't know what they were, scar never questioned the late-night kisses when both of them couldn't sleep nor the affection they shared at each other. Now Grian is left wondering for Void knows how long he'll be stuck there for. What were they? did he have the right to love that man after the betrayal? after all of this? Grian couldn't stomach the guilt, Scar should've won. Scar deserved to live, Grian didn't.
Grian couldn't feel, couldn't cry, couldn't utter a single word to his dead lover. The muscles in his body did what they could to get him to stand up. He felt the wind breeze past him as he reached the cliff, one last sorry look to pizza's grave, to scar, to his home knowing he can never go back and then he fell.
Where was he? Grian was falling for Void knows how long, he expected the harsh splat on the floor as his senses tingle and buzz out but... he's still falling? wait no, he wasn't falling. He was on the floor? that's weird. Grian opened his eyes to see another grassy plane. There were no other players in his sight, Grian felt repulsed, anxiety rushing through his veins as he picked himself up. His heavy breathing spiraled, shaky hands immediately breaking wood. Was there another season? this couldn't be happening, not again.
That was when a single thought came to mind. Scar.
Grian dropped the wood just as immediately the thought came to mind, he was here, surely. He'll remember! Scar will— and if he didn't, Grian didn't care, to hold Scar in his arms again, that warm and charming hunk of a man, Grian would be at ease. Scar was his priority, and Grian WILL get to him, no matter what.
He was running, if there was a chance for Scar to be here, then Grian will risk anything just to see him. The guilt coming back as vile pushed up, but Grian held it in, he kept running and running. Even if his mind told him that Scar would've hated him if he saw him again, he kept running anyways. Grian searched and searched, even as the night fell, he pushed through.
Grian saw no one, there was very few animals, and there were no mobs.
It was just him in this world, even as he ran and searched for days. He saw no one but himself. Martyn wasn't here, nor was ren, jimmy, impulse- they were all missing. After the day ended, Grian just couldn't move, he didn't care if a mob blew him up or killed him in the spot, he'd rather lose a life than figure out why the fuck he was there.
Did the watchers intend to fuck with him? make him suffer for their enjoyment? He saw Scar's death at their fault, but there was some part of him that was screaming that it was all him. He should've protected Scar, and in the end, he was left to survive by himself. There was no loving man that would hug him when something went wrong. There was no man that would cry about their llama. Oh, oh pizza. Maybe pizza could've lived better, maybe pizza wouldn't get tortured alongside the players, maybe pizza would've enjoyed its own existence without getting kidnapped by someone. Maybe Scar and Grian could've had a happy life somewhere back in the desert. No war, no killings, no forced death game. It would just be them and pizza. That was a hopeless dream.
"Xelqua" Voices whispered, they shouted, they spoke. Grian knew that voice all too well. But that didn't make him stand up, they didn't get him to budge. "What do you want? you isolated me, you made me kill him, isn't it enough?"
"You stand as a spinner, you needn't a dimmer." They said, wherever they are, Grian doesn't care.
"where am I?"
"The truth is yours to seek, no doubt. You shine like the sun, they look for your clout."
"What? but I won! the games shouldn't continue!"
"We still crave."
"That isn't— You can't do that!"
"But only if you return, it’s a must."
"I'm not going back." Grian said with a finality.
Then no one responded. They were gone. It only gave Grian one answer, Scar wasn't here, and the games will continue, he needs to stop it and fast.
