Work Header

Tripped, Landed, Stayed

Summary:

Training grounds, barking dogs, and unexpected collisions — when Sanemi and Giyuu cross paths one ordinary afternoon, things take a sudden and awkward turn.

Notes:

Honestly idk why I wrote this I got inspired by something wrote this and now finished it. It’s very very short so umm yea

This started as a chaotic little idea involving Giyuu, a dog, and Sanemi’s exposed chest — and then it spiraled into accidental closeness, slow-building tension, and a lot of feelings neither of them are ready to talk about yet

Work Text:

Sanemi Shinazugawa, was training. Until he heard some noises. Sounds like a dog barking and running..

He looked over to see Giyuu running away from a dog that was chasing him. Dogs tend to dislike Giyuu..

When he stop training to look more, Giyuu runs, accidently trips, and falls onto him. His face landed right on his exposed chest as they both fell onto the ground..

"Oof.." Giyuu mumbled. The dog was afar and stopped barking.

"Goddammit, Giyuu! Watch your step!" Sanemi sighed, groaning in annoyance. He was surprised when Giyuu suddenly fell on top of him, his face landing right on his exposed and bare chest. This wasn't a bad position..he thought.

"Seriously? A dog was chasing after you...?" Sanemi smirked, slightly amused by the situation.

Giyuu groaned as he lifted his head up in embarrassment, his face was starting to turn a light shade of pink. His body was still on top of Sanemi’s as he replied to him.

"The dog came out of nowhere! It ran after me and started barking at me.."

he sighed. His hair was messed up from falling. He looked up at him, his eyes on Sanemi’s exposed chest..

Sanemi chuckled when he noticed Giyuu's face turning pink, a sign that he was blushing. He couldn't deny the fact that seeing Giyuu on top of him was..quite enjoyable. He liked it a lot. He loved having him this close. His hand went to Giyuu's hair, fingers running through his messy hair and brushing it out of his face.

"Of course it did..you're like a dog magnet."

He smirked, noticing Giyuu' eyes looking at his exposed chest.

Giyuu looked away quickly, embarrassed he’d been caught staring. He tried to push himself up, but Sanemi didn’t move — in fact, he pressed his hand against Giyuu’s back, holding him there with a quiet strength.

“What’s the rush? Dog’s gone,” Sanemi said, low and almost teasing.

Giyuu blinked. “I’m not trying to lie here all day on your chest.”

Sanemi grinned, not letting go. “Could’ve fooled me. You’re surprisingly warm for someone who acts like a walking glacier.”

Giyuu shot him a look. “You’re enjoying this too much.”

“Maybe,” Sanemi said simply, his thumb brushing against the nape of Giyuu’s neck now, slow and casual like he wasn’t fully aware of what he was doing. “You’ve never blushed this hard in a fight.”

“I’m not blushing.”

Sanemi raised a brow. “Your face is redder than Mitsuri’s mochi.”

That actually made Giyuu huff out a breath — not quite a laugh, but something close. Sanemi felt the breath against his collarbone and his smirk faltered slightly. For all his bravado, having Giyuu this close — his weight, his scent, the brush of his fingers as he shifted to get up — it was too much. And not enough.

“Get off me before I start thinking things,” Sanemi muttered, eyes narrowing slightly as if to mask the heat rising up in his own face.

Giyuu, still too flustered to respond properly, finally rolled off him, settling in the grass beside him. His eyes stayed on the sky, pretending to be unaffected, but his heart was thudding far too loud in his chest.

“…You okay?” Sanemi asked, quieter this time.

Giyuu nodded. “Yeah.”

A pause.

“…You’re not really afraid of dogs, are you?”

“No,” Giyuu replied. “They just hate me.”

Sanemi let out a bark of laughter and propped himself up on his elbows, looking over at him. “Then it’s mutual.”

Giyuu shrugged.

Another silence settled between them, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Not this time. The wind blew softly, rustling through the trees, and the dog had long since disappeared. Sanemi looked over again, eyes lingering.

“…You ever think maybe they’re just jealous?” he asked.

Giyuu frowned. “The dogs?”

“Yeah,” Sanemi muttered, voice almost a whisper. “Of me.”

That finally made Giyuu turn his head to look at him. “What are you talking about?”

Sanemi’s smirk returned, but softer now. “Nothing. Just… if I were a dog, I’d bark at anyone who got near you too.”

And for once, Giyuu had no comeback. No snide remark. Just silence. His breath hitched slightly, but he didn’t look away.

Sanemi looked up at the clouds. “Anyway,” he said gruffly, trying to shake off the sudden vulnerability. “Next time a dog chases you, maybe try not to take me down with you.”

“I’ll try,” Giyuu said, barely above a whisper.

But he didn’t move away. And neither did Sanemi.

Notes:

And that’s where we leave them — tangled in confusion, barely acknowledging the shift between them, and absolutely not talking about how close they just were. Classic Sanegiyuu.
