Chapter Text
Dark choco cookie was frankly a runner
A huge one in fact.
Which has now led him to having targets on his back from the dangerous cookies of darkness, and the entire dark cacao kingdom.
So he decided to lay low.
There had been a brand new kingdom made after all, it was discrete with no questions asked about your past. He didn't even need to give more than a name and picture to be given citizenship.
That was mostly in part due to the fact that he had changed his face and appearance.
For the previously dark choco cookie, the prince of the dark cacao kingdom, was now simply crunchy choco cookie, a commoner who decided to move to start a little cafe in the new cookie kingdom.
He even had a new haircut and an eyepatch, along with colored contacts, he somehow looked even more like his father now though, and there was no hiding the other scars that littered him. But no one could recognize him, so he could live.
Even the sword barely recognized him if it wasn't for the underlying smell of jam on him that refused to let go, and of course, their soul bond
Now it was time for the grand opening of his little cafe, he had saved as much money as he could on his homeless travels for this very moment. Of course crunchy choco did marketing, he had a few flyers on the busy streets, still of course he had to lay low.
We’re still talking about a wanted criminal and ex celeb.
He even still hung the strawberry jam sword on his wall. It didn't matter either way, it would still pester him as the spirit was latched on to his soulstone forever.
Soon enough though, the door to his shop made the little ding, indicating that someone had come in. It was a guy and a kiddo, they both reeked of coffee and strawberries, not that it didn't already smell like coffee in here.
“Oh looks like you lucky two are my first customers, what can i get you two?”
‘This would be the perfect chance to murder them~ just like the good old days~’
Icky jam sword, always a downer.
This was dark choco’s full prince act on display, after all his disastrous childhood left him a few tricks up his sleeve.
And the customer seemed to be pleased too, it almost made the new barista get some life back in his eyes.
“I’ll just take an espresso, and the little kiddo a croissant”
Simple enough order, it was certainly good for his nerves. Crunchy choco handed the strawberry one a pastry he had gotten from a local bakery he liked, now that he thought about it, the kid looked like they had some crepe elements to them.
Now just for the coffee order, first you get the grounds, then you press down as hard as you can (well not that much, if he did that the table might break, he was still a warrior after all) and finally you extract your delicious hot bean juice.
Even if it was simple, the choco cookie felt a little proud. Something he barely felt from himself or others around him.
“I hope this is to your liking sir.”
Maybe the formality was a bit much, this was a mere corner cafe. But it just always slipped out of him whenever the ex prince needed to be polite. He waited around until the coffee cookie took a sip, and thank the witches he liked it. That was good, imagine if he fucked up an espresso.
“I must ask where did you get that sword up on the wall”
Espresso’s words sliced like a dagger through the vibe of the cafe.
Maybe crunchy choco should’ve thought that design decision through.
‘Dark choco, this is a bad idea, maybe we should run from this whole cafe idea if there's one customer and their already asking questions’
The sword growled, it hated jail even more than dark choco, but crunchy choco had already made up their mind to stay
“Well I used to be a traveler and I simply found it in a cave. Thought it would be some good decor”
This seemed to satisfy the customer, letting the cafe owner breathe a little. Eventually the two left and that was that. The day was far from over though as soon a now cookie ringed in.
Oh no. it was someone he knew.
Crunchy chip cookie
But chip was but a child when the prince had been exiled, surely he wasnt recognizable to him.
Still it left a bitter cacao taste in his mouth
“Do you got a mocha?”
Dark choco snapped out of his thoughts. Right crunchy choco still had a store to run. It was cute though, the young warrior always loved mochas. Of course the more bitter kind, the cafe owner would be sure to make it just the way chip liked it.
He booted up the espresso machine, and got to work
—---------------------------
It had been a cold winter day and damn was crunchy chip cookie cold and tired, as much as he hated to admit it, he wanted a well deserved pit stop at a cafe. And there was one right across the street where chip was, it was even opening day.
Walking in he was surprised to see what looked like a younger king cacao, same white hair and eye(s). It also reminded him of someone else but his one eye was a different color from that person’s jam red one. Nothing but deja vu.
But god did he sure want a mocha. It was straight forward ordering but the owner seemed a little out of it after seeing him, must be because of his striking looks. You also didn't see many dark cacao cookies around here, which was more likely it.
He decided to take in his surroundings, it was a lot like home with the black and purple, but there was also a considerable amount of red in there, also a sword on the wall. Must be a traveler of sorts to pick up a weapon like that, it almost had a devious aura to it that made crunchy chips spine shiver.
Oh and there was that guy with the mocha, it looked delectable. The cookie holding it looked nervous though, must be first day jitters
The cafe owner was being overly formal however, it was typical for dark cacao citizens to use little words and just get to the point after all, this behavior was more normal when nobles were speaking to fellow nobles. But it was fine, he supposed.
Now just to try the long awaited coffee.
It felt like home.
The bitter cacao with the mild sweetness of the milk mixed perfectly. The nuttiness of the coffee underneath only added to the other flavors. It reminded him of the simple mochas his older brother would make him out of drip coffee from the kitchen meant for guards.
Maybe this new cafe wasn't so bad.
—-------------------------------
Holy witches.
Every minute with crunchy chip in his store felt like a year taken off his life.
But it didn't visually appear that the cream wolf tamer thought something was off with dark choco. Which was nice, it was good to not get executed on his first day of opening his little cafe.
Luckily chip left soon enough, yet no one else came around. It made sense, it was brand new and not well known. So he closed down the shop, it was already night, however.
Dark choco cookie liked the night however, even as a kid he would sneak out to simply wander the woods.
And tonight was no exception.
Sure he looked shifty, but there were plenty of shifty cookies in the kingdom.
‘Oh please you look like a wanted criminal’
Witches, did this curse ever shut up.
But now was not the time to get distracted
Plus he had a mission.
Every week, the wanted criminal would tear down any poster at all with his face on it. It had only been a small 10 years since he disappeared from most things, and that was nothing to his immortal father. He would search for as long as dark choco was alive.
‘That's more than normal’
The sword noted, it was a bit chatty at times.
10 posters.
His father must be getting desperate.
The prince had no intention to return however.
It was long past that time after all.
