It's insane how much I'm inspired by this movie like damn!

Work Text:

It was Zoey's idea. Mira looked at the opened paint cans, especially the horribly bright pinks and purples that eerily resembled Gwi-Ma, and looked at the younger woman's big grin.

She only scoffed before picking up the brush. Rumi wasn't here yet, going to a walk with Derpy and Susie by herself to grieve that dem—Jinu. To be completely honest, Mira still felt a bit of sadness and regret when it came to that man, making a streak on her arm harshly drawn on.

Beside her, Zoey was gracefully gliding her brush around her leg, humming softly to not disturb her. This rare moment was peace, no concerts, no demons and no other way to distract them from appreciating the way the sunlight lit their living area in a soft glow.

So it was mildly understandable when they hid all their painting supplies and finished limbs when the penthouse elevator suddenly opened with a *ding*. And promptly sighed in relief when it was only Bobby checking up with them, carrying some pick-me-ups for them

“Hey girls, is Rumi...?”, he looked around and saw the paint on their arms. For a moment Mira feared the worst, that he'd look disgusted. Shut up, Bobby would never.

“Hey Bobby! We're just painting something to surprise Rumi!”, Zoey explained, showing off her legs.

“Oh yeah, that's so cool girls!”, Bobby enthused as he marveled their work.

An idea sprouted in Mira's mind. It was ludicrous, improbable even.

She smirked and told them both.

Rumi was softly brushing Derpy's fur as they were walking back from the bridge where she talked with him. Susie was perched on her shoulder, groaning whenever Derpy paused to look at something. There were no people who saw the huge size and different colour of Huntrix's new cat, slipping through alleyways to avoid anyone else.

She opened her phone and saw Zoey's chat on Bobby being there on the penthouse to drop off some ramyeon. Susie closed two pairs of their eyes as Derpy morphed back into a black and white cat nestled in her arms.

When she walked inside, placing Derpy on the floor, she hadn't expected anything special. Maybe another movie night with Bobby picking out a cool romcom.

Not... this.

She could see Bobby's back as he was politely sitting down. Zoey and Mira were painting patterns on his arms like they had, the tilt of his head clearly reflecting him having no clue for the sudden burst of body paint. But he stayed and was happy to join whatever they were doing.

The sight was beautiful. All three were so focused on their conversation they hadn't heard the elevator opening. Derpy's meowing alerted them to her arrival.

They all turned around, looked at each other and yelled at the top of their lungs.

“SURPRISE!”

Rumi cried, and cried some more as she felt herself cocooned by their hug.
