Home

Summary:

A poem about what home means to me.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

I think home would be a place so warm
a haven devoid of any semblance of harm

one should be able to lay down their head
and sleep without a care, as if dead

all the comforts one needs should be close at hand
loved ones should be close too, holding you tight like a rubber band

essential in my eyes, is that there should be peace
upon reaching home, worries and fears should shortly cease

but perhaps I am delusional, to believe in the existence of such a place
for I have long searched for home, but I haven’t found a trace.

Notes:

In a sense, I feel I am describing the Christian version of heaven. But does heaven exist?

Thanks for reading!
