Zoey walked quietly onto the rooftop, stopping when she spotted Mira. She needed to take a few moments to look at her friend, who stood there with her long hair flowing in the light breeze, looking out at the shining city lights.
Am I finally going to tell her tonight? Zoey had to ask herself. This would be the perfect moment after all. But then she thought, But what if it’s too soon? This is too complicated! Her thoughts and feelings were frantic to say the least, and Mira hadn’t even seemed to notice she was there yet.
For a moment, she stayed completely still so that she could further admire the sight of Mira standing there. She wore a short skirt with a crop top and black boots. Sooo beautiful...
When Zoey finished enjoying the view, she would take one little step forward before stopping again.
But right when the second thoughts were just about to pop up, she heard Mira say with a deadpan tone, “Zoey, are you just going to stand there all night?”
Zoey gulped. So she did know I was here. Mira turned around to look at her. “Hi there, Mira, whatcha doing?” she asked, her voice was nervous. Now that she had come to terms with her feelings, talking to her friend felt different and less simple.
A small smile was on Mira’s lips. “Just hanging around. Where’s Rumi?”
“Oh, she’s taking a nap, I think,” Zoey said. “That was a great show tonight, wasn’t it?”
“It sure was.” Mira glanced at her up and down. “Though you seem a bit different lately, Zoey.”
Zoey blushed. “What do you mean? I’m just my regular ol’ self!”
“Come on, tell me the truth. We’re all supposed to tell each other everything, remember?”
It’s time to let her know already, Zoey thought. So, she let out a sigh and said, “I really like you, Mira, and I mean beyond just a friend. I want to go on dates with you..and..and…uh, other things.” Her face had gone red.
Mira walked closer, so that there was now very little distance between them. “I was waiting for you to come out and say something. I’ve noticed those looks you’ve been giving me. It was soo obvious.” She then paused to wink. “Well, I want to ‘do things’ together, as you would call it, too.”
“Do you mean it?” Zoey said. Her heart was racing, she almost felt like she could fall over from excitement.
“Duh, of course I mean it,” Mira replied as if that were obvious. “Now, can I just kiss you already?”
Zoey looked back and forth in disbelief. “Right here and right now? On this roof, you mean?” she asked, almost bouncing.
“Yes, Zoey,” Mira said with a chuckle.
“Yes! Totally yes!” And just like that, Mira grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close so that their bodies were pressed together. Soon, she moved in slowly and pressed her soft lips against Zoey’s while her arms held her tighter.
Ohh woww…Zoey thought as she melted in Mira’s arms. Her lips felt so perfect, and their bodies so close together like this felt right. When Mira pulled back and looked in her eyes, she was smiling, with her lipstick slightly smudged.
Zoey let out a blissful sigh. “Mira…” was all she could think to say at that moment.
Suddenly, Mira lifted her off the ground and spun her around playfully before hoisting her up and cradling Zoey in her arms. “Come on, babe. Let’s go inside.”
This night is going exactly how I wanted it to!
“Okay, let’s go,” Zoey said. She smiled as she nuzzled against Mira.
And then she would be carried into the building as Mira held onto her tightly. When they were inside, they would find Rumi on the couch, in the middle of eating some ice cream. She was in pajamas, and her hair was a bit disheveled from having recently taken a nap.
Mira stopped, and both she and Zoey smiled at her.
A spoonful of ice cream in her mouth, Rumi looked at them in surprise. “Woah, did something happen? I must have been napping for a long time.”
“Mira and I are dating,” Zoey blurted out on impulse. She wanted to tell Rumi so things wouldn’t get awkward in the future.
Rumi’s eyes widened before she swallowed the ice cream. She smiled back at them. “I knew it was going to happen. You two have been giving each other lovey-dovey eyes for months now.”
“See? I told you it was obvious,” said Mira.
“I guess I made it into a bigger deal than it was,” Zoey admitted.
Rumi giggled. “Well, you girls have fun,” she said before having yet another spoonful of ice cream.
Mira would then walk Zoey into her bedroom, where she gently tossed her onto the mattress.
“Comfy,” said Zoey as Mira carefully lay down on top of her.
“Let’s just lie here like this…” Mira said, her cheek pressed against Zoey’s.
Zoey stroked her friend’s -- or was it girlfriend now-- pink hair, twirling it in her fingers. Her entire body felt hot having Mira so close and in bed with her. She briefly wondered if things would go even further. I’m so ready for it… she thought. But for now, she was more than happy to have Mira cuddled up with her.
But when Mira started kissing along her neck, a deep blush would return to her face.
Or maybe things are about to go further sooner than I expected!
Just a few inches from her ear, Mira whispered, “You know, we can do even more, if you want to, that is.”
Zoey had fantasized about doing much more with Mira. In the bedroom, in the bath house, and in a whole lot of other places. No use being all shy now, she told herself.
“Yes, please let’s do more,” she whispered back. And after having another long kiss, the two of them would go a lot further that night.
