"I didn't expect that at all…!" Nanase smiled at the phone, sitting up in his bed to continue, "Rin-san's a cool teach!!"

There was silence on the line for a long, long while.

"Yeah!" he nodded, even if he couldn't see him."He's pretty nice, if—"

Work Text:

"I didn't expect that at all…!" Nanase smiled at the phone, sitting up in his bed to continue, "Rin-san's a cool teach!!"

There was silence on the line for a long, long while.

"…Rin-sa— Itoshi Rin?!" Isagi's dumbfounded voice made him laugh.

"Yeah!" he nodded, even if he couldn't see him."He's pretty nice, if—"

"Nice—?!"

"—you see past his whole…" he gesticulated around, "…self."

"Why are you even with him in the first place?"

"Well, he's teachin' me some strategies things…" he grinned, "none ya can know about tho! Eheh."

Isagi stayed silent for enough time to make him shake his head to himself. "What is it?"

"What is what?"

Nanase hummed, thinking to himself. He shook his head again. "Don't mind, how are ya doin' by the way? I talked too much again, sorry."

"I like hearing you talk, dw," he could barely see the teasing smile on his face, "All good, can complain. Wanna hear?"

Nanase nodded so fast his head started hurting. He laughed about it. And still, while it was Isagi's turn with rambling, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something he wasn't actively seeing, or hearing, just…

He had no clue. He shook his head and answered when Isagi asked him a rhetorical question that made his ramble intensify.

He just hope he didn't hate him.

Nanase was so surprised he spent a total of fifteen seconds staring.

Isagi was there, randomly, in a side he wasn't supposed to be in, with an authorization surely but still pretty sketchy, eating quietly at the table where he usually sat.

Like, he didn't even glace at him or anything. Just… there like he owned the place.

Uh.

Not that he minded, he was always happy to see him and spend time with him, but there was something in seeing him suddenly there that…

"Hi!" Nanase shook himself out of his confusion. "Funny seein' ya here."

"It is, right?" Isagi drank a sip of tea and gave him a glance. "Thought I'd stop by, haven't seen you in ages."

He had a small smile on his face, almost invisible but something that Nanase saw so clearly he couldn't help but smile too, his head going silent in a blink of an eye.

Isagi was there. He was happy to see him. He… had missed him. Yeah, he had missed the small chat and soft laugher and comments they shared only when calling, seeing him again was refreshing to say the least.

He was glad he was there. Glad to see him again, his gaze softened, he shook his head to himself. "Always the same, ya."

"You know me," his smile turned a bit more amused, "hi, Nijiro."

"Hi, Yoichi," he snickered, he went to sit beside him at the table.

"Wanna train together?" Isagi asked as he focused back on his food. "We haven't done that since the break…"

"Sure thing," it made his chest warm up with love, "always happy to do that."

He didn't miss the way Isagi smiled to himself at his answer. He could be quite adorable at times. Nanase lost himself in his mind as he ate, he couldn't wait to spend the day with him.

+

Isagi had been glued to his side all day. That was weird for him, Isagi was one to value personal space very very much, and having him constantly hanging from his arm was unnatural and icky, not because Nanase didn't love it, but because that was so not Isagi-like.

As we said, weird.

And, the moment they got back to his room, Isagi got even weirder.

"Ah," was what his said, his face blank and his voice monotone, as he stared intently at Rin minding his business on his bed.

Rin didn't even look up. "That's where the stink came from."

Nanase got mentally exhausted in a second. "Rin-san, this is—"

"I know who he is—"

"—Isagi-san. Isagi-san," he gave him a glance, "behave."

Isagi raised an eyebrow. He scoffed, eyeing Rin. "He's gotta leave."

Rin threw him a glare. "Lukewarm."

"Your mum is—"

"Don't even start," Nanase grimaced, he took a small breath, anxiety in his chest and most of all, tiredness, "Rin-san, can ya please leave?"

Rin barely acknowledged his words at all. Always the same, that guy.

Nanase hummed to himself. He could feel Isagi already on the brink of making a scene, he didn't understand, he didn't understand what even was happening at all. "I'm about to break his back, Rin-san. Ya wanna see that or…?"

The face Rin made almost made him laugh. Almost. He was sweating from the tension. He couldn't have laughed even if he had wanted to. At least he left without riling up Isagi even more.

Nanase sighed with relief. He gave him a glance, he was still holding onto him, still looking way too thoughtful. He waited for the door to close to lean his head on his shoulder and ask. "What is it?"

"What is what?" Isagi leaned his head on his. "Let's…"

Nanase smiled. He took his hand and went to lie on the bed. As soon as he did that, Isagi literally flopped down on him, crushing him enough not to be able to breathe. Still, it made him laugh, and Isagi looked at him with that look of his and that smile he loved so much before giving him the smallest of kisses. He snuggled against him, burying his face in the crook of his neck, Nanase felt his breathing on his skin and couldn't help but melt, holding him to himself and relaxing on the bed.

His insides were liquid and warm, swirling around his chest and shoulders, making him want to scream and strangle him till he lost consciousness.

He had missed him so much, being with him again was like taking a breath of fresh hair outside after a storm had passed by, when the cold breeze still blew and messed up his hair as he looked at the clouds scattered in the sky and thought, I'm alive.

It was nice. He loved him and all he was with all himself. He had yet to find the guts to tell him, but he had been working on it.

"Yoichi," he called when he felt him shift, "what happened?"

"Can't I just want this?" he slurred, his voice and body relaxed enough to tell him he was probably about to fall asleep.

"Ya can, it's just…"

"Weird?"

"New," he corrected him, "are you okay? You've been acting weird since…"

Yeah, since when? Nanase stopped in his track to try and think about just when it had all started. He didn't remember it clearly, and keeping track of time in Blue Lock had always been a challenge, for him. He tried to recall the times Isagi randomly snapped, got suddenly closed off or complained about anything he had done, because he had to have done something, he just had no effing clue of what, exactly, and it was agitating him more than needed, knowing he had to apologize but didn't know for what.

He closed his eyes and thought. He thought and thought, there was that time they had been in call talking about formations and he had suddenly changed topic, that time they had been chatting at lunch and he had randomly told him he had to go and hadn't answered his texts till late that night, and that time a few days before when he had been talking about… And the day before, when… And that day, mere minutes before, he…

Nanase blinked and gave him an overly surprised glance, even if Isagi wasn't looking at him. "Wait a minute. Are ya jealous?"

Isagi didn't even move.

"Yoichi," he called, tapping his shoulder fast, "wake up, hey."

"Not sleepin'," he said, like a liar, he groaned, burying his face more on him and taking a deep breath. "Wha…?"

"Are ya jealous?" he asked. "Of Rin-san??"

"Night, Niji."

"Ohi—"

"I'm not," but his voice sounded muffled and low enough that Nanase read its truth very clearly.

He hummed, hugging him more to himself, he went to gently pat his hair. "Why?"

Isagi hummed, melting against him. He was so adorable. "You keep talking about him. Makes me want to shoot his brains out."

"Of course it does," he smiled, "ya that I love ya, right?"

Isagi stilled for a moment. He hummed. "I love you too."

"And I don't care at all about Rin-san."

"Perfect."

"I mean it, Yoichi, ya know? I'm yours, nobody else's."

That made him finally open his eyes and eye him so surprised that Nanase grinned. "Wo."

"What?"

"You're the weird one," he grinned, "saying stuff like this out of the blue…"

"It's true though," his grin widened, "and you like hearin' that."

"Do I?"

"Definitely."

"Say it again then," he hummed, he eyed his lips for a moment before looking at him in the eyes again. "For me?"

Nanase felt his face flush with shame and his stomach flutter with love. "I'm yours."

Isagi's eyes flashed with something he couldn't quite pinpoint, he leaned in, kissing him slowly and suddenly, something that made Nanase hum on his lips and bury his head on the pillow more. "Again?"

"I'm your, love," he smiled on his lips, whispering so low he felt him shiver.

Isagi pushed himself on his lips, deepening the kiss and making the warmth in him intensify."You… I love you, so…"

"I love you too."

His hands in his hair, his waist in his arms. "You're mine."

Nanase grinned. He bit his lower lip. It made him snicker to himself.

He let him devour him and he devoured him back as they both loved to do, Nanase lost himself in his touch and Isagi in his taste, and they kissed until they had no breath left and nothing mattered apart from them, letting that moment last as long as they could, dragging it forward until someone came knocking and they had to scramble to get in a… less compromising position. Annoying. But at least Isagi had an excuse to stay the night. Nanase was just glad it all got resolved, just… happy he could spend a bit more time with him.

Happy he managed to tell him.
