   Summary

   Sieun couldn't help but wonder.

   He had never been anyone’s anything. He had been useful, intelligent, reliable — all words that fit into neat little compartments, transactional in their own way. A student, a teacher, a colleague. He knew how to exist within those roles, to wear them like well-pressed shirts and never let them wrinkle.

   But when Humin calls him like a parent, it felt different. It wasn't a formal title or a ranking or a designation. It was a bond. A tether. A place in someone’s life that he hadn’t consciously sought out, and yet the kid had handed it to him as if he had done something to earn it.
