Summary
Sherlock was in New York when the new villain thought to try his new alien weapon. He purposefully came in front of the blast as an attempt at suicide, but even if the blast had hit him, he didn't die. Instead, he was aged down to his twenties. The Avengers took him to the compound where he could recuperate until he was conscious to ask about who he was and why he did what he did because Tony was sure he did jump in the line of fire willingly. But then comes the twist, he had lost his memories until the age his body was transformed. Sherlock himself didn't know why he was there, in New York, on the streets when he should be in London at this time.
Then the investigation begins, to find the truth of why he was here and why he was attempting suicide.
Back in London, even when it's half a year after the death of his little brother, Mycroft Holmes is still grieving, blaming himself for being too late to catch his dearest brother from spiraling, he already knew that Sherlock's death would be a suicide, but it still hurts the same. Imagine his state when he gets a call from New York that Sherlock Holmes is alive.
