Chip, chip, chip.
Bits of red and yellow nail polish fell onto the blue couch in the Green Room. To think that he got dolled up for such a thing like that. He looked like a fool now and wanted to shed this look like a snake would with its skin on one of those nature documentaries he would show as the Dreemurrs flipped through channels. He didn't want to think of this era anymore. It was pointless to do such a thing, for another month went down the drain.
A month of dreaming about being big shots together. A month of euphoria. A month of agape.
His hands cupped over his screen as he cried for the umpteenth time, barely able to get a breath in, his shoulders shaking. Bits of makeup swirled around in his tears. He never thought he'd see the day where it would take him an entire day for him to process his emotions, as his reaction timing was spot-on, but here he was now.
As for why he ran off, he would never know. What did they tell him? Of his past? Of sins that seemed unforgivable? The theories seemed endless.
"I can still remember the feeling of my heart—no, my entire torso—dropping when he ran out of the room we were in," Tenna sniffled. He vented all of this to Elnina and Lanino, who essentially acted as his de facto therapists. The Weather Duo sat close by on the same sectional, not knowing what to do. Although he didn't show it, Tenna envied them. They seemed to have everything under control, and even if they fought, often over miniscule things, they always got back together in the end.
"Not to rain on your parade or anything, Tenna, but…" Elnina started.
"We're not therapists," Lanino said, finishing up her sentence. "You should talk to a professional about this type of stuff."
Tenna almost grumbled. He didn't like therapists; he always thought that they were passive-aggressive.
But after a few seconds of silence, Tenna simply said, in an awkward tone, "Ah, o-of course, 'cause that's the right thing ta' do, haha!"
"We'd best be getting to bed now," Elnina said. "It's gonna be another long day. Isn't that right, my sunny moon?"
"I couldn't agree more, my dewdrop!"
"Yeah. I'll try and do that in a few minutes, too," the anthropomorphic TV sighed. And so, they departed, leaving Tenna alone in the Green Room.
Tenna eventually went to bed. But that doesn't exactly mean you're unconscious.
The theories kept multiplying, but then a question sprouted: who was in the right?
Well… it was Tenna of course, right? If he was crying, then certainly something wasn't right.
But when there are flowers, there are weeds, and this weed kept popping up long after he had pulled it, so to further back up his claim, he combed through all the memories he had with him that he could remember, back and forth, even going as far back as to when they first met.
But then, Tenna remembered how he found something he wrote about the TV Dinners. And how he tried covering that up.
Because of his past, was he in the wrong…?
Why not compromise and say that both were in the right? No, he couldn't do that because he ran out on him!
But what did it matter?
And that was the realization that broke him.
No one was.
