Passing the hallway to get to his room, Ryou swore he saw a shadowier, more wild version of himself in the bathroom mirror. Ryou froze, turned to look directly at the glass. Hoping. Hoping. Hoping.
For what? A miracle?
No, Ryou knew better than to hope for miracles.
But curses? Curses were real. Bad luck was all around. But no matter how he yearned to be haunted by whatever was left of the Spirit—he was alone.
It was only him in the mirror, rough and frazzled from faking happiness for the sake of his friends. Really, all he wanted was for them to understand that he was doing his best, but it was difficult and wearisome to be alive.
There was only him.
This was him.
