Work Header

They’re just tattoo’s

Summary:

In the living room, a beast laden. It was a demon, but unlike any the others had seen. Long and gangly it was, its proportions a mix of a human and a monster. Spikes emerged from its darkened body as its flesh, rolled riddled neck extended out from its body. The face at the end of it was barely familiar. But familiar it was.

Work Text:

The drive home had been a quiet one. The trio had mostly settled their emotions through a five minute long sobbing session in their first proper bathhouse experience, so they’d thoroughly gotten their emotions out for the night, at least.

“So…girls. What the heck WAS all that?! It was amazing and your score is higher than ever, but…what just happened there?”

Rumi sat in the middle of the car, squished between Zoey and Mira who sat a little too close. She sighs.

“It’s-…Bobby, if you really want to know, we-“

“-WE changed our minds. Yeah! The night before the big performance, we talked it out with the Saja Boys to put on this HUGE performance! It’s SO crazy how everyone was able to prepare for it that quick! Riiight, Rumi?”

The forced smiles of the two of them bounced back to Rumi. Maybe telling their manager about demons being a real threat and how they were fated to slay them using music was a little too heavy for today.

“Yeah! Yeah. I guess the whole news about it just didn’t make it’s way to you. I’m a little surprised, honestly.”

A pause.

“Really? And you’ve always had those tattoos?”

It was a little bit weird hearing them mentioned so casually. For all 24 years of her life, she hid them away, slowly burying herself in more and more clothes as they crept their way around her body. But now they’re just…tattoos. Rumi’s eyes looked down. It still felt hard to answer, even if she mostly accepted it.

“Mhm. Rumi just hid them for awhile because she was worried how people might react. Stans freak out about everything.” Thank god for Mira, she thought.

“I definitely can’t argue with the results. You’re all blowing up! HUNTR/X is back on top! Now don’t worry about anything, you all seem a bit stressed out so I booked you three-“

“Bobby.”

“…lemme guess. You’re gonna stay at the tower again?”

“Yep!”

“Yeah.”

“Right.”

“Take the time off there! I think we all need it.” Zoey said, leaning forward.

Rain poured on the edges of the window as muffled chatter from their manager filled the car. Frankly, none of them could care. What happened today was a lot. Rumi wrapped her arms around Mira, her cheek pressed against hers as Zoey with an unbuckled seatbelt, laid by all of them on the reclining car chairs.

“I wonder what’s got them this exhausted today. I feel like they were a bit more energetic the last couple times…”

As the limousine pulled into their underground garage, the three woke up from their light slumber.

“Hey, we’re here.” he spoke, stepping out the car doors and opening it for the band. “Get some sleep tonight, alright guys?”

“Ugggh…do we HAVE to get out? I really don’t feel like moving.”

“But, Mira…” Rumi nudged her head a bit higher.

“What?”

“Imagine how much more comfy our beds are.”

“Dammit. You’re right.”

Like they were hammered, the three groggily stepped out of the car and into the dim blue elevator. Finally, some privacy! As if the hour long bath they had a little over twenty minutes ago wasn’t enough.

“FWOOMF!” was approximately the noise the bed made as they all collapsed onto the bed in Mira’s room. It was the most fluffy out of all of them.

“Ah, I love your bed…I could stay here all day.” Zoey said as she drilled her way all across her cushions. “It’s so, like, soft.”

Mira sighed. “I’m so glad we took off our makeup when we went to the bathhouse, I really wouldn’t give a shit about taking it off right now if we hadn’t already.”

“Ditto.”

God. Wasn’t this nice? It was the day she finally dreamed of. It didn’t go exactly as planned, there may’ve been a beg for death by her own weapon a couple hours ago but they were PAST that now! SHE was past that. Now that she can finally show off her marks, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.

Nothing to worry about that she knew of.

As night crept on and all had soon fallen asleep, noises of objects being thrown around filled the living room, and then quickly into Mira’s.

She’d always been the lightest sleeper.

Slumping up, the trash noise once distant grew so loud that hearing it hurt her ears. “God, what the…”

Another demon? Already? Couldn’t they give it a REST for once? Exiling her weapon, Mira left the bed and crouched down. She peeks from the edges of the room.

Oh. My. God.

“ZOEY!! Wake up!” she sputtered in a hushed tone.

“Wh…what? Mira, it’s like, 3AM…”

“It’s 12.”

“Well it FEELS like its 3! …Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to shout…i’m just really tired after what just happened and-“

Mira hurriedly shushed Zoey. “SHH! She’ll hear you! You need to whisper.”

A beat.

“Who’s gonna hear me?”

“I’ll show you.”

Zoey’s heart beat faster than she’d like it to. What’s up with this freak out? WHY did Mira have to wake her up in the middle of the night and WHY is her weapon out?

“R…Rumi?”
