Work Text:

At Zoey and Mystery's Home

"...appa what does it mean when a girl says that you're her type?"

Mystery thinks long and hard. Their son barely came to him for questions preferring to ask his mother who was the more empathetic of the two.

And about girls as well- he's only ever dated one girl in his life and ended up marrying her despite his lack of much needed social skills so dating advice isn't something he's used to give.

But he still tried- this was a big milestone as a father and he certainly did not want the opportunity to pass. And after staring into the ceiling for what nearly felt like hours, he finally came up with the most perfect answer

"-well base on my experience, the next thing she'll do is punch you in the face"

Zoey who had been listening from the kitchen the entire time felt her knees weaken at her husband's answer, almost dropping the plates she had been carrying around.

Jun looks at his father, a mix of confusion and fear written on his face "...eomma punched you in the face?"

"Yes" Mystery replies, the pout evident on his tone as he recalled the memory he had with Zoey

'You're just my type~ oh well' before Zoey punches him square on the nose

His wife who's now hiding behind the kitchen counter and covering her face in shame, didn't know whether to laugh at how serious her husband sounded while addressing such a light issue or have a crash- out at the fact that Mystery is basically ruining her caring motherly image in front of their own son

"...eomma" Zoey jumps at her hiding spot, clutching her chest in surprise when Jun finally finds her "Is it true that you punched my appa in the face?"

She wanted to cry in frustration. Why is she being interrogated all of a sudden?

"Your appa was being a jerk that time! He deserves it!" She says almost whining, leaving her child looking even more confused than before

"But appa loves you- why did you punch him?"

Oh you clueless child

Zoey couldn't even get mad at how sincere her son sounded while asking the question, surely it wasn't to purposely make her feel bad

Sighing, she ruffled his already messy hair with a smile as she tried to casually change the subject "Do we even know this girl who confessed to you?"

Maybe one of his classmates from school? Couldn't really blame the poor child- Jun did inherit Mystery's good looks

"It's Minji"

Zoey froze when she hears a familiar name "Minji? You mean Minji? Rumi and Jinu's five year old daughter Minji?"

"Yes?"

"And what did you say to her?" Her tone changing, as if to warn her child to choose his words wisely.

"That she's not my type"

.....
At Rumi and Jinu's Home

"Can you believe that appa?!"

Jinu had a headache early that morning when her five year old daughter decided that he'd be the best choice to rant about boys to

"He said that I wasn't his type! I don't want to play with him anymore" Minji complains, pacing back and forth in front of her father that's currently seated on the couch beside his wife

"Good, cause he's too old for you"

His daughter looks at his direction like he was the one who just lost his mind. This is ridiculous- he'd had crushes back when he was five too but never took it as seriously as the little girl is taking it right now.

"But appa- I'm everyone's type"

Rumi, who had been quietly listening to the absurdity of their conversation, choked at her morning coffee when she heard those words from her own daughter

'Your daughter might look like me but when she opens her mouth she's all you'

She finally understood what Jinu meant when he said that the two of them are too similar.

"Don't feel too bad Minji" Rumi tells her daughter in a comforting tone "-a man once told me that I'm not his type and I still ended up marrying him"

That left Jinu speechless while his wife tried her best not to laugh at his dumbfounded face. Leave it to Rumi to try and exploit every situation to torture him using their daughter.

'My daughter will absolutely not end up marrying that child'

Minji, who was still on a bad mood starting mumbling under her breath

"...eomma should've married someone else"

As if all the mockery wasn't bad enough, he had to take another hit from his daughter. He looks at his wife in defeat "This is bullying" and she finally could not hold back her laughter

This was her beginning to be quite a habit she loved doing. Rumi didn't even need to turn on their very expensive TV set to be entertained in their home because listening to her husband and daughter's banter is all the entertainment she needed.

"You'll never win against my daughter Jinu, I've raised her well" she says, hugging their daughter defensively with a proud smile on her face

And Jinu could only hope- pray- beg to all the Gods that listened that day that his other daughter would not give him the same problem as these two right now.

Notes:

Next part is with Rujinu's second daughter x Miromabby's child and Jinu finally losing all his sanity
