    If Newt was here, he would be so angry and worried, he wouldn't have let Lucas do this.

    But he isn't here, and failure isn't an option, and this made things easier. Lucas is getting low in resources, including sleeping gas and sedatives, and this was the only way to get them quiet enough for the first part of the process.
