Divinity Unleashed - Released (Feedback Wanted)

Summary:

A writing experiment born from a single joke - that devolved into madness.

Partial writing exercise, partial exploration of: what a world would look like if Percy, as a boy, gave a grieving goddess a flower?

Dropped in media res, and taking place (Primarily) during the Titan's Curse - an exploration of the nature of divinity, love, romance, style, and many late nights.

NOTE: The chapters do follow chronologically, but there is gaps in it by design- mainly hitting on important plot beats for a broader feel and to test different styles and structures of writing. I will also be posting passages of the original notes I wrote that take place before the Titan's Curse - if only to explore and gain feedback on characterization.

A love letter to Rick Riordan's work, for inspiring millions to study myths. A deconstruction of the story, from a mythological and philosophical lens. Feedback is welcome, and in fact, encouraged.

Updated Note: Time makes us fonder - and so too does love make us weaker. So, in an endeavor to be better - I say, let us be better. For truth - what does it mean to love something? So in truth, let us be free - Aye, aye; let it be free.

Notes:

Scene: Artemis and Zoe. Before the Hunt departs to Camp Half Blood.

A meditation on grief, history, sisterhood, and ideals becoming dogma.

Chapter 1: Reading Order (Or: Content Page)

Chapter Text

This is sort of just a guide for anyone looking for a canonical or chronological reading order. I understand that, yes, I can simply rework the reading order - but as I post more and more of the original drafts and notes, things might become slightly confusing. Unfortunately, there is no Apocrypha or Informational system on Ao3 - so I'm adding this specifically to help with that. Really, only The Goddess of Youths and A Meeting of Equals needs to be moved around. So I'll do just that, and leave this as a guide for anyone who needs it, specifically for returning viewers and readers, if they need it. However, as there are already gaps in-between the later chapters, I'll do my best to explain if anyone has any questions

Titan's Curse Reading Order:

  1. Chapter X: The Goddess of Youths

  2. Chapter X : A Meeting of Equals

  3. Chapter X: A Goddess's Lament (A Mother's Worry)

  4. Chapter X - Daughter of Sun, Niece of Moon

  5. Chapter X: An Ode To Friendship (Sisterhood And Love)

  6. Chapter X: Divinity Unleashed (Watch Ye, O’, Singers of Parnassus?)

  7. Chapter Y: Sunset Lullaby (And Melancholic Sighs)

  8. Chapter Y: Ikaros, Hespera (Fools, Both)

  9. Chapter Y: O', Falling Ikaros (Sing, O' Muses, Of Falling Lovers)

  10. Chapter X: In the Silence (Of Pathos and Ethos)

  11. Chapter X: Of Twelve Gods (And Pointless Things)

  12. Chapter X: Madness (Fall, Morning Star)

  13. Chapter X : Hunt No Longer (Goodbye, Hunter; Good Morning, Sister)

  14. Chapter X: Sister, Brother (Eros, Passio)

Really, I will also be posting specific snippets and then putting them here - to give you a guide, more or less, where it takes place in the chronology of the story. They will appear beneath this:

Lost Lightning:

The original chapters, of the Lightning Thief and what came before it. These are, on their own, completely unneeded to read the above. But they are, in many respects, lovely little additions. Some of my favorite scenes and lines appear in them. Feel free to read them in any order. Truly, these explore the setup for what come after - and even then, we start a bit late.

  1. Lost Lightning: Chapter X - Measures of a God (Tea and Judgement)
