Summary
I had this dream that you and I would meet for the first time -- someplace public, like a coffee shop, or the Zuzu U quad -- and it’d be alright because you wouldn’t look at me like I was a freak. You’d see me and you’d know me on sight, and when you’d smile at me, I think I could stand being in daylight if it meant that I could carry home a little of your warmth to keep for myself for always.
I thought maybe when you looked at me for the first time you’d just know who I was instantly, because who needs to shake hands when everything we’ve shared defies space and time and logic? But you didn’t know who I was at all, my fable from the internet, and maybe that hurt the most because there I was like a fool, waiting for you after all this time, hoping that you’d feel the same sort of breathless revelation that our lives were still tangled together.
You should’ve known me in the way that a soul recognizes the parts of itself that are missing because we’ve been bound together inextricably from before the beginning... But you didn't, did you, Farmer?
Well I’m here now, and I’m not leaving.
