Chapter Text

Buck’s daily routine was once a solitary one.

He ate breakfast alone, worked all day, ate lunch alone, worked some more, and went home alone.

Nowadays, he isn’t so alone.

He grunts when he feels a weight suddenly hit his chest. With a groan, he sits up on his elbows, and he’s met with big blue eyes.

It’s not often Dallas wakes up in littlespace, but Buck always stays home when he does.

Dallas climbs right onto his chest and curls up. His fingers hold tightly onto Buck’s shirt.

Dally is the biggest cuddle bug you’ll ever meet. That need for touch is only increased when he’s little. He ends up just whining, or—even worse—crying when he isn’t given the attention he needs.

Buck stands and lifts Dally onto his hip with a grunt.

“C’mon, cowboy.”

The blonde squirms in his arms. Little whines fill the room as he tries to escape.

He wants to cuddle! Not go anywhere!

The bartender is having none of it. He simply adjusts his grip and carries him to the nursery.

Buck never thought he would have a nursery in his house. Not only is he neutral, but he doesn’t like kids. He never imagined he would be taking care of a little.

Dally pouts up at him the entire time Buck is changing him.

The pout disappears when he gets to choose his diaper. They’re both cowboy themed; one with hats and the other with horses. Dally picks the horses.

Beyond that, Buck puts him in some baby blue pajama pants and an oversized Mickey Mouse sweater. (He’s ninety-percent sure the sweater belongs to Two-Bit.)

Finally, Dally gets his western-themed pacifier. Buck is proud to say he diy-ed it himself, complete with letter beads on the handle that spell out ‘cowboy’.

While Dallas seems much more content now that he’s changed, he still seems happier to be in Buck’s arms. He cuddles as close as he can to the bartender.

Buck has heard the term ‘velcro baby’, and he can’t help but think it describes Dallas perfectly.

Little days are mainly spent lounging around. It’s honestly a nice break from the usual chaos Dally brings around.

The little stays in Buck’s lap, happily feeding from his bottle. Some cowboy movie that is definitely not age appropriate plays in the background. Still, he seems content.

He does get a bit fussy when his milk runs out, but Buck soothes him with a few bounces.

Buck can’t imagine having to care for a chaotic little like Junior does. Let alone multiple. Steve and Soda are a deadly combination. Mixed with Pony? It’s hell on Earth.

He’s never babysit the Curtis kids, but he has helped supervise play dates. This usually ends in Dallas sitting in his lap and watching just as much as he is.

Dallas is a sleepy little, and a quiet one. Even without his velcro tendencies, he wouldn’t be up to play the high-energy games the other littles engage in.

Maybe cars with Steve? Then again, Dallas just likes the repetition movement of running a car back and form.

Johnny is really the only one Dallas tolerates enough to actually play with. They share a love of building blocks and silence. Not to mention, the other kids don’t tend to entertain Dallas since he stays mainly in baby space.

Something about him being ‘too much of a baby to play with them’.

Buck really doesn’t understand kids.

He continues to bounce Dallas on his leg. Listening to his giggles, Buck can’t fight a smile.

Dally practically beams at him, suckling happily on his pacifier. If possible, he curls closer to Buck. His little fingers thread through his shirt and hold tightly.

Buck’s own grip on the boy tightens. As if to say, ‘I’m not going anywhere’.

He barely even noticed when Dallas nods off, that’s how quiet the kid is. Instead of taking him back to bed, Buck just holds him.

Buck argues to himself that it’s just because the kid would throw a fit. It’s not because Buck wants to hold him, and the thought of putting him down makes his heart ache.

Not at all..

Oh, who is he kidding? Buck plants a kiss on the sleeping boy’s head.

He really doesn’t understand kids. Never thought he’d have them at all.

Now? Even he can admit, he certainly loves one.
